Gruden wants one.http://www.bradenton.com/mld/bradenton/sports/16363960.htm

While worded poorly in article above,(they're not FA) I could see these guys being available too

Potential free agents include Jake Plummer, Drew Bledsoe, Daunte Culpepper, Jeff Garcia, Byron Leftwich and David Carr.

Also Gruden seems to like Rattay

Chris Simms and Bryan Thomas have signed contract extensions already.

D.J. Hackett, RFA, Seattle Seahawks - interesting to see what level the Hawks tender him at. He out playing most of the other WRs on the team.

Not much to pick from...

Unless the Rams decide to part company with Bruce and go with Kevin Curtis, Curtis could be a nice little scoop for a team in need.

Bolded some players I'll be keeping an eye on

I think Mike Furrey is the only 1,000 yard free agent receiver and he is not on your list either - worth watching also.

Not that much offensive talent out there this year, but a TON of defensive talent.

IMO, especially with the Jets making the playoffs, they'd be absolutely crazy not to pony up for Michael Turner. I think he could truly be the heir apparent to Curtis Martin.

From the Eagles, Donte Stallworth will be an UFA and I'm almost certain that Jeff Garcia and LJ Smith will be as well.

Resigning Stallworth is a must. The word in Philly is that they may already have an agreement in place with Stallworth but he won't be signed until after the start of FA. According to the terms of the trade with NO, if Stallworth is resigned before the start of FA, the Eagles would owe NO a 3rd. If he's resigned after the start of FA or not resigned at all, the Eagles owe NO a 4th. Thus their desire to finalize a deal with Stallworth after the start of FA.

Personally I would let LJ Smith go and make a strong play for Daniel Graham at TE. While he doesn't bring the big play ability that Smith has, he's more consistent and a better blocker which would fit well in their increased attention to running the ball.

I think he's RFAKitna was clamorring for them to give him a good amount before they cleaned out their lockers. They didn't and Kitna was miffed.

Agreed, lots of D talent. The Michael Turner issue is all about compensation. He's an RFA, and I would be shocked if he was not tendered at a 1st and 3rd. Much as Turner looks great, if I were the Jets, I wouldn't be willing to trade a 1st rounder for him. I'm much more interested in seeing the Jets bring in someone to play DE instead of Von Oelhoffen.

IMHO, of the FAs mentioned above, the following FAs will actually be in demand:

Quarterback

Damon Huard, UFA, Kansas City Chiefs

His performance this year will make some team decide that he could compete for the starting job

Tim Rattay, UFA, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Some team will take a look at him as a backup/starter in a West Coast system

Matt Schaub, RFA, Atlanta Falcons

Will be in demand, but the tender will decide if the price in draft picks will be too much

Running Back

Chris Brown, UFA, Tennessee Titans

He will get some looks. Wanted starter money, but his season will dictate that the most he can hope for is a shot at a starting job. I think he is insurance.

Correll Buckhalter, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles

He will get some looks. His injury history will limit his market value. Probably stays in Philly.

Najeh Davenport, UFA, Pittsburgh Steelers

He gets some looks

T.J. Duckett, UFA, Washington Redskins

He didn't do much for the Redskins or the Falcons, but a team looking for a big back as a compliment will give him some money. Not much, but some.

Ahman Green, UFA, Green Bay Packers

I think his age and his past injury problems make him a risk. A team will take a chance on him as a compliment. If Favre stays, I think Green stays.

Michael Turner, RFA, San Diego Chargers

Like Schaub, the interest will be there, but the tender may make the cost in draft picks too much for a team to pay him lamont Jordan money.

Wide Receiver

Drew Bennett, UFA, Tennessee Titans

Someone will want him to be their #2. And they'll pay him to be it.

Kevin Curtis, UFA, St. Louis Rams

Someone will want him to be their #2. And they'll pay him to be it.

Mike Furrey, RFA, Detroit Lions

A great year for him and at the right time. A team will look to him to be their #1. He'll get good money, but I don't think he's a #1 WR.

D.J. Hackett, RFA, Seattle Seahawks

He has been getting a lot of looks from Hasselbeck lately. Teams will move to make him a #2.

Donte Stallworth, UFA, Philadelphia Eagles

I think he stays in Philly. Has the talent, but an injury history. Teams will be reluctant to give him a lot of up front money.

Ernest Wilford, RFA, Jacksonville Jaguars

His size will warrant some attention on the open market.

Tight End

Tony Gonzalez, UFA, Kansas City Chiefs

Will want big $$$ and will probably get it. I think it will be too much to give for a talented TE who may be past his prime.

Daniel Graham, UFA, New England Patriots

Teams will be interested in Graham.

Eric Johnson, UFA, San Francisco 49ers

Ditto for EJ, but his injury history may slow the market for him.

Jerramy Stevens, UFA, Seattle Seahawks

Very talented TE. From Washington area, so may stay. Underachiever IMO , but the NFL see things as potential; and, he has it.

Offensive Line

Eric Steinbach, UFA, Bengals

He will be one of the most sought after free agents.

Leonard Davis UFA Arizona Cardinals

Has potential. Has underachieved. He won't get big OLT money, but he should get good coin. A team can try him at OG or OLT.

Sean Locklear, RFA, Seattle Seahawks

Seattle will tender him, so he'll stay put.

Roman Oben, UFA, San Diego Chargers

Played well in SD before his injuries. A team needing a LT will try him as a stop gap.

Max Starks RFA Pittsburgh Steelers

Steelers will tender him, so he'll stay put.

Floyd Womack, UFA, Seattle Seahawks

Somebody will pay him good money as a backup. He can play OG and OT.

Defensive End

Allen, Jared, KC - RFA

KC will tender so he'll stay.

Freeney, Dwight, IND - UFA

If Indy can tag him, they will.

McCray, Bobby, JAX - RFA

Jags will tender him, making the price to get him too much to pay.

Pryce, Trevor, BAL - UFA

Prior back history will scare some off, but he'll find a job.

Linebacker

Lance Briggs, UFA, Chicago Bears

Will be 2nd most sought after FA

London Fletcher UFA Buffalo Bills

Bills may decide they need a bigger LB. Had a great year and teams will be knocking on his door.

Cato June, UFA, Indianapolis Colts

Not sure Indy will have enough $$$ to keep the players on the Defensive side of the ball. June will have suitors.

Adalius Thomas, UFA, Baltimore Ravens

Great season. Will be one of the most sought after FAs.

Rob Morris, UFA, Indianapolis Colts

Doubt Colts can pay to keep him, so like most Colt LBs he will go the FA route.

Donnie Edwards, San Diego Chargers

His contract expires. He is getting a little long in the tooth, but he has played well.

Cornerback

Nate Clements, UFA, Buffalo Bills

IMO he will get the most $$$ this offseason. He will be the most sought after since CBs usually are - nexxt to QB; but the money he demands will limit the real players for his services.

Asante Samuel UFA New England Patriots

Teams looking for a cheaper alternative to Clements will lock onto Samuel.

IMO he will get the most $$$ this offseason. He will be the most sought after since CBs usually are - nexxt to QB
That's a year to year thing. The value of CB via franchise tag(avg of top 5) has really fluctuated.

Could be wrong but I read somewhere that Stallworth was the only starter the Eagles don't have signed through next year. :goodposting: fridayfrenzy.Cato June, welcome to the eagles. :D

Of course, there are always a few surprise cuts to add to this list. Any rumors floating around of the potential players to be shown the door?

KGB was signed to a seven-year contract by Green Bay on April 3, 2003.

He'll be in GB for awhile. (Unless he gets cut, which is possible)

WR Drew Carter and Green Bay DT Cullen Jenkins are restricted free agents. Jenkins is the brother of CAR DT Kris Jenkins and is on the verge of becoming a force.

Yep, was going to post the same thing.6.5 Mil next year. #2 or 3 on the Packers in salary. Wonder what the cap hit will be to let him go.Give this money to Al Harris and Cullen Jenkins imo.

good idea to start this thread, but it doesn't make much sense unless it's a comprehensive listing. which apparently, this isn't.

Then feel free to add/remove names.Even if not complete, it seems to cover the more significant names (and then some), which is probably good enough for our purposes here.

i consider RBs like musa smith and dominic rhodes to be two of the more significant names (if only b/c they're RBs), yet they appear nowhere. which is kinda my point.

I didn't realize they were missing - definitely are worth noting.

Thats what its working towards, and thanks for your help with that. :lmao:

Kevin Curtis signed with Condon. He didn't have an agent in 06. I imagine that's to get him to be a starter somewhere.

I would like to see the Vikings try and sign him. He would be good in a West Coast offense - catch and run. Couple this with the drafting of a WR and maybe they won't be that bad (hoping)!

So rather than contribute, you'd just like to make snide remarks and make your 'point'.Got it.

Not sure what the franchise tag value has to do with anything. CBs are one of the top paid positions in the league and Clements believes that he's a top 5 CB. My guess is that he is going to want a deal that will average about an $8M cap number per year.

I thought I heard the guys on the morning show on SportsTalk 950 yesterday say that the Eagles didn't have a nearly as much money this offseason as they have had in years past. That could affect their FA signings. It will be interesting to see if they want to keep Garcia around as well. If Garcia plays well in the playoffs and the Eagles win a few games, I think Garcia could command more than what the Eagles will want to pay. So then they'd be back to a bunch of scrubs behind the oft-injured McNabb.

Just my opinion but I think the most sought after UFA by offensive skill position will be QB Damon Huard, RB Chris Brown, WR Kevin Curtis, TE Daniel Graham. If their teams don't lock them up I feel they have the best chance at landing a big contract from their position.

The UFA QB position looks weak. There may be better prospects if others get cut.

I'd love to see the Jets go after Graham. Mangini could dig again at Belichick, not to mention that Graham is a good receiving option and a great blocker. As for Brown, I agree that he could stand to benefit from a weak UFA RB class, but I don't see him being handed a starting gig. I see most RB-hungry teams using the rookie draft.

I believe Kevin Curtis will be the most sought after UFA & Matt Schaub the most popular RFA.

It'll be interesting to see what Curtis can do if he gets out from the shadow of Holt & Bruce. He's underrated, IMO. As far as Schaub, I think ATL will be reluctant to let him go & will match any half-way reasonable offer.

BTW, Kansas City & Minnesoata immediately came to mind when I thought about Curtis' destination. Miami, New England, Oakland, San Diego, Tennessee, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, & Tampa Bay are the other most likely teams to sign him, IMO.

You sure about that? I thought the Saints got the 3rd as long as Philly resigned him. If your terms are correct, the deal seems pretty pointless. Why would the Eagles ever sign him early if it was going to cost them a 3rd round pick? Doesn't make sense to me. Link?

Not sure what the franchise tag value has to do with anything. CBs are one of the top paid positions in the league and Clements believes that he's a top 5 CB. My guess is that he is going to want a deal that will average about an $8M cap number per year.
franchise tag will show ya the value of the top 5 at a specific position.I thought the same as you last year but there was a chart at NFLPA, reposted here. (Example #s) It was like 7 mil, 4 mil, 5 mil, 6 mil, 4 mil or somesuch. It was used in a few articles too, to show the "market" in signing free agents. I'll see if I can find it.
