I Drafted Ron Dayne ! (1 Viewer)

i held off for a long time. he's my #3/4 dynasty RB behind Portis, Foster and De'Angelo Williams. i couldn't stop myself from the risky upside. i could've picked Barlow, Gore, Greg Jones, or most other backups. is there a number i can call. help.

Funny how all of the Denver homers around here like Lammey, SSOG, Pony etc. etc. seem to have Dayne ranked significantly higher than the consensus. Perhaps it's because they know something that others refuse to realize. :rocketscience:Dayne is the starting RB for Denver and he doesn't get injured...say it 100 times slowly.

It's also funny that only one Den homer had Anderson ranked higher last year....

True, I didn't understand that either...I was pimping Anderson after it was clear he was starting along side Tinker Bell.

there is too much upside there to pass it off as "never will happen", especially so early in the year. i was also contemplating the thought of a huge RBBC and having to figure out Shanny each week

I drafted Dayne at 8.10 in the new HyperActive Dynasty league (all FBGs) :D It was pretty cool getting the Denver starting RB that low.

I'm on your side on this one, but it does bear noting that Dayne is the starter FOR NOW (not that I expect that to change). And it's easy to stay healthy when your number of carries the past 3 seasons has been 53, 52, and 0 with 2 other seasons before that under 200 carries.

No, I did not miss it. It was a joke. He saw it as one, sorry you did not.

Congratulations! You just bought a 28 year old, who is entering his 6th year in the league and has yet to post more than an 800 yard 7+ Td season. If you took him in the top 150 you greatly overpaid for him. Denver has a nack for taking a player and regardless of production shipping him off. R Dayne as a member of any team other than Denver = no value. R Dayne competing for time against T Bell and ?, = very litte value to me either.

I like the pick. At best he becomes a workhorse Denver RB, which is fantasy gold. Even chance he doesn't see workhorse carries but still becomes a strong RB2 with solid production. Slight chance he splits time with other RB and gives you up and down production - basically bye week filler material. Low chance he doesn't see the field and you wasted a RD 8 pick. With regards to risk/reward and price tag (8th rd pick), I don't think you need any help.

I like this talk...please keep it up. I just offered Dayne and Branch for CJ in my dynasty league. Threads like this might help.

I drafted Dayne in the 13 round (#181) of our initial dynasty draft. I know it's June, but all the talk of Barlow, Duckett, etc is killing his early trade value.

T-A-T-U-M B-E-L-LDayne can't outrun a DT.

He doesn't have to.

as much as i don't like Dayne in a redraft, i don't like him a WHOLE BUNCH MORE in a dynasty.
I remember seeing similar negativity from you a few years back regarding Thomas Jones. While it would obviously be foolish to assume that Dayne will experience a similar rebirth, I think it would be equally hazardous to bury him on the basis of what he did in New York. One thing I've learned from FF is that you should never count out a former first round pick until his career is over. Guys like Tyrone Wheatley, Eddie Kennison, Thomas Jones, Garrison Hearst, and Terry Glenn have shown that a change of scenery can really help to jump start a lagging career.

It's part of the reason why I think William Green is a great bargain in dynasty drafts. People have a tendency to write players off if they don't immediately produce. It's important to remember that some players take a while to adjust to the NFL level and that sometimes a particular scheme just isn't suited to a player's strengths. I was never a big Dayne fan in college, but I do believe that he'll be productive if he keeps his starting job.

That said, I can understand dynasty skepticism. Starters never seem to last long in Denver.

And yet, when all the Titans homers told you Calico was a nothing, you pimped him on this board for 3 years straight. :D

You're determined to never let me live that one down.

I think you did just fine, considering it was the eighth round.

The fact of the matter is that Skeletor just can't stand Bell. I don't think he'll ever get a legitimate shot in Denver. As a result, unless you think Dayne is going to put the ball on the carpet twice per game, average 2.2 ypc, or get seriously hurt, he's a good bet to be the starter alllllll season long, while Bell is the change-of-pace back. And even if Dayne were to get hurt and miss serious time, I wouldn't lay odds that Bell would be the starter.

Man, don't I look stupid for making this statement. On the bright side he didn't cost much.

trainwrecks like this are exactly the reason that you shouldn't hold your draft until a week or two before the season starts.

i'm really not trying to come off like one of those "i told you so" people either, but ####in hell.

Sorry, can't help you. You should have known better. It's probably best to listen to the Giants' fans that warned everyone about his worthless Twinkie gobbling fatazz!

Broncos | Dayne told he's been cut

Sat, 2 Sep 2006 11:53:38 -0700

The Associated Press reports Denver Broncos RB Ron Dayne has been told he's been cut by the team. "I kind of understand. Once I got hurt, the other guys stepped up," said Dayne, who began training camp as the starting running back, but quickly was surpassed by undrafted rookie RB Mike Bell and then suffered turf toe in the preseason opener and didn't play again.

This is the 2nd year in a row that listening to Den fans pre-preseason would have gotten you killed in projecting the Den backfield... wait, 3rd we forget about that Griffin debacle. As I've stated before. Your best served to leave this situation alone until the preseason is well underway.

I woulnd't drop Dayne just yet... GB needs someone better than Noah Herron (sorry Northwestern fans) to complete the backfield behind Ahman and Gado. I predict Dayne becomes a TD vulture up in the cold north before too long...
