Hi all!

We're just getting into the 2007 draft, but if you want to preview a few of the talents coming out in the next year or two, we hope you'll check out the Draftguys review of:

The Texas Longhorns Spring Game.

There's a potential stud RB you may not have ever have even heard about in there...

I told Bloom about this guy a few weeks ago, but those of you pencilling in Patrick as Oklahoma's RB might want to hold off. Patrick is a good player, but there is another RB that has dominated practices and scrimmages.

I apologize if this is hijacking the Horns, but I thought some might want to stay on top of potential players. I have seen Patrick as high as top 5-10 RBs for the 2008 draft. Murray was highly recruited and hurt last year. Keep an eye on this kid.

From the 3/31 scrimmage:

Redshirt freshman running back DeMarco Murray again practiced well.

He rushed 16 times for 132 yards and one touchdown. He had one 65-yard burst and then scored on a seven-yard sweep. The versatile Murray also caught one pass for a 19-yard gain.

“DeMarco’s a special player,” Stoops said. “All spring he’s made plays and he made a lot of big plays today. He’s going to be a boost to us

He excelled and surprised when Spring practices began and has really caught the eye of everyone in the program.

Real good call on Murray. My Nittany Lions were going after him hard and I was pretty disappointed when the Sooners landed him instead. Really liked his high school tape and heard good things about him at the Army All-American practices that year.

Any reports on Sergio Kindle from the game? Is he still going to be a back up this year?
Is Sergio Kindle a RB? I thought he was being recruited as a LB.

Kindle _should_ lock up a starting spot this year. He looked good Saturday, covering lots of ground quickly and finishing his tackles. I wonder if he's actually swarming to the ball so fast he's playing himself out of position at times, but usually Mack Brown gives a LB with that kind of speed the freedom to go sideline-to-sideline.He _looks_ like he still needs to add bulk, but it's mostly b/c he's so tall at 6'4". Right now, he's Derrick Johnson lite IMHO, and that's a pretty good place to be for a sophomore.

I am surprised to hear that he looks lite. They are reporting his weight at 240lbs. I think this kid is going to be a beast eventually. I do wonder if pursuit is hurting him to an extent as well, but mostly glad to hear that he is finishing tackles.

Exactly! he's listed at 238, but he looks like a safety out there because he's carrying that weight on such a tall frame. It's just one of those optical illusions I have to keep reminding myself isn't real.

I like the Pittman call, he's always been a clutch performer. I think he's a little more athletic (standout prep QB) than some of the similar Longhorn WRs that have gone by the wayside lately like Sloan Thomas and B.J. Johnson (oh he of the double phallic name).

Ogbonnaya is definitely on my watch list now. I really wonder where the Jamaal Charles we saw in his freshman year went.

Any word on man mountain TE Jermichael Finley?

Anyone who plays in IDP leagues should take note of this kid. I think he will be in the mold of Derrick Johnson however expect him to be better.

Finley didn't do much on Saturday, but he's definitely a major Te to watch. In 2 years, he may look a lot closer to Vernon Davis than most people realize. As for Jamaal Charles, i'm not sure he's actually any different than his freshman year; a lot of Longhorn and Titan players look a _lot_ better with Vince Young drawing so much of the defense's attention on the field.Charles is fast. He catches well. He's capable of being elusive. But I don't see much aggressiveness, and, frankly, I need to see more of him without VY before I can be sure he's got even decent vision as an RB. He quit the track team this year, which should help him focus, and I imagine he hasn't topped out on his learning curve yet. But right now, I don't see him as much of a threat to carry the load in the NFL.On the other hand, Ogbonnaya could just be getting started. And I don't think he's just a spring tease. He looked quite good in his very limited time last season, and Longhorn insiders beieve he's a potential secret weapon.

A follow up...Murray dominated again in the Red-White game. This kid is explosive.
