For the first time since Vick came into the league, his ADP actually represents value.
From a FF perspective, Vick is no less consistent than such rock-solid icons as Trent Green or Matt Hasselbeck (or Peyton Manning, for that matter). Several here have posted the numbers so many times (& recently, too) that I'm not going to go look for them right now. Look up how many games Vick scored in single digits compared to Green or Manning. Look at how many weeks he scored within, say, 5 or 6 pts of his average; then look at the others. What people seem to have a hard time dealing with is the fact that he gets his FF points differently than most QBs. But he still gets them, which is all that matters to me. To throw his numbers out there & say "he's inconsistent - look" without doing the same for his peers can lead to misinterpretations. You can't look at any one player's stats in a vacuum & say he's more or less anything.Vick is the most frustrating talent to enter the NFL in the last 5 years (or so) from the fantasy perspective, IMO. I live in Macon GA and get innundated with Vick news, highlights, etc., and I believe the following sincerely.
When he is dialed in, Vick can dominate a game. He throws laser passes (at times) that hit guys between the numbers, or just on their fingertips (when that's the throw that needs to be made). He forces opposing defenses to dedicate a player to shadow him. His highlight reel is jaw-dropping.
However, he just isn't consistent, and his passing mechanics are to blame. IMO, Michael Vick bought into the hype about him being a world-beater, and has failed to progress as a pro. The coaching staff in Atlanta has done everything they can to accomodate his skill set, but he still has games where all the Georgians I know start calling for Matt Schaub. Look at his game logs from 2005 here. The question prospective Vick owners need to ask themselves is this: Am I willing to absorb several games in the range of week 15 2005 (13/32 for 122 yards, 0 TDs and 2 interceptions with 6/35/0 rushing (vs. Chicago)) in exchange for several games like week 11 (21/38 for 306 yards, 2 TDs and 0 interceptions, with 4/17/0 rushing, vs. Tampa Bay).
I selected those examples to illustrate this post because they were both games against quality defenses. Trying to play matchups and make a call when Vick will blow up is very challenging. That's why I call him the most frustrating talent in the NFL over the last 5 years. In my experience, he can blow up for a huge game anytime, regardless of the opposing defense. When he's on his game, he's that good. When he mails a game in, he really tanks bigtime.
My .02.
Yeah, it should be obvious by now that Vick will never be a superstar talent for FF or in pro football (sorry ATL fans, you'll never win the Superbowl with Vick). However, he may be a serviceable FF backup (even though I prefer consistent players for my backups) and if he starts strong he can be great trade bait. He does have a big name so his trade value can be high.
I drafted him in the 11th round of my draft, so my hunch is that no one in my league wants him. But I just couldn't let him sit there. He's my 3rd QB, but it was the 11th round! How could I not pick him up?

I think this is a rediculous statement. Look at what vick has to work with. A terrible o line and no wrs. COnstanly changing ofensive systems. Still HE WINS. Look at his stats. he SINGLE HANDEDLY brought his team to the playoffs on two occasions. Vick doesnt have to have a stellar game to make a difference. Just him being on the field sometimes messes up a defenses scheme. God forbid the man ever gets some decent recievers and some time in the pocket!Yeah, it should be obvious by now that Vick will never be a superstar talent for FF or in pro football (sorry ATL fans, you'll never win the Superbowl with Vick).
