Kevin Boss.... the heir apparent ? (1 Viewer)

Ron_Mexico

I Love Doggies
Will there be a permanent changing of the guard at TE

for the New York football Giants ?

Seems like the Shockey injury is pretty severe,

but he's still only 27. I've heard some good stuff about

Boss, and he will have a chance to show his wares.

I was thinking it would be Brandon Marshall, but I'm not sure anymore since he's guilty of DUI.

Shockey's a top TE when healthy. He rarely is but it's too hard to bench that enormous talent. Boss is nowhere near as talented. I could see both having value as he fills in for Shockey often. He's not taking Shockey's spot though, Rivers or Shiancoe would have done that if someone could.

Shockey broke his leg and you're acting like this is career threatening? There is no changing of the guard at TE for the Giants but Boss is a good looking rookie who can provide some depth behind the oft injured Shockey for the Giants next year.BTW, in the weird stat department, the Giants have now lost three starters to broken Fibulas this year.

I picked up Boss earlier tonight in one of my leagues just for the hell of it. It's a points only, start 2 at every position league, and I'm pretty much in control. Dropped LJ Smith for him. I'll be rooting for the rook come Sunday.

No permanent change. The job is fully Shockey's as soon as he can get back on the field.

Eventually Boss will overtake Shockey's over-rated, always hurt, primadonna ###. The Giants will not resign him again (whenver his contract is up)after Boss shows what he can do. He will actually stick around during the off-season and work with Eli. Not eff around in south Florida.

Terrible posting. It's like you didn't even do any homework on this, or have seen Shockey play or know what you're talking about. I'm rather disappointed because I had thought you were better at posting than this - or did his injury bias you in some way? Lose him for your game?Anyway.... to refute your comments:

Shockey has missed 5 regular season games in the last 4 years, playing in 15, 15, 15, and now 14 games. Yes he gets nicked, but he plays.

Anyone else remember him running hard after a catch without his helmet? I do....No Helmet

Shockey is signed through 2011, an extension he signed in 2005. He will be 31 in 2011. His base salary does go up to $2+M next year and a shade over $3M in 2009, but the smallish increments up to $4.5M in 2011 probably will be a relative bargain given the increases in the salary cap each year, especially for a #1 TE.

Boss will show what he can do for 2 games and then the postseason, but it won't push Shockey out of town.

TE Shockey Works Out With Teammates

Steve Serby, New York Post - [Full Article]

Giants TE Jeremy Shockey returned to New York last last week to get some reps with QB Eli Manning. He said he prefers to work out on natural grass to prevent injury, which is why he trains in Miami. "You'll never see me report to training camp out of shape. If that ever happens, I'll be the first one to relocate my workout routine," Shockey said.
I'm usually not one to rail on a post, but this was just so full of wrong information that it had to be refuted.

Oh, and I'm an Eagles fan.

To be on topic, we have a good amount of coverage on Kevin Boss this week. He'll be discussed in the Dynasty Watch and in the Staff Roundtable, and we added him to the Waiver Wire Watch right after the injury.Stay tuned as things get posted today.

Do any of you watch the Giants. While Boss may be big, there is a reason why he was a late round pick. He doesn't have good hands and has no speed. Take it from someone who follows the Giants

Shockey is the key. As long as he's there, Boss is next to valueless.

I view Shockey's relationship with the Giants and their fans as being comparable in many ways to McNabb with the Eagles and their fans. They're both high profile players and among the best and most recognizeable for their respective teams, but I wonder whether their antics and shortcomings as players won't spell early departures for them.

http://www.thefootballexpert.com/kevinboss070002.htmlWhat is your accurate height, weight and forty time?

Kevin Boss: 6'7 255 and recently at my pro day I ran a 4.66

I'd say that's fast enough. You are way wrong also on the hands part. Go to the Big Blue Wrecking Crew and make the same statement. Watch the response.

So, you get completely owned/own3d/pwned and then claim you are fishing. That pretty much put you over the top to land in my ignore list. Bad form.

He's not an unknown by sharks. He should have been drafted by the TE-less Seahawks but they dropped the ball bigtime on Boss. The guy is good. Period. Anyone watching the combine should know this. He needs blocking work that's about it. I've been waiting for Shockey to get out of the way as I would like to unload Heap on another team and grab Boss as my #2.

Oh ok, so now you're defending your "fishing" as fact again? :coffee:

Oh yeah, on this part. Just to let you know. That article was My 23rd. Remember it as the Giants message board lit up with 'ABOUT TIME' he shows up. A qoute: Giants' program late last week but said, "me spending time up there is not gonna make that big a difference."

Love that line. He was wrong. One might want to be in sync with the QB. He's not.

Oh ok, so now you're defending your "fishing" as fact again?
Jump on dude!Read:

http://boards.giants.com/forums/thread/584934.aspx

These guys, like me, know infinately more about Boss than you guys.

Fact, fishing, whatever. Boss is good and will prove it. I like the fact that Shockey is out of there. He's part of the problem.
You're missing the point. I'm not criticizing Boss (who I picked up this year in a dynasty league actually), I'm ciritcizing your lame not-fishing/fishing/not-fishing schtick.

Some noteworthy comments from TC at his press conference today:

How has Kevin Boss developed in regards to his blocking?

He has improved, there is no doubt. He had a couple of good blocks the other day. He has gotten stronger. Obviously for all of you, you can’t miss that, he comes in here at 250-something and he is 270 now, so he has gotten stronger, he has gotten bigger.

Tight ends coach Michael Pope said that when he worked Boss out he could tell he could become a good blocker?

The discussions all circulated around what the scouts found and what Mike found in his workout and so on and so forth. A young guy that was featured really as a receiver tight end and would have to learn the other parts to the game and has really meticulously studied those parts. Even to the point where he didn’t even leave on the bye week, he was here.
