With the VY hype in full effect(a la Michael Vick), and with Leinart playing for one of the least publicized organizations in pro football...his amazing rookie year is pretty much going unnoticed.

You can pretty much bank on it that Leinart is going to be undervalued by the fantasy community. He'll probably be ranked in my #8 - #12 range for '07.

Most publications/websites will erroneously have him ranked much lower than that....probably around the #19 spot.

Here is your first value play for next year. :coffee:

Unless Arizona dramatically changes their offensive philosophy between this year and next, there is no chance in hell he'll be ranked around the 19 spot. Boldin+Fit+pass happy offense=huge stats.

Doubt it. People are able to separate fantasy rankings from real life rankings. It's clear that VY is the better real life QB but Leinart plays in a offense that produces big-time QB stats.

Best Value play QB will be Jason Cambell....sure he throws int's but he's learning the ropes like the others....Offense will be better but he will be ranked so low it will be ridiculous...even the rookie might be over him. This is gonna be the best value play qb....not that he might be startable next year but im willing to bet his value out weighs his precieved value by a long stretch.

 
I guess a big question will be the status of Denny Green. Prior to yesterday's game, the general feeling was that Green is history in Arizona. Will yesterday's win, plus maybe 1-2 more, save Green, or is he out regardless of how Arizona finishes?

If Green is back, Leinart could be fantasy gold with the talent around him (and an assumption that OL play will improve).

If Mariucci comes in, I would be cautious with Leinart. I would target him as a week 3-5 buy low target, as it usually takes some time for an offense to adjust to a new coach.

Leinart will put up numbers with almost any coach...the team is too heavily invested in the passing game.

I agreeI though the best thing (at least fantasy wise) for Leinhart was falling to the Cards.I am going out on a limb and saying he will finish in the top 3 :excited: for QB's next season.He will not be valued very high, but with those kind of weapons he can throw for 3000 yards blindfolded.I think he could finish as high as #1 or as low as #7

I just think it's absolutely ridiculous that he's getting the media coverage...Leinart is clearly a better qb, but yet VY is getting the media coverage...mostly because of his national championship performance.He played like #### against the Giants for most of the game, and then he beat up on one of the worst defenses in the NFL...big f'ing deal.Did anyone see Leinart dissect the Seahawks with his arm and brains, not with his legs???????This isn't even close...Leinart is and always will be twice the QB that VY is.VY is a great story, and may someday will win some playoff games, but Leinart is the next great QB.

:goodposting: He's going to put up sick stats next year...especially since Cards are looking at offensive guys for their '07 coach like Chow and Martz.

Leinart will be great, HOF type of potential.VY will be good, Randall Cunningham type potential.My stance on this has never changed.
 
Why does it have to be an either-or between Leinart & Young? They are both clearly two very young QBs with a lot of potential. It is also clear that they bring different things to the table. Leinart is probably a better passer but Young adds the dangerous quality of being able to run. If their rookie campaigns are any indication, both are in for very nice careers.

You need to watch him play...fantasy stats aren't telling the story. He has looked like a veteran against some strong defenses recently.(Seattle, Minnesota)

It doesn't have to be...but VY is getting the rookie QB hype, so it's overshadowing what Leinart is doing. I guarantee several people who read this thread had no idea how great Leinart has looked, whereas everybody and the grandmother has seen the VY run against Houston...that's why they're linked.

It doesn't if you have the ability to think rationally. They are both having tremendous rookie seasons and they both appear poised to be stars in this league for the next 5-10 years

I'm not disagreeing that Leinart has played well, but your example is way off base. Minnesota has one of the best run defenses in the NFL, but their pass defense is atrocious givng up yardage. Seattle's defense is no where near one of the best in the league. And, I think your street cred went out the window when you used the phrase "street cred."

That said, I don't really care, I'm just curious as to why people have to disparage VY to think Leinart is a great young QB. Those 2 shouldn't have to be correlated.They are both great young QBs that are having great rookie seasons. I think it's going to be fun to watch them lead their teams for the next 10 years. They are both great for the NFL.

I knew I was missing someone. And yes, I agree on McNabb. I'm simply pointing out that there are about 10-12 possibilities here so I don't see how in any way that Leinart is ranked #19 in preseason.

Without him starting they are 0-3. With him they are 6-4. Is this really that hard for you to see?

I can't imagine he will be, but stranger things have happened. That offense is too potent to be ignored - Warner got a solid ranking preseason and Leinart is way more talented IMO. As far as hype -- at first Leinart got lots of pre and post-draft press - mostly for being 'Hollywood' but in general folks were talking about him way more than VY.It's changed now since Vince has made some great highlight reel plays. Ultimately I think they are both playing well -- I will say Young has far fewer weapons than Matt whivh makes some of what he has done more impressive. But they are both well on their way to becoming very good QBs.I think the Titans and Cards should be arrested for theft -- they got steals with those guys - especially the Cards -- no way Leinart should have left the top 10 (well - 9 -- he was the #10 - my memory was fogged). :no: ... in my opinion.....

Just throwing out a prediction. :shrug: And I'm sure you would agree that most rankings are pretty bad.12 will be too low, but I'd still be surprised if he gets that much love.

I actually look at what he does as a QB. There is no question VY is helping his team win, but I'm not impressed with what he has done as a passer.To be a great QB in this league you have to be a great passer...that will never change.
