Lamont Jordan Signs in Chicago? (1 Viewer)

It's odd no rumor would have leaked of him being cut yet we have a rumor of him signing? I'd be surprised if the Bears didn't bring someone in to fight with Forte but I'm calling B.S. on this.

Still, thanks for the heads up.

Wouldn't Jordan have to clear waivers before he could sign with another team??
If the Al Davis "Jordan to the Broncos" paranoia is true I could see the Raiders selling Jordan to an NFC team for pretty much nothing just to make sure they dont have to face him if he has a decent comback season

If Al Davis is worried about DEN or another AFC team snaggin' Lamont up...he'd be smart to trade him to CHI for a song & dance. Maybe he'd take a piece of lint or string in exchange if CHI is running empty on song & dances'. :lmao:

Was wondering this too, mostly because I had no idea how NFL waivers work. And if I understand it right, Jordan would be released, not waived..."A player with four or more accrued seasons who is cut, is deemed to be "released."Released players are not "claimed off waivers" in the same manner as mentioned in Number 1 (above). They become free agents as soon as they are cut, free to sign with whatever team wants to make an offer to them. The exception; however, is this: Only after the trading deadline must vested veterans clear waivers before signing elsewhere."

Not so sure the Raiders will accept a piece of lint for him... maybe a box of trail mix.

Fwiw, I google for nfl stories several times a day. Bleacher Report and RealFootball365 are doing a great job working the search engine optimization and showing up before mainstream credible sources. I have stopped clicking on their stories. We need to discourage this kind of amateur journalism. These sites do not have sources or professional journalists. They seek fans who want to create content, then generate enough of it to become popular in searches. But the content is awful. This link is one of literally thousands of examples. Don't click on Bleacher Report stories. Avoid RealFootball365 too.

Also a rumor going around that Elvis is still alive and lives in the produce section at Wal-Mart
This makes for fun Shark Pool banter, but at least this rumor is actually possible and makes sense. We don't know what's going on obviously, but I'm wondering how many of you skeptics fell in love with the Kevin-Jones-to-the-Bears rumors.

The difference is one player (KJ) is a free agent and CAN sign with the Bears and the other one (Jordan) is on another team and can't sign. How can this rumor be possible when Jordan has not been released by Oakland? It may make sense, but it's impossible to sign a player who is owned by another team.

Don't muddle this with facts AB...........................

Bleacher Report are "articles" written by fans.

Go sign up. You can write an article, then link to it here if you like. I have already done so, and you can expect a shocking new rumor in the next day or so. I won't reveal the whole scoop, but......................................(Mike Shanahan=Hermaphrodite).

But it's a "Jordan" - don't you know how Chicago feels about all things Jordan???

OAK is trying to limit the places he'll end up. They are saying they want to trade Jordan but no one is going to give up picks for a player they already know is going to be cut before the season. So the team says to Jordan, you are free to seek a trade with anyone in the league but X, Y, Z.

Jordan goes out and finds a team, which would require he sign a new deal because no one is taking his existing contract. Would the bears maybe give up a 6th or 7th in a trade and sign package? Sure, they could. Have no idea if they "are" but they could. Oak however, is going to hold onto him till the teams they don't want Dayne to play on have been forced to make their roster decisions (all summer) or until they can insure he lands on a team they are OK with.

It's still just a rumor, but it's not false just because he' hasn't been released or officially reported as traded yet.

:goodposting: I thought he'd already been released and was a FA.
