Joseph Addai buy low thread (1 Viewer)

Saving this for after week 3 when Addai owners will be very frustrasted by their first round pick and you may be able to get him for cheaper value then usual. Not only has the team lost Saturday & Lilja but their first 3 opponents are CHI, MIN, & JAX and in week 4 they will have a bye. Yikes.

Interesting.

Since you started this thread, what's the word on when Saturday & Lilja might be back and how does the last 2/3 of the schedule look, especially playoffs?

Indy plays Cin/Det/Jax weeks 14-16. The Jax game looks bad on paper, but if Jax and Indy are fighting for a playoff spot, Indy and Addai will leave it all on the field.

You're ####in annoying. Im not saying the guy will have a bad year. As a matter of fact I think he will have a great season. I own Addai (selected with the 5th pick). I just think its inevitable he starts off slow this year due to some other factors and astute owners need to pay attention and try to buy low after week 4. Just giving everyone a heads up.

Got under your skin, did I? I'm just thinking it's really unlikely anyone is going to trade Addai right before or after he BYE's, given that even if he struggles a little bit his first three games, most, if not all, owners are going to be thinking that the ship will straighten out after the BYE.It's really really difficult to get someone's first round pick on the cheap. By all means if someone is willing to let their first pick go cheap, it's probably a good acquisition for someone else. I just don't see many owners really willing to do that. :goodposting:Looking at last year, how many owners clung to Reggie Bush, even when he struggled, simply because they spent a first, and wanted first round value in return.

Bush was a Top 10 RB in PPR leagues last year. So his owners in those leagues had every right to hold out for first-round value in return if they were looking to trade him. In the Colts' thread, you said you thought Addai would be negatively impacted by the injuries the Colts have on their offensive line. If your prediction holds, it's very possible his owners will be looking to cut bait with him after nearly 20% of the season has been played. As an Addai owner, I'm having a little buyer's remorse (in hindsight I wish I had taken Gore with the fourth pick in my draft) but am hoping the Colts will find a way to be an explosive offense as usual despite all the questions they currently face.

Just a reminder about this thread since there could be a lot (deservedly so in my opinion) of angry Addai owners after tonight's game. He looks awful and is being outclassed by Matt Forte.

any player is attainable. No way do you get him after the bye. The time to shoot for Addai is after next week - BEFORE the bye. If the owner is 0-2, facing a tough matchup week 3 and then the bye - sure, a deal is possible. You can't go 0-4 in FF. Of course you'd have to put an up and comer like Forte and a decent 1B tier WR to get him - so will it be worth it? Addai was one of the RB's who destroyed me in the post season last year (nice effort vs. the Raiders coupled with FWP breaking his leg same day) - so I won't be trying to trade for him. But he will be attainable IMHO if you like him more than I do.

Oh, i didn't realize he and Forte were running against the same defense... Indy's run defense is horrible

I think the concern Addai owners have right now is if he throws up another dog of a game next week he could be destroying his owners' chances for success this season. It's tough to win if your first-round pick plays poorly. He and Tom Brady had by far the worst games today of the consensus first-round picks in drafts this year. Brady, at least, had an injury as the reason why he gave his owners nothing. Addai just looked horrible. Plus he got hurt again. Given how the Vikings' run defense is much better than Chicago's, it's hard to see him doing much next week. I don't think it's out of the question to bench him if you have better options - and quite frankly, there weren't many worse options than Addai this week.

It was considerably better than Chicago's last season. Give the Bears a lot of credit. They played great tonight. But that doesn't change the fact Addai was terrible.

Brady's injury is an excuse, but Addai's isn't?Honestly, the Bears D totally dominated the Colts OL last night. And that was what most Addai owners (at least the smart ones) expected... The Colts OL is in shambles, and will be until at least the BYE. Hopefully the people who drafted Addai realize that and are smart enough to have drafted insurance for the first few weeks, and won't give him away for nothing.

Sorry if HONDA, but was Addai concussed last night?
I haven't seen confirmation, but it sure looked that way didn't it? I mean he got his bell seriously rung on that play. Seemed like he not only got major helmet to helmet contact on the initial hit, but also got his head slammed into the ground pretty violently at the end of it too. I don't think he knew what planet he was on there for the rest of the game. I hope this isn't an ongoing situation. I think I will be making a move for Hart in the one league I have Addai to backup, Rhodes looked like dirt last night.

Given how Addai was putting up crappy numbers before he left the game I don't see any reason to attribute Addai's horrible Week 1 production to his getting dinged in the head. I consider myself a smart owner and while I knew the Colts had issues I didn't expect Addai to look so bad against one of the league's worst run defenses last season and I wasn't expecting him to be a total non-factor in the passing game. There had been plenty of discussion about the Colts' offensive line injuries, but if there was a thread talking about how Addai would no longer be involved in the passing game I must've missed that. Do you have a link? TIA.

I'm not sure Addai looked that bad... the OL was crap. Still, they made some adjustments at the half and Addai was starting to look pretty good right before the injury... he had just popped off two good runs at the end of the third going into the 4th. I actually was thinking he might be startable next week right before the injury. He likely has a concussion, so we'll see what the Colts do...

As for the receiving end of things... there were 3 games last season where he saw 1 or fewer receptions. Don't read too much into it.

According to Dungy, Addai should be fine for Week 2. He was cleared to return to the game last night but the Colts elected to keep him out.

Whether Addai being able to play against the Vikings is good news is another issue entirely. In fact, there may be a thread about that very subject somewhere around here.
