now from rotoworld:

Trevor Scott-LB- Raiders Sep. 4 - 11:15 am et

Raiders WLB Trevor Scott is expected to see spot duty at right end throughout the season, though he'll remain the team's primary weakside linebacker.

Scott began his career on the line, but was moved to weakside linebacker and beat out Thomas Howard for the starting job. Lining him up at end will give the team needed flexibility and allow them to occasionally use a 3-4 formation.

1. do LB T.Howard lose his everydown or most of the rep player LB in Ock and just the rook is a sure LB overthere?

2. do now, after reading this, Scott back to the DE and Howard to the LB starter?

any1? coz i thought they both are a sure starter for me this season

I thought Shaughnessy was starting at RE with the rookie Houston at LE. Although I do recall reading somewhere that they used a strange on some 3rd downs where both Wimbley and Scott would line up as ends. I didn't think it was part of a 3-4 though.

Tommy Howard, as it stands, doesn't have much value. I can go on and on about it, but suffice to say that right now, he's not a starter, and didn't see any time with the 1's this preseason.

Scott is going to be a LB, and play some DE. He's going to play a lot, and all over the place. LB, LE, and RE. I had some concerns about his ability to cover on early downs, and there was some recent chatter that 6th rounder Travis Goethel was pushing for PT at OLB. That never showed itself in games, and he recently suffered an injury, that no one knows the details of. There is talk he (Goethel)nmight be IR'd.

Cable was kind enough to actually say in a press conference his nickel starters, and at DE they were Scott and Wimbley. The nickel LB next to McClain is a mystery, it might be backup S Mike Mitchell. The next logical guy is Howard.

My opinion on Scott is that he has value in two kinds of leagues: ESPN leagues, where he is listed as a DE, and larger leagues that start at least 3 LB, and give big points for sacks. He's their best pass rusher, and while I don't think he collects as many tackles as Howard does, you can bet he gets more sacks. I could see a good game being 5 tackles, and a sack, with occasional big games. I love him as a guy at the back of your depth chart, that maybe you plug in for byes, and tasty matchups. But I think he might be getting a bit too much play here in the IDP forum, don't overrate him. It is conceivable (just conceivable) that he loses early down snaps at OLB, if he can't hold up in coverage.

Anyway, just one guy's opinion.
