Peyton Hillis (1 Viewer)

What do people expect out of him moving forward- can he maintain productive RB2 and/or *gasp* low end RB1 production?

What kind of offers are people getting for him?

Where do you value him compared to other bigger name players? Is he now more valuable for this season than Michael Turner? Ray Rice? Jamaal Charles? Where does he fall in the hierchy?

This is probably best kept to redraft formats, as I think the consensus from a dynasty perspective is that he won't last...no need to beat a dead horse there.

I'd say low end RB1 for sure. The kid just keeps making the most of his opportunities. I'd also say he may surprise in dynasty as well. Hardesty can't seem to stay on the field and Hillis is a chain mover, can catch out of the backfield and punch it in at the line.

He is a rare 20+ carry RB. This makes him a low #1 strong #2 RB and a must start going forward unless you have two of the top 5.

I guess a better question is where would you rate him at this point? Which of the struggling bigger names would you now prefer Hillis to moving forward this season?

I think he'll be a very consistent RB2 but my worry is that he'll get nicked up at some point due to his fullback running style.

My only concern is the schedule. It's absolutely brutal. I doubt Baltimore or Cincy will let that happen again, especially at the end of the season.

Also add the Jets and Pitt in there.

If I remember correctly he didn't break the 100 yard mark last week until that 40 yarder at the end of the game.

Opportunity is definitely there though. And I hope he can run over these tough defenses, I have so many backs hurt right now.

I thought the fact that his 40 yarder came at the end of the game was actually a big plus. After running that hard against that defense he hit a 40 yarder. Yowser.

Atl has a nice schedule
Yes and Cleveland has a brutal one. That being said, Cleveland's offensive line is looking to be quite good and they are clearly comfortable feeding the ball to Hillis. Also worth noting that Hillis just appears to be running with more fire. Something is off with Turner up to this point, at least to my eye. Can't put my finger on it, but he just doesn't seem to be the same player.

Its such a small but noteworthy overlooked thing: The moment Michael Jenkins gets back for Atlanta, Turner will improve noticeably. Not saying that he becomes All-world but it will be noticeable and that's enough to elevate turner back to where we thought he would be. I don't care for Jenkins as a catcher but he is almost always in the picture making the sealing block on those runs that Turner creases between the tackle and guard and rips off the big gains.

Maybe its coincidental but it just seems to be that way.

His long carry at the end of the Cincy game last week was 24 yds, I think he had a 40 yder in the Baltimore game. That will be typical of the type of bruising back he is. If Clev is in the game, he will keep pounding it and wear down the def to the point where some bigger holes open up near the end of the game.

I have Hillis, Best, and Gore and am thinking of getting rid of one of them to improve my TE or WR. Right now I think Hillis is the better back of all 3 with Gore right behind him. I've been offered Finley for Best and I'm considering it. I think Hillis is going to keep rumbling along this year.

Injuries are sure to pop up, you always need 3 backs in FF. JMO.

Sold on this one, RB 1. I can easily see htop 10 stats by the end of the year, certainly in PPR. If you got him you got lucky. Mark it, book it or whatever you need to do.

Agreed. I have the same 3 backs plus Bradshaw and am still hesitant to trade away any of them.

I just traded for Lynch in my 16 team IDP dynasty league, start 1-2 RBs to make a championship run. I have Hillis and CJ3, with Wells, D.Brown, B.Scott and now Lynch behind them.

I love Hillis, and will ride him as long as I can, but I'm definitely worried about him holding up. He's a big man and delivers a lot of punishment, but he also takes it.

I had way too many RB's on my roster, and in a PPR league, I was able to deal Hills and Harrison for Roddy White. So his value is uber high right now.

My guess is once the weather gets colder, and Harrison is back @ 100%, it will be more of a 70/30 split. I don't see Hillis putting up big numbers towards the middle of the season to the end, especially if Delhomme comes back.

I have been playing Hillis as my #3 Rb ahead of Mendenhall and Bradshaw since week 1. He gets 20+ carries a game, plenty of goalline touches and is even catching passes. At this point, he is one of only a handful of RB's i feel comfortable plugging into my lineup each week.

 Have another please, and get me one too!My biggest mistake of the year was picking up Hillis in my redraft and passing on him in my keeper when i had the chance to pick him up off the free agency list (i would have had to drop Brandon Jackson, Darren Sproles or Goldon Tate in a PPR/keeper format). So i am plenty high on the guy. But i would trade him for any of those guys and throw in Torain as well!Funny thing is, on the team i have him, Deangelo now becomes my RB3. My first pick becomes my 3rd best running back! What a horrible waste of a draft pick that was.

I don't know if he can keep it up, but at the moment he should surely be in lineups every week until we see signs otherwise. Mangini has never seemed to like Harrison except when forced to, and he isn't even getting into the games anymore. Cleveland lost their first two games by 3 points, and I bet they're thinking they could have won both had they given Hillis this kind of workload then.

Teams will figure him out somewhat, particularly given the ineptitude of Cleveland's passing game, but I think he's a strong play going forward. If you have "name" RBs above him (like Plyka, who mentioned Deangelo Williams), you might consider trying to move one of those players for a big return and keeping Hillis in the lineup. We're still early enough in the season that a lot of struggling RBs drafted high retain a lot of perceived value.

This seems like an abberation, and I would say that anyone trading Hillis FOR White should be uber thrilled.

As a point of reference, in a keeper league I am in I was offered the following for Peyton Hills:

Peyton Hillis

Larry Fitzgerald

For

Michael Turner

And

Peyton Hillis

Larry Fitzgerald

Santonio Holmes

For

MJD

I actually do believe Hillis will be solid this year, but his value seems far above the realistic expectations for him at the moment. If I were a Hillis owner (and I am), I think it would be VERY smart to start inquiring about what you could get for him, as it seems people are viewing him as a mid to high RB1 isntead of a low RB1/RB2. I don't think it will be long before we realize Baltimore's run defense is not elite like it once was and that performance he against them, while still impressive, will not look quite as good. Additionally his running style leaves an awful lot of opportunity for injury.

Reading this got me to thinking. Checked the league I have Hillis in and saw the Roddy owner has Portis, Rice and Beanie as his best RB's. I also have depth (can start 3 RB's, flex) so I just sent him an offer of Hillis for Roddy. As far as this thread goes, there aren't many RB's that I believe have a better situation than him this year. As to having him over Gore though, I have definate reservations. Reguardless, he thus far has proven out to be a high end RB and I believe that that will continue on all year.

Jason LaCanfora just retweeted: "RB Peyton Hillis added to injury report today with thigh injury. Was limited." Any homers have the scoop?

Peyton Hillis was added to the Browns injury report as limited with a thigh injury Thursday.

There's no indication that Hillis is in danger of missing this week's game. The fact that he was still able to work in a limited manner suggests he'll be fine for his normal allotment of carries against the Falcons this week

It generally works the opposite way. When a big RB is beating on a defense all game, by the end they are just racking up yards and far more likely to bust a long one. So don't give him extra credit for being tired - the D is more tired than he is.

For those saying they'd rather have Hillis over Gore, I'm just curious -- how do you rank the Top 5 RBs at this point? In my PPR redraft leauge, the Top 10 RBs on a points per game basis through the first 5 weeks are, in order:

Arian Foster, McCoy, Peterson, Gore, Best, CJ, Forte, Hillis, Mendenhall, Tomlinson.

If you prefer Hillis over Gore and Best, I have to assume you're ranking Hillis as a Top 5, maybe even top 4 RB. I have Hillis and I'm rooting for him, but Top 5 seems like a stretch to me.

Today I was offered Miles Austin for Hillis in a 12 team PPR. I believe his value to be at an all time high right now
If you need a WR, and have RB's, I would rather have Austin, and I own Hillis. he has a tough schedule, and his running style screams injury waiting to happen. Do we start Hillis VS Pitt??? they are better than Baltimore.

I've found his trade value to be FAR below expected in my league. He just doesn't have a big name. He's probably worth much more to keep on my team...even though I have a bad feeling about a possible injury as well.
