Dez Bryant removed from Jags and Browns' draft board (1 Viewer)

Multiple sources tell the Florida Times Union that Dez Bryant has been removed from the Jaguars' draft board due to character concerns.

A Browns source also revealed to SI's Peter King that Bryant is no longer on Cleveland's draft board. The Jaguars have a history of drafting bad seeds at wide receiver (Matt Jones, Reggie Williams), and don't want to repeat the mistake, even if Bryant is a far superior talent to both. The Jags are supposed to have more interest in high character guys like Riley Cooper (Florida), Taylor Price (Ohio), and Eric Decker (Minnesota) in the middle rounds. Apr. 13 - 8:55 am et

hmmmm

makes me wonder if he's gonna turn out a bit like Randy moss.Tons of people passed on him. The NFL isnt a bunch of boy scouts. I'd take him in a heart beat. The man can play the game

Pretty sure Bryant really doesn't care that he won't be going to the place where WR's careers die (Jax).

a-men to that, but it will be interesting if he drops to the bottom of the 1st rd. That will only help his value if a good team drafts him. I'm excited.

There was a guy named Jimmy Smith...perhaps you have heard of him?Cut by both Dallas and Philly - went to the Jags and ended up his career #7 on the career receptions list?Just saying...he only retired 4 years ago, not exactly a lifetime...

I love it! As the owner of the 1.01 pick in one of my leagues I'm getting all giddy at the idea of him landing on the Pats, Colts, Chargers, Packers...in other words, GOOD teams!

I could see him turning out to be more like Terrell Owens/Chad Ochocinco myself. Talent wide receiver who gets the spotlight on himself and despite having solid seasons, is more remembered for his "off field" antics.People also forget that Randy Moss got away with a LOT under Tagliabue that if done under Goodell, would've merited suspensions at the least.

Character concerns make fantasy owners happy? This thread is whack!

This guy being pulled off boards is NOT a good sign. This could be a red flag that a head case like Charles Rogers is what Bryant turns into, this is BAD, not good. For real?

Bryant is an interesting case because he doesn't publicly have any huge red flags but rumors persist about him showing up late to practice, meetings and even games. Throw that in with the suspension for lying about his contacts with Sanders and him bizarrely showing up to show support for Pacman Jones at his workout and you could see why teams might be worried. But for 2 teams to leak information that he's off their board more than week before that draft still seems odd.

If Dez leads the league in TD's his rookie year he'll get away with a lot under Goodell as well.

Of course, if that was the guy I wanted i would be leaking the fact that he's not on my draft board too. So perhaps he would fall to me. Hmm....................

Anyone remember Keenan McCardell too?

i dont believe anything anyone says at this point. why would you leak your draft board? would it serve ANY purpose at all?

There was a guy named Brunell throwing to him. Not Garrard.

Yeah....Brunell again.

:goodposting: It's been said time and time again but some in the Shark Pool apparently need to be reminded.

Don't believe anything you hear about any "leaked" information regarding teams draft boards and preferences in April.

First round WR picks have historically been a risky proposition and can be difficult to grade. Add in some character issues and you get Dez Bryant. This guy does not carry the same draft grade as a Randy Moss or Calvin Johnson type of elite WR prospect, so it doesn't surprise me that he is reportedly dropping down draft boards although this is probably a smokescreen and the Jags already have a jersey ready with his name on it.

A couple things I find interesting here. Jacksonville was never going WR, they have some talent at that position plus they don't pass enough to make it worth taking Dez Bryant.

Cleveland coming out and saying this should not really surprise anyone. They already did the draft a high pick at WR, TE, RB, QBs, I really think they are going to go against the grain and give their 2011 HC-Ryan and give him some tools to work with.

On a side note, I was not the biggest Dez Bryant fan until very recently and now I am starting to think he is going to make a personal mission much like Randy Moss did and make every one of these grandstanders and GMs that pass him up wishing they had taken him and wondering why they ever passed him up.

Dez looks on a different planet to me compared to all the other WRs coming out this year. He has that edge, that "it" factor that most WRs need in order to make it in the NFL. I am a little worried he might be overconfident but he looks very determined and this guy might be a level or two over some of the very strong WRs we saw a year ago. I like Dez a step or two behind Calvin Johnson when he came out but Bryant looks like the goods. I would have a hard time in Dyanasty with what to do at #1 this year. Stud WRs are hard to acquire.
