Is Josh Hamilton the Natural?

His story is inspiring to say the least. They will have to make a major motion picture out of this when it's all said and done. The Rangers have to figure out what they will pay this guy. Lots of teams I imagine would give him something like 5yr/$100-$120m...but Hamilton is gonna want a lot more is he not? The stories about him are starting to become legendary. Mike Lowell was on LeBaritard's show yesterday and said he was working out in a weight room with some other players and such...Hamilton walks in and goes over to the dumbbells and grabs two of them to start doing wrist curls and Hamilton begins talking and carrying on a conversation with everyone around him. Lowell looks down finally to see the weights he is playing around with and he has a 70 lb dumbbell in each hand and Lowell says to himself "Get the eff out of here" and he went on to say Hamilton is the strongest player he has ever faced, and the most complete player he has ever seen pick up a ball.

One more story as the legend grows...Hamilton is gone for a year from his addiction and comes back a shell physically of what he initially was. He comes up to the plate and the first pitch he cracks it out past the scoreboard, just incredible. 17 home runs as of May 11th to lead the league. I do not believe anyone will ever break Barry Bonds ballooned record or McGuire/Sosa...but the thought of someone hitting 50 home runs without steroids in their system, in a time where pitchers are grabbing the upper hand once again and dominating now that the juice is out of the game, how awesome would it be to see a guy hit 50 or possibly chase 60 or Maris' 61 which should be rolled back as the real record. Guy is fun to watch swinging a bat.

2059 hits
373 2b
402 HR
7 30 home run seasons
2005 ALCS MVP (on the way to the first White Sox title in 100 years)
Tough call, I thought he was closer just thinking about him. He's in his age 36 season.

Give me the best defensive team you could possibly field

I don't want everyone to go digging up career defensive stats. Give me your gut feeling.

We want to field a team with fantastic gloves. The pitcher spot is more open to interpretation.
If you're trying to hold the other team down, obviously putting a dominant arm on the mound is
more important than starting a pitcher who won a lot of Gold Gloves (Maddux and Kaat, for example).

There's really no right or wrong here. Just list the best defensive 9 you'd go to battle with.

P - Sandy Koufax
C - Johnny Bench
1B - Keith Hernandez
2B - Ryne Sandberg (no idea on this one, really)
SS - Ozzie Smith
3B - Brooks Robinson
RF - Roberto Clemente
CF - Ken Griffey, Jr.
LF - I don't even want to type his name because he's such a jackoff.

Ignore teams playing and score.

There's no outs, runners on 1st and 3rd. Your hitter can do one of the following:

1) Hit into a double play but score a run. There are now 2 outs in the inning and no baserunners

or

2) Strikeout. There is only 1 out in the inning and still 2 baserunners on base.

With the Houston Astros moving to the American League West next season and the leagues becoming balanced at 15 teams apiece, natural rivals throughout baseball no longer will be guaranteed six games a season and home-and-home series, the sources said.

Bust a Move 2012

Lawrie- I was on the hype train but tremendously pedestrian based on the stats. Haven't seen much of him yet but Toronto has been playing crap teams and he's very mortal

Pujols- nuff said. Terrible ballpark for him that you figured he'd outhit. He's not done, but boy oh boy, he may REALLY not be what he was.

Matt Moore- Very slight guy that you have to wonder about for the full season. Not terrible but not a top tier guy many thought he might be. He'll be an inconsistent rookie.

Paul Goldschmidt- fighting off competition from Overbay and looks overmatched and overwhelmed. Hard to see him avoiding AAA right now

Of these guys, I only expect Lawrie to approach his projected ceiling as he's been better of late, but certainly more mortal than his great run last season.

Almost May

3 years ago finished 2nd, last two years took first running away from the pack. Figured I had two more years left in the roster before a major overhaul (keep starting lineup plus 5 SP and 3 RP, then redraft for 9 bench positions). However I am in 8th place of 10 teams and continuing to watch the pack pull away.

C - Santana
1B - Teixieria
2B - Kinsler
3B - Wright
SS - Tulowitzski
OF - Holliday
OF - Cruz
OF - Swisher
DH - Pujols
Bench - Aramis Ramirez, Choo, Willingham
DL - Ellsbury

SP - Scherzer, Lester, Gallardo, Haren, Peavy
RP - Motte, Papelbon, Marshall

Bench SP - Shelby Miller, Nova, Minor, Worley, Hellickson
Bench RP - Chapman, Smardzija

Been trying to move Wright for Lawrie - but am not quite ready to trade Wright straight up. This is a points league (1 pt per base, rbi, sb, bb, hbp, rbi). Pitching is 1 pt per IP and K, -1 per er, 15 pts per win, 8 pts per save.

This team looked so good heading in to the season, not sure what went wrong. Should I make wholesale changes to go for youth or do I ride out the early season poor performance? It has been a good run - but maybe I need to start shooping some of my current older players and rebuild?

Maybe I'm just having a misconception but it seems to me that the majority of left handers I've ever seen are finesse pitchers maybe topping out at 92/93. The only lefty I can ever think of to top 100 is Randy Johnson. Is there some sort of scientific reason for this or is it just that lefties come in far greater numbers than righties? I suppose all together its rare to see someone toss triple digits. I still think it's rare to even find a lefty throw >95mph.

Marlins Park

If this has already been done please merge. Went to the Marlins-Cubs today, will be going to all day games in the middle of the week this season, more folks should take time off and enjoy this.

-We parked across from the stadium at some folks apartment complex, $20 no blocking, would have been $15-$25 anywhere, will look into public transportation but the parking was a little stressful, had to keep going by lots for folks with passes.

-Honestly, this stadium is very nice but it still has a lot of meh in it and I will go over that with you. 1st of all if you see one concession when you walk in the door you pretty much have seen them all. The food is OK, I would like to see even more selections than "FanFeast" every other section. It's way better than JRS but it still is just OK IMHO. The more time I frequent the more I hope to hear about more stuff. I was kinda shocked walking in the lower bowl that there wasn't much in the way of something like a cigar bar. The Clevelander sits in Left Center but who wants to sit in the outfield? I hate all those seats.

-I bought a hot dog and I knew there were problems when I handed over the $7 and then found out I was waiting behind 5 others and the runner went for buns...STALE!!! I tried to return it, clerk said no refunds...went to a guy with a suit jacket and handed him the hot dog to give to his boss...he was very nice and rectified the situation quickly. Hot dog was replaced, got 2 drink cards for our troubles.

-Tropicana Field is better in many ways, there I said it and it's true. Trop has more nostalgia, a fantastic little museum, escalators throughout...DO NOT buy 300 level tickets and walk up 5 ramps to get there...I'm telling you you're gonna hate that.

Will be going as often as time and money permit, sat in section 305, scooted over to 306, perfect view of the skyline, right where the infield meets the outfield, tix only cost me about $25 for the pair on Craigslist from a season fix holder. Miami/Ft Laud/WPB folks, go go go!!!

Possible trade?

I am in a 10 team ESPN roto league. The only offensive stats we track are HR/RBI/Extra Base Hits/AVG.

I have some depth at OF (we start 5 with another Util spot) with
Josh Hamilton
Ryan Braun
Nelson Cruz
Howard Kendrick
Desmond Jennings
Drew Stubbs
Alex Rios

But I am really lacking at 1st base with
Ike Davis
Ryan Howard (DL obviously)

Another owner (last place team that needs a lot more offense) is willing to trade either
Adam LaRoche
Adam Dunn
Adam Linn
He has Pujols, but says he isn't on the trade table right now, but he doesn't sound totally firm on that

There isn't much on the waiver wire IMO, but I am out of the loop on deeper players in fantasy baseball.
Mat Gamel
Jaun Rivera
Aubrey Huff
Todd Helton
Yonder Alonso
Jeff Smoak
Jesus Guzman
Ty Wiggington
Casey Kotchman
Garrett Jones

Anyway, what should I be looking at for a trade offer/deal? Other owner has stated an interest in Cruz or Kendrick. I like that Kendrick is available at 2B and OF, but I already have Kinsler and Espinosa to use at 2B.

Or should I be looking at the Waiver Wire? It sucks that we only have waivers run once a week.

I was offered a trade where I would get Stephen Drew and would give up Hector Santiago.

I'm relatively new for FB. I know Drew is hurt but is he worth making a deal for now. From what I've read he is at least a month away from returning.

My other RP's are Kimbrel and Perez.

I will need some help at MI. Currently I have Rollins, Kipnis and K. Johnson.

It's a 14 team league so the WW is pretty bare.
Any help appreciated.

Andrew McCutchen, Mike Stanton, and Eric Hosmer

He played 149 games last year as a rookie. I'm sure he hates the idea of riding the pine and would love to play every day. The question is where do you play this guy. 3 errors in his 2 games at 3B have shown that he is not ready to play 3B everyday and Callapaso is a 3B anyways. Pujols is now playing 1B where he played last year. K. Morales is the DH and he is not going to be replacing his bat at DH. He is a talented player that is lost in the shuffle currently.

Speaking of Hosmer, it's time to try and find the next one.
3B Nolan Arenado is tearing it up in AA Tulsa. It might be a little early, but considering the 3B options in COL, he might be able to force his way up.
I'm stashing.
Although I'm a little worried about Felix. Not on top of his game last night and there have been rumors of him not being right. I hope it's just that stupid Japan trip messing with him a little and he will be back to his old self next start.

Other than that, I'm surprised about how good Figgins has performed so far, much better than expected. Ackley looks good, Ichiro is Ichiro but in the three hole. Looking for Smoak to pick it up this year, I think he will. Is it too early to be worried about Montero? I hate to do this, but watching the series with the A's and seeing how well Cespedes is mashing, and how lost Montero looks, makes me wish we went after the other slugger. I guess time will tell, Montero is still so young.

I used it last year ... allows you to get a quick consensus on trades from a larger sample size than just a few people. It's obviously all based on gut reactions, but seems like a useful tool. Nice way to pass some time at work as well
