Rex Grossman=steal (1 Viewer)

I picked him up right before the season started. He has been lights out against the Lions and played well last week. He reminds me of Drew Brees of a couple years ago. This guy is making all the right decisions and is playing behind a solid line. He hasn't gotten much press fantasy wise but that will change after this week! 3 TDs at the half!

He showed he was capable of monster games at Florida, although what QB under Spurrier wasn't, not a bad #2 or #3 QB. Check out the Bears passing numbers under Ron Turner the first time around. I believe Kramer had 30TDs.

I've been way down on him but he's certainly playing well and more importantly with confidence. I don't have a lot of faith he'll stay healthy but he's an obvious pickup if you need a QB.

Grossman is a servicable QB as long as his defense gives him room to work with.

But once they start playing tougher teams.....and he's got to come from behind.....I think we'll see him drop a bit.

Still, he looks better than some of the other "lower tier" QBs (Simms, anyone?)

So is the rambling of him geting pulled finally over?
I'd think so. A QB rating of 150+ will usually keep your job. ;)J
Will one bad week change that though?
It shouldn't. This is the same Lions defense that shut down Hass and the Seahawks in their home opener last weekend.
I didn't watch the game, but did Detroit actually "shut down" the Seahawks last week, or did the Seahawks just underperform? ...If I were to wager a guess, I'd think that it's something like 60%-Seahawks didn't click, and 40%-Detroit's defense. That said, Chicago's schedule looks nice this year and if Grossman can keep this up he could definitlely beaan every week starter. Something I never would've guessed before the season, but looking at the situation it kind of makes sense and adds up. Solid line, strong running game, decent wrs, cake schedule, finally healthy, good coaching, etc...

Wondering if I should grab him, Man I already have Culpepper (Yuck I know, he actually finished with 228 and 1 TD), Pennington, and Rivers. Hrm.........

In the very least you should cut Rivers. But if it's a league where QBs are remotely valuable (12+ teams), then you'll spend the rest of the year kicking yourself if you don't at least grab him.

Post your roster. And how many of each position do you start?

Cut Smith. :bag: Seriously, with that lineup I'd cut Rivers for Grossman. Or work a 2-for-1 trade so you can have an extra roster spot. I might consider cutting M. Barber but that would depend on what J. Jones did this week.

You're strong everywhere except QB.

I thought he sucked Joe? That's what you were preaching to Jurb and I in one of the game threads during the pre-season. No one has faith he'lll stay healthy, but do you still think he "sucks"? Just want to know what Mr. QB guru thinks.

Hi yormom,Yes. I think he sucks and I think Griese is the better QB. Sorry. :shrug:J

Hi jurb,No, not after this. Not one week. After a great week like this, that buys more "credit". All players work on a credit system. The more good things they do, the more slack they're cut when things go bad. If Grossman had opened week 1 with a terrible week and followed it with another bad week in week 2, he'd be absolutely  and rightly so.When you start like he's done though, he "earns" the "right" to post some ugly weeks. J

what are you sorry for? Not knowing anything about QBs? Just wondering if you still had the same thoughts about Grossman.

I don't think there's any reason to fear an injury with Grossman. Obviously, it could happen, but he's no more injury prone than any other QB.He's had 2 major injuries in his entire football career. One was the ACL tear two years ago, and the other was his broken ankle. Sometimes, ACLs are just ready to go in athletes who have been playing for years, and he planted funny and it popped. Shrug. There's no reason to assume that will happen again. In fact, there's some talk among experts that in such a situation the ACL, if properly rehabbed, will be even stronger afterwards. Then last preseason he had a DT roll over his ankle, and I think that breaks most anyones ankle. That makes him injury prone? He has never been injured by a hard hit or anything like that. Besides, the Bears OL has been giving him tons of time, even against a Detroit team that sacked Hasselbeck 5 times. I'm not saying to expect 3 TDs from him every week, but I don't think anyone should be overly concerned about injury.

Hi yourmm,Where do you rank Grossman right now going forward among QBs and how do you think he'll fare the rest of the year?J

I've got Kitna and Delhomme. I've started Delhomme each of the last 2 weeks. He's scored under 10 points each time. Kita did the same week 1, but had 19 in week 2.

Grossman has done better than both each week.

Any thoughts?

I think he is a middle of the pack fantasy QB. Nice bye week guy, or if he has a really nice matchup. he is not going to be a top 10 fantasy QB. Top 15? maybe. I just wanted to know if you still thought grossman "sucked." We went back and forth in the pre-season thread and I don't want to go over that again. I just couldn't understand how he said he sucked.

Try to pick up Grossman.

picked him up and started him this morning. Favre outscored him (point per completion) but im still happy. Give me another option with my awful favre/simms combo

Can anyone believe we're actually having this conversation? I'm a Bears homer, and if you would have told me that Rex would have a 4 TD game this season, I would have laughed you out of the room.

And if you would have told me there was going to be a thread with the words "Rex Grossman" and "Steal of the Year" in the title, I would have had you committed.

Man, I love this game.

All I want to know, still. Is WTF did so many people write this guy off after only 8 freaking games in his career?

This won't continue - sorry. He's had the element of surprise the past few weeks, nobody expected this and he's beaten guys deep. Sort of like the Brunell start last year. They'll game plan for him and the 181 yard, 1 TD games will return..

I'm betting that is exactly what the Bears want. When teams start preparing for Grossman, that running game will go wild. With their D, that's even more scary IMO.

:goodposting: Not sure how it ended but at the half I was not happy with the TOP numbers. Key going forward for the Bears is getting that running game chugging and keeping that D real fresh, so they can just tee off

I dropped Aaron Brooks for Grossman at halftime :) Of course if I was really smart I'd have done this earlier in the play so I could play him. No way expecting these numbers every week. But a 2 QB league, I could use just some steady play without worrying about benchings, getting killed by a horrible offensive line, and/or loads of turnovers.

Got into a 24 man Dynasty League made up almost entirely of FBG's this offseason. It's two 12 team conferences with separate drafts. We had the initial draft right after the NFL draft. We drafted 26 deep. I grabbed Grossman in the 26th round.

I started him today :banned:

At this point, with Plummer and Green on my team, I'll take 181 and 1 TD!!I still can't believe I picked up Grossman and was happy about it.
