Buffalo Bills

Positions of Need (as per NFL.com)

QB, OL, WR, DL, LB

Needs Analysis: The Bills have a new coach, but they don't have a proven quarterback. As if that wasn't enough of a concern, they are also installing a new defense. Free-agent signings OT Cornell Green, DE Dwan Edwards and LB Andra Davis do not exactly instill confidence. Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen, Oklahoma OT Trent Williams and Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant should all be on the board when the Bills select at No. 9. It looks more and more like they will take an offensive tackle. Don't be surprised if a receiver like Georgia Tech's Demaryius Thomas gets in the mix with new coach Chan Gailey running the show. Gailey knows a lot about Thomas after the receiver was recruited to Georgia Tech during his tenure as the Yellow Jackets' coach.

I have a strange feeling Buffalo might be the team that takes Tebow. #9 might be too high so I can see them trading down. But you never know...

I'd have to think that Dez would get some serious thought here. When was the last time Buffalo had two good WRs (and I don't mean a post-apocalyptic T.O.)? In the end, I think they do the smart thing and take the next best OT, hoping to have their O-line shored up for their 2nd round pick. ;)

The defense actually plays pretty well; its injuries on that side of the ball that has hurt them most. They need to build the offensive line. Trent Edwards could actually be a reasonable QB if he gets some protection.

Bills passing on Clausen, taking Tebow?

By Mark J. Miller

The Buffalo Bills have the ninth overall pick in this month's draft and there had been some belief that the team would use it to select Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen if he's still available. But now the word from the Buffalo News is that the team will pass on Clausen and pick Iowa left tackle Bryan Bulaga.

The team is supposedly hoping it will be able to grab Florida quarterback Tim Tebow in the second round.

"I would take Clausen, but I'm hearing through a lot of different sources that they will not take Clausen so I kind of scratched them off," said ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper told the paper. "I think they're going to go a different route and taking Bryan Bulaga and coming back in the second round and taking Tim Tebow."

The Oakland Raiders may end up selecting Clausen with the eighth overall pick to eventually take the place of a previous draft bust, JaMarcus Russell
