ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Anquan Boldin has again made it clear to the Cardinals that he wants to be traded.Boldin, due $2.5 million this year, wants Larry Fitzgerald money. He says coach Ken Whisenhunt lied to him, "If you ask me, coaches should be coaches, management should be management, and I don't think those lines should be crossed," Boldin told NFL.com. Mort says Philadelphia and Dallas would get involved if the Cards made Boldin available, but that's not going to happen. In the end, Boldin should still produce.Source: NFL.com

Wide receiver Anquan Boldin's displeasure with the Cardinals has not dissipated. If anything, it has intensified.

Boldin criticized the organization Monday for "lying" to him about the new contract he desires but has not procured, and he saved his strongest comments for Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt, with whom he no longer communicates.

"At this point we have no relationship, and I don't see that changing," Boldin told NFL Network. "It's just gotten to a point where I think lines were crossed.

"If you ask me, coaches should be coaches, management should be management, and I don't think those lines should be crossed. But when you cross those lines, you put yourself in postiion for things like this to happen."

Now, Boldin is upset with the organization and more upset with Whisenhunt, whom he feels got unnecessarily involved in negotiations that have soured.

Boldin has three years left on a contract extension that Arizona awarded him after his second season in the league. It is scheduled to pay him $2.5 million this season. The Cardinals have said they hope to get Boldin a new deal, they have tried to give him a new deal in the past, and they will continue to do so in the future. But Boldin has vowed not to re-sign with Arizona, not after what he feels the Cardinals have put him through.

Last year, Boldin said the Cardinals promised him a new contract that they have failed to deliver. But they have re-signed fellow Pro Bowl wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald to a four year, $40 million contract.

"They made different promises saying they would take care of me," Boldin said. "It all goes back to last year, even before camp. I sat in on a meeting with Whisenhunt and the (team owners) Bidwills, and their exact words were they wouldn't let me go into this season without a new deal.

"Well, here we are a year later and still no new deal. The deals they put on the table were slaps in the face as opposed to deals that would take care of me. For me, it's an uncomfortable situaton. I feel lied to by the organizaiton. It's hard for them to ask me to give me my all when it hasn't been reciprocated."

Asked if he could envision himself still producing despite his level of unhappiness, Boldin said: "I can be productive on the field but that's as far as it goes. I will try to detach myself from the organization as much as possible.

"As long as I'm here, I can't see myself as a happy member of this organization at all, not with this situation being what it is. I don't see it being rectified, either. The relationship with me and the organization is done. I'm here to uphold my contract, that's it."

Boldin would prefer to be traded and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, asked the Cardinals back in April to trade his client. Boldin is convinced that Arizona "turned down a bunch of teams willing to give up first-round picks. They clearly don't want to get a deal done."

And as long as the Cardinals do not complete a deal with Boldin or another team, they are going to have an unhappy camper who no longer cares to speak with his head coach.

How about some package centering around Ronnie Brown for Anquan? Dolphins desperately need a go-to receiver to complement Ginn and the Cards badly need a RB.

yeah, but that would leave one team without much depth at RB, they might have to start Chester Taylor on Edge's bye. better throw in a kicker to make it fair.

From a fantasy perspective, I don't like the concept of Boldin having "no relationship" with his coach. It's tough to see how that's a good thing. That said, several WR have had issues with coaching and still produced (TO and Moss come to mind), so I'm not sure that you can do too much ranking-wise with this info.

Boldin needs to pull a Cuba Gooding Jr in Jerry McGuire and PLAY for a new contract with 100/1400/10

Boldin has wanted a new contract all offseason. Why is this news today?

Did you watch any of Moss' games as a Raider?

Yikes. This might be all I needed to read. I agree that every player has value in fantasy football terms, but unless Boldin falls quite a bit I ain't going to touch that situation.

Injury risk + plus contract problems + not speaking to the coach != fantasy production

Should be an interesting situation to follow though.

Hmmm, Breaston's stock rising?
Bump Breaston regardless, especially if Leinart is named the starter. He's turning into a check down machine. All preseason, and even last year He gives brief look down field and dumps it off to the WR dragging across the middle. This year it is Breaston, not sure Matty even knows there are other WR's on the field.

Rod Tidwell = $$$

I think it could be his best season yet. He needs to prove to 31 teams that he is worth big bucks(Larry Fitzgerald bucks). No better way to do that than to post the stats and not be a baby.

Lito Shepphard and Eagles 1st round pick next year?
Wow, how awesome would that be for McNabb owners. The precendent is there for the Iggles grabbing up a WR a bit late in the offseason with Stallworth a few years ago. Again, different scale but it's in the same mold. Are the Iggles still shopping Lito, haven't been keeping up on how that's played out?

nice.

Hey Andy,

Put down the cheeseburger and get on the phone with Arizona and offer up that extra 1st rd pick you got at the draft and get a WR here that can play a little defenses actually have to worry about.

Yours truly,

Eagles fans

Throw R Brown or G lewis in for good measure.

Boldin was just on the Michael Irvin show on ESPN radio in Dallas, singing the same story about Cardinals mgt and Wisenhut breaking their promises to him to get a contract done. If the contract offer Boldin described is correct (4 year extension, no guaranteed) then I can't blame him for being pissed.

When asked if he would play this year without a new contract, Boldin said he didn't know if he would or not.

Heard that interview as well, Boldin said the offer was a slap in the face. If the offer was no guaranteed, i'd have to agree with him. It was a good interview to get a feel on where Boldin is coming from.

My gut says he plays this year with a chip on his shoulder.

I was wondering if my PC went into a time warp or something.I hate this Oprah show cryfest BS. Either pay him or don't, and either play or not, but make up your friggin minds.

I'm with you on the cryfest BS. How about they don't pay him and play him...just like last year...and next year... Bolding obviously has ZERO leverage here and he would be best served to shut his pie-hole and play out his contract. 2 million a year must be really tough to live on...

So, you'd be OK with the guy sitting across from you making 5x what you make for doing the exact same job. You're every bit as qualified as he is, and infact have more experience. Yet, you're boss is paying him 5x as much. You'd show up and work your ### off and not say a thing, eh? Well, that's one way to waste the better part of your life. I'm sorry for your kids :hey:

Face it....a Boldin for Chad Jackson and a 2nd rounder trade between the Patriots and the Cardinals is on the horizon.

:sadbanana:

The Eagles have two first-rounders, and neither should be particularly high. Surely they don't like that many offensive linemen?

Ship a first to the Cards for Q and a filler, give him $40 million and then release him next year when he asks for more money and/or calls McNabb goofy names.

gotta say that the only teams I see where he fits (ie- no legit threat at WR) are:

Eagles

Bears

Seahawks

Dolphins

of these, i don't see any that would be truly willing to make a deal for him. Arizona wouldn't trade Boldin in division to Seattle, Miami would have no purpose to grab Boldin after giving Chambers away, Chicago isn't smart enough to make a deal, and the Eagles don't like signing disgruntled WRs after the TO problem.

Boldin and TO - Not exactly the same level of issues. Agree they dont want headaches after what they experienced in TO but based on recent events to their WR1 & 2, I think they would consider a long term investment in a historically weak point for the team might be a good play. Lito would be a pawn in the deal
