Bowe owners beware (1 Viewer)

Dwayne Bowe showed up 30 minutes late to his first NFL practice.

Not a good way to make an impression with Herm Edwards. Bowe proceeded to drop an assortment of passes, a problem he had early in his career.

Bowe's First Day

Paints a little different picture of his day. Made some great catches, dropped some easy ones. Blamed the day on nerves and such. Don't like that he was late though.....from everything I read about Bowe before was that he prides himself on his work ethic, so I'm going to give him a mulligan on this one.

One day is way to early to be having doubts about Bowe. He has never had any off the field issues, and is known for his good work ethic. I think his drops are probably do to jitters of being a rookie and new to the NFL. By the time the season come around, I think he will have regrouped and step in as the go-to guy for KC.

Imagine yourself with your great new job. The pay is amazing and you get paid for playing a game. Would you show up 30 minutes late your first day?

It isn't overreaction. I would find some reason for concern there.

LOL at another worry wart thread. :lmao:
So you are the Chiefs GM. You have no problem with this? Not the dropped balls of course, but showing up 30 minutes late to work on day 1 no less.
:lmao:
:goodposting: Honestly, I don't get it. Is it really "lmao" and maybe not just "lol"?Can you not form a complete sentence to explain yourself?
:lmao: lighten up francis.lets see him do this a few more times before the panties start wadding up, eh?

I don't have an agenda here. In fact I like to see the Chiefs do well. So I am hoping Bowe is what they need at WR.

Just stating that showing up late your first day on the job is not a great start. I am edgy like that.

joffer: How often have you had a flat tire on the way to work? It has happened to me once in 20 years.

Imagine yourself in the biggest game of your career. The pay is amazing and you get paid for playing a game. Would you forget to bring your helmet? It isn't overreaction. I would find some reason for concern there.- signed Thurman Thomas

:goodposting: We have to cut Thurman some slack. After all he is an Oklahoma St. grad.

The dropped passes is no surprise. He is a master at that. All he will be doing anyway in KC is blocking. He's a bust a coming.

I don't understand this comment, he has very good hands.
No. He doesn't.
I watched quite a few LSU games and from personal experience and expert opinion you are way off base here.
No. I'm not. The fact that he was dropping passes out of the gate verify's my statements. He has 'ok' hands. Far from 'very good'.Every scouting report is the same.

The bad: Bowe may need a little time to refine his talent. He still drops too many passes to rank in elite company and has only good speed. He needs to show he can separate consistently from the top cover men.

Weaknesses:

Timed speed is only average at best and he is not overly quick...Has had a lot of trouble with dropped balls...Let's the ball get into his body too often.

Wow, this is not good news at all.

Bump Samie Parker up in your dynasty rankings.

I just moved him from WR837 to WR824. Buy low while you still can.

I watched as much film on Bowe that I could find here on the net and the dropped passes and aligator arms is somthing that concerned me enough that Bowe was only the 7th WR on my pre-nfl draft list.

Post NFL draft Bowe moved up to 4th on my list based off of opportunity and draft position. However the concern about his hands is somthing that I still have. Especialy for a WR who's game is based much on his physical style of play and going over the middle.

As far as him being late to his 1st day of work.. he better have one heck of an excuse. 1st impressions are very important. He is not starting out on the right foot at all here in getting confidence from the rest of the team. Especialy at the WR position being a player that can be counted on to make the clutch play when it is most needed is a huge deal. Perception is 90% of reality (wrongly so but that is what it is). There is not a lot of margin for error once people start to doubt you.

Bowe had serious drop issues earlier in his career. Supposedly his eye surgery fixed whatever the problem was, but it's not as though he's had several sure-handed years in a row. He only had the surgery a year ago.

I know Bowe is highly regarded by most scouts, but I'm not high on him, at all. He landed in a decent situation, but I'll be very surprised if he ever becomes a WR1.

One day is way to early to be having doubts about Bowe. He has never had any off the field issues, and is known for his good work ethic. I think his drops are probably do to jitters of being a rookie and new to the NFL. By the time the season come around, I think he will have regrouped and step in as the go-to guy for KC.
Didn't Bowe have some attitude issues during Senior Bowl week which rubbed some people the wrong way?

This comment from Pro Football Weekly's write-up on Bowe may provide some insight on his day one transgression: "Not very smart."

I'm going to step out on a limb and say Larry Johnson and Tony Gonzales will be the go-to guys this season. :goodposting:

And Bowe will be the go to blocker for them.

Interesting that Bowe is 30 minutes late and he's bashed on the boards, but Meachem shows up out of shape and dings his ankle on day one... not a peep.

:lmao: I think someone is trying to get Bowe on the cheap. Here's the tale of Meacham's "stirring" debut: Too Hot?
I love the the excuse that he visited 9 teams and they all gave him big meals. Give me a f'in break. You're supposed to be a professional athlete.....is it so hard to pass on pie ala mode with dinner? C'mon, that is just such a sorry excuse.....you're out of shape because teams wined and dined you.

Actually, according to the Cheifs' GM, it will be their rookie draft pick that will be the go-to guy this season:
"I went down to Gunther Cunningham’s office after we did this (drafting K Justin Medlock) and told him you officially will play good defense and we’ll kick field goals."
:goodposting: Looks like the Herman Edwards transition is pretty much complete.

Bowe scares me. I like Bowe as much as I liked Rashuan Woods. I cant see any difference between the 2.

 Does Bowe aspire to become a Pro Bass fisherman as well? Not impressed with Bowe in the least. He's riding Russell's coattails. There are quite a few rookie WR's not named Calvin Johnson that will put up better numbers.Gonzalez, Sidney Rice, Jarrett, possibly Meachem but only because of where he went, Jason Hill.On top of that, the Chiefs are going to suck and are heading south. That once brick wall like O-line is nothing now.

The article says 20 minutes late. This is a non-story. :wall:
