Laurent Robinson -- Jump on the mini-train (1 Viewer)

This is a guy I've been holding onto in quite a few leagues since 2 years ago. I was actually initially bummed about the trade to St. Louis but it's starting to look like this is the best thing that could have happened to him. Great route runner, great hands, athletic, and the opportunity is now there.

We've seen a lot of talk about Schilens and the train got derailed with his injury. Here is a similar guy with similar opportunity with similar LOW draft spot.

This is a guy that I think should be getting a little more chatter on here....so here it is :2cents:

He'll be good if Bulger can hit him from his butt. St Louis will blow. The O-Line is terrible and Bulger will be looking through his ear hole all year.

Picked him up in the $1 derby in my dynasty salary cap auction in June, looks like the gamble is going to pay off!

I think he's one of those guys with very little risk for the draft position with reasonable upside involved. FWIW (and for others' reference) I got him at pick 202 in a league with 14 teams where you start 3WR (can flex 4th) with PPR.

The question that is nagging me about him is how will he do when Avery is back? Can that team really support two fantasy startable WRs?

My thoughts exactly....add to that the fact that St Jackson will get a lot of dump offs and I just don't see that many balls going Robinson's way.

Donnie Avery : Avery sprinting at full speed

THE NEWS

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that Rams' wide receiver Donnie Avery is sprinting at full speed. Avery has been sidelined since August 7 with a broken foot.

OUR VIEW

We knew Avery was ahead of schedule, but sprinting at full speed this soon is even better than we thought. He wants to play right now, but the team will be very cautious with him during the preseason. It looks very possible that he could be ready for Week 1, which would be a huge boost for the Rams' offense and Avery's fantasy value. We will keep you updated.

Avery had 53 receptions last year, Holt had 64, while Jackson had 40. I'm not sure why they (Avery & Robinson) couldn't each be around 60 this season as well.

Running in a straight line is all good and everything, but can he cut?

I don't see why not, especially if they get down in a lot of games, which they probably will. Secondly, Avery isn't a lock for anything. Yes, he had a nice rookie year, but he's not guaranteed to continue that success. He will likely be slowed for at least the first couple of weeks, if he's even back, which gives LRob a chance to show what he has. Who's to say that LRob doesn't start to steal the show? I'm not saying he will, but it's not a definite he won't.And of course, the most important thing is that LRob costs a fraction of the cost of Avery. He's going into the teen rounds easily.

I just picked him in a draft yesterday in the 14th round (pick 167). I do think he can catch 60-70 balls this season, and even more if he by chance out performs Avery.

I've also had him in a dynasty league for the past 2 years, with Harry Douglas going down in ATL I bet they regret the trade a little.

Very astute point, Switz. Not to mention that Robinson brings some size into the equation. I like him as the best WR red-zone threat. I'd say that touchdowns could very well determine who scores more fantasy points between Robinsons and Avery.

I've held onto Robinson in my dynasty league since he was a rookie...I'm hopeful...but he's shown flashes before and then always manages to get hurt. Lets hope he stays healthy.

Here's my ticket I'm on the L. RObinson Train. I just dropped Mike Walker WR Jags to pick up L. RObinson WR Rams. I'm in a 14team PPR dynasty league. I really like this kids upside. He's a 3rd Year WR. If you look at the games he has played when he was healthy he catches most of the targets thrown his way. He has motivation for the Falcons letting him go so easily. And the Rams will be playing from behind most of the season. Which means a lot of targets for him and Avery. I'd say L.Robinson is a solid WR 3 in most leagues.

Well the 6 times St.L manages to get into the red-zone this year I'm betting more on Jackson seeing the touches.

Really??? I mean really. I thought you were better than this jurb. ;)

The Rams were pretty much behind all of last season. Their WR corps put up 172-2141-10 = 289.6 fantasy points.Honorable mention also needs to go to Keenan Burton, Ronald Curry, and Randy McMichael, all of whom will be in the mix. I don't see STL having 3 guys with 60 catches (counting Jackson as one).

I've been waiting for this guy to get his shot, first year in the league he showed a little bit of what he had, injury second year really got him out of ATL quick... now LRob seems to be pulling ahead of Avery for #1 on St.L.

Going to stand behind my 60-70rec guess, looks like he has a good shot at getting over 1k rec yards, it'll be that offense and the number of times he sees pay dirt that keeps his value down for now.

Don't wanna jinx him, but I think it's obvious now that LRob is the #1 in StL.....for what that's worth. I already started him week 1, & plan to use him more than I initially thought

I'm honestly considering dropping avery for him...two weeks in a row avery has gotten me negative points...

 He's been on and off my roster every season in my short roster dynasty league. I knew he was going to do well as soon as he got out of ATL.

They should have never let him go. Man, I so wanted to pair him with Matt Ryan.

I'm very happy with his emergence. I am hopeful the Rams are a good fit for him for a number of years. I expect the Rams to be bad, and throw a lot. It should help him keep his value.

Bias alert:

He's on every single team I have - redraft & dynasty.

I'm on. I picked him up last week in 3 leagues after watching the SEA/STL game and confirming what I saw with the targets numbers. Are people comfortable putting him in their lineups yet?

tallest and arguably fastest receiver on a team that will always be behind and throwing, what's not to like? he's no stud or anything but you can do worse for a 3rd/4th guy. started him first two weeks and he has pleased me...has made me look smart too. :bowtie:edit: well the rams did sign ruvell martin recently so maybe LR isnt the "tallest" anymore, but...

Hey Gr00vus,You're on the LR express, but not the MSW train. Just injury concern? Or is there more?

Starting him with confidence over royal although i would be confident starting koren robinson on his UFL team over Royal at this point.

Injury mainly, but I also like LR's situation a bit better as he's the #1 target on his team 2 weeks in a row. Bulger is a better throwing QB than Garrard. Jacksonville has one of the best RB SOS while StLouis has one of the worst - meaning Jacksonville can probably stay with the run longer/more effectively. Their WR SOS is almost dead even - except for FF playoff weeks when St Louis has a very nice schedule and Jacksonville has a mostly bad one. The last straw is the apparent craziness that is going on with the Jaguars franchise as reported by the Jags heads on this board. It's sounding like the front office is in full power play mode. Out of chaos comes opportunity and all that, so it could work out for Walker - then again the current regime may want "their guys" playing, and Walker isn't one of those.Fundamentally I see roughly a bit more reward potential with LR and less risk.
