Miami Dolphins

Positions of Need (as per NFL.com)

WR, DL, LB, S

Needs Analysis: The Dolphins spent big money to get LB Karlos Dansby and now they can turn their attention to other defensive needs. NT Jason Ferguson, 35, is coming off a season-ending quadriceps injury and will miss the first eight games of the season due to a league-imposed suspension. Paul Soliai is not the answer as a starting nose tackle. Bill Parcells has a long history with pass rushing outside linebackers (Lawrence Taylor, Carl Banks, DeMarcus Ware) and I would not be surprised if that's the first issue Miami addressed. Somewhere in the draft a wide receiver will get consideration, but not necessarily in the first or second round. The signing of Richie Incognito probably takes Miami out of the offensive line business. The Dolphins could also use a safety with the coverage skills to play the deep middle.

this HAS to be Dez. The Fins need a WR in the worst way.
Other than the obvious need you speak of, what in Parcells history and with the likes og Ginn(1.09) still on the books for big money...what can you actually point to where Miami would take a WR? Or are you just saying that it's the most obvious need? I think if they were truly worried that they woukd have stepped up in the Boldin trade, Marshall, VJax, those guys are around and they either did not act or have sat by and watched from afar. You don't even hear their name mentioned in rumbles.

just based on need. I could see them going Dan Williams, but in this draft he is already off the board.

Bryant will win this vote because it's a fantasy board but I don't think Parcells is touching him with a 10 ft. pole. I think he'll take P-Paul given this scenario.

Parcells took Terry Glenn early....that lead him to success. He also drafted Keyshawn #1 overall....he isn't affraid to take WR's.
Yeah, that was all pre-TO. He's a changed man now....
I edited it b/c I don't believe he drafted Keyshawn.TO was in a league of his own in destructing a team....i've never known a WR that was that bad...ocho isn't, randy moss isn't, etc

Wrong, Bobby Grier was the GM in 1996. He drafted Glenn against Parcell's wishes.
Nice info, I didn't know that. But seeing as that led them to the Super Bowl....would that change Parcell's perception? B/c that is what was brought up earlier with TO hurting it.

I think Parcell's opinion of Dez Bryant matters a lot more than Terry Glenn and Terrell Ownes when deciding whether or not he wants to take Dez Bryant.

I would not be shocked if Spiller was on their radar. They need speed in the worst way, especailly at RB where they had a lot of holes they weren't able to exploit last season. Brown would have a hole and then it would close, same with Ricky who is more power than speed at this point. I was pretty concerned when I first heard the rumblings down here but when you think about it...this is a copycat league and if Parcells took White in the 2nd round last year, what woulkd stop him from drafting some premium speed at a spot where he knows that speed can be exploited.

They spent $150 MILLION on that Offensive Line...at some point and it better be soon you want some ROI here. I know Miami needs help still on defense but honestly, will taking a Safety, OLB/DE, NT...if they go and fill those up in the 1st and 2nd, sure they have a defense for the future but they need some offense. Brown now has another injury on his medical report, Ricky was a nice story last year but I really will not be surprised if Miami takes Spiller and tries to duplicate what other teams are doing like Felix in Dallas, Charles in KC, Johnson in TN, I can see Spiller being put in immediately and he also adds another dimension to the passing game...so in a way they could increase two parts of that offense with a guy like Spiller.
