Donald Driver shoulder injury (1 Viewer)

Per CBS Sportsline:

On Wednesday, the Packers listed WR Donald Driver (shoulder) as questionable for Week 15 vs. the Lions. Driver did not practice on Wednesday.

Have the Packer homers heard anything about this?

Not a "homer" - but this info has been listed............

from Fanball.........

The News

Donald Driver was unable to practice today due to soreness in his shoulder. He has been listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, and should be able to return to practice later in the week.

Our View

Driver has been a very good fantasy performer for a long time, and it's wise for him to allow his body to recover during the week. He's still Brett Favre's favorite option, and has another monster matchup coming at home against Detroit.

and from rotoworld...........

As expected, Donald Driver (questionable, shoulder) missed practice time on Wednesday.

He's expected to return on Thursday, so eyebrows should not be raised unless he does not do so.

 my only other choice is Caldwell for this week.

I was hoping to hold onto my advantage - my opponent has to take DJax out of his lineup for Mason this week.

Driver is a gamer I wouldn't worry too much about this.

If you have Greg Jennings you might want to consider him if Driver misses any more practice.

I have both and will be playing Driver sitting Jennings for now.

He hurt it before halftime last weekend, and scored that long TD in the 3rd quarter. He'll be fine for the game on Sunday. Also the Packers coach said Driver probably would miss some practice this week to rest it.

Thanks for the information. I wasn't aware that he hurt his shoulder in the game Sunday. Worst case scenario, if Driver can't go, obviously Jennings benefits. For us owners that don't own Jennings, would it be wise to grab Ruvell Martin?

As a Driver owner, I'd be more concerned about his recent history against Detroit.

9/24/06 (Away): 3/20/1

12/11/05 (Home): 4/32/0

9/11/06 (Away): 4/48/0

Seems like maybe Dre Bly has his number. Don't want to overthink in a playoff week, but this warrants consideration.

Interesting information. I don't have any other options at this point in the season.

Thats the truth. So this is not unexpected and Driver allready has shown he can play through this. They are just being cautious with him thats all.

Martin did have a decent showing last week and has moved into the Wr 3 role. You thinking for week 16 if somthing should happen to Driver?I think Driver is going to be a FF playoff star once again this year. His monstous performance against me 2 years ago cost me a title by less than a point. I forget exactly how good a game it was but it was very very good and better than what any of my wrs did that day.. and I had some very good Wrs.Honestly I cannot think of many Wrs I would rather have than him for the next 2 weeks although the Vikings are getting better against the pass since they benched Smoot.

he better friggin play and play well- i already have djax out. perfect timing as usual for djax. you know what- he is a gator and that is his first problem. i am letting the buckeye, santonio play for that friggin loser gator!

Well, I may regret this, but, I just added Ruvell Martin and cut Desmond Clark. I'm going to put my eggs in the Scheffler basket while Ben Watson figures out if he can play :lmao: If for some reason Driver can't go the next couple of weeks, I'd be completely screwed without my boy Ruvell. I may be overmanaging, but, what the hell.

As one of the posters above already mentioned, there was some talk the the coaching staff for the packers were going to give Driver some rest time this week to let his shoulder heal.

I wouldn't be concerned with the injury.

Now the #'s against Dre Bly are interesting though.

It's not Driver, it's Favre. He has historically played poorly against Detroit, especially in Detroit. I personally think he will do fine this weekend and I'm not going to overhtink it. Driver is a stud, start him.

Agreed.

 First, this game is not in Detroit. It's in Green Bay. Second, earlier this year Favre threw for 340 and 3 tds in Detroit. Looks like a good game to me.

Driver's tough and who else do they have? Ruvell Martin and Jennings are somewhat hurt too and that's about it. Driver may not practice but will be fine barring further injury.

I'm not sure at what point in the first half he hurt his shoulder, but I did read that the coaches weren't sure if he was going to return for the second half.

His stats in the second half are 2-74 (68 yard TD). I didn't see any other targets to him in the play-by-play.

Hopefully, us Driver owners will get good news today.

When does the Thursday injury report come out of Green Bay, including the list of players who did/didn't practice? I'm in one of those leagues that locks lineups before the first game of the week (tonight). If he practices, I'll leave him in. If he doesn't and remains questionable, I've got some thinking to do.

I think they would have picked up another WR off the practice squad by now if they really thought he could miss the game. He's playing.

I'm expecting Driver to play, but would feel a lot better about it if I heard he practiced today.

Per Bob Harris, at Football Diehards. Posted (12/14) today at 3:33 PT.

Both Donald Driver and Ruvell Martin are questionable on this week's injury report, though head coach Mike McCarthy said Driver's shoulder injury should be fine. But should either one not be able to play on Sunday, that could mean extensive playing time for newcomer Carlyle Holiday.

I'll keep looking for practice detail.

:wall: Thanks for the great post.. .keep it up

For anyone who hasn't seen this from McCarthy's press conference after practice yesterday:

How are the wide receivers doing and when did Ruvell get back?

Ruvell had kind of a travel nightmare with some plane issues, but he's back. We're just being safe until we have to do more testing. Anytime you have something like a bruise in that area, we're just being smart. Donald is sore, but we all know Donald. He says he's OK but we're just being smart with him. And frankly, it's a good opportunity to get some of the young guys some work. I thought we had a good day. Greg Jennings took his full share of reps today. He's still lingering, with the lingering ankle injury, but I thought they had a good day of work.

Packers Thursday injury report, WR Driver practices

Written by: - ffLiveWire - ¦ 12/14/2006

Source:

Packers T Mark Tauscher (Groin) was upgraded to questionable after practicing on Thursday. WR Ruvell Martin (Chest) and S Atari Bigby (Hamstring) both remain questionable after both missed time again on Thursday. WR Donald Driver (Shoulder), LB Ben Taylor (Hamstring) and TE David Martin (Ribs) all practiced fully on Thursday and remain listed as questionable. RB Ahman Green (Knee) and C Scott Wells (Illness) both returned to practice on Thursday and are both probable. CB Charles Woodson (Shoulder) missed at least a portion of team practice on Thursday but remains listed as probable and should play.

here's the word from CBS if anyone else cares:

Driver expected to play

Donald Driver, WR GB

News: According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Green Bay WR Donald Driver is expected to play Sunday against Detroit despite being listed as questionable with an injured shoulder.

Analysis: Consider Driver a No. 1 WR but continue to monitor his status for Week 15.

This sucks. Although, despite having a healthy, yet so-so productive, Boldin on my bench, I could be in worse shape.

Man, I love Driver's matchup.

Thanks for the good news Cowtippers. With the fantasy playoffs in full swing, many of us are counting on Driver vs. the Lions in a big way. Despite Dre's excellent D....you can count on Favre to force the ball to Driver all day.
