"I don't want to have no dirt or none of this rubber on this field fly into their eye and make their eye hurt. I just want to tackle them softly on the ground, and if you all can, we'll lay a pillow down where I'm going to tackle them, so they don't hit the ground too hard ... Mr. Goodell."

I wonder what all the steeler fans annoyed by people pointing out all the questionable calls think of harrison and his constant whining.

 
Pulling off three straight double negatives is nice and all, but I would have gone for a triple somewhere.

Show me one example where he was #####ing other than the week after the Browns game. Dude likes to play hard. On a side note, I would love to see Goodell running across the field for some reason and Harrison mistake him for a streaker and knock his ### tge #### out....
 
He was only answering questions that were asked. If you have ever watched his interviews a lot you will notice he has a very dry sense of humor.

I watched the interview on NFL Network, and your 100% correct.He only answered the questions asked and stopped short of elaborating on any questions, it looked like he answered some of those questions 'tongue in cheek', especially the last one where he said he doesn't want to hurt anybody, just tackle them any way he can to get them down, and then he looked away as to say, "I'm not going any further with this answer because you people are trying to get me to say something to get me in trouble"He does have a very dry sense of humor, not sure why his interview (or lack of) would be any news, seemed very boring to me...

Predictable. But I don't see it as complaining at all. Clearly taking a shot at a complete doosh who is ruining the game of football.

If nothing else CH, you are unwaiveringly consistent with your Steeler hate. I mean, you don't even compliment anyone by accident. That takes true, um, talent.

:D How? He's trying to increase player saftey, that's something that players and a large number of posters on this board have been saying for quite some time.

Say what you want about him, he's one hell of player. And I admire him for being so successful despite adversity (people thinking he was too small).

:)No. I generally don't let professional sports bring me down too much when my teams lose. I think that's sort of part of being an adult. You get excited when your teams win; you move onto other things when your teams lose. Sure, it'd be more fun for me if the Pats were playing Sunday, but I plan on getting drunk and having a good time anyway. :)
 
Harrison is a big baby. He gets fined when he cheats and he tries to put that on the commish. He's welcome to play in the CFL. I thought he was retiring this year? Typical entitled athlete. Except he's a cheap shot artist, which most aren't. He's just hedging for the inevitable cheap shot he throws on Rodgers in the Super Bowl.

Harrison plays hard and is held probably 50% or more every time he rushes the passer. I wouldn't be pointing the fingers at Harrison when your boy Clay Matthews has also been fined multiple times this season as well. As far as blaming the commissioner goes, Goodell's NFL has had a hard time defining the rules to the point where officials, coaches, players and fans are never sure what a ruling will be until the next play is snapped. It used to be that an average fan could look at a play and tell you if a pass was completed, a hit was legal, or whether or not a QB fumbled or had thrown an incomplete pass. Now it seems like obvious plays like a completd TD pass is overruled or a guy gets fined for grazing a QB's helmet or putting too much weight on him as he is being tackled.Goodell has been dolling out fines in an inconsistent manner and set himself up to be jury, judge and executioner with no real appeal process. If you like this NFL I am happy for you but I think football was much better pre-Goodell.

Everyone gets held. Give me a break. Clay isn't out there acting like he's a victim of uneven punishment either.

He is making a point that the fines are dolled out in an inconsistent manner by the commissioner and that the appeal process is a joke. I think he is right about both. If you think the fines have been consistent and the process of appealing to the same person that handed out the initial punishment is good then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I wish more players had the fortitude to keep complaining about Goodell's ridiculous rules and their enforcement.

I googled "Clay Matthews fines" and couldn't find anything. Do you have a link to how many times he's been fined this year? Just curious, not doubting you.I agree with the rest of your post. We no longer can tell what a catch is. Defenders can't touch the QB without getting a yellow flag (unless they play for the Pats). Pass interference calls are arbitrary, and often based on whether or not a defender turns around (even if there is zero contact). Meanwhile, Goodell randomly hands out fines. Not on board with this.

 
The basic premise of Harrison's diatribe is not much different than the notions posed by Hines Ward in his recent GQ interview. Ward is speaking critically of the NFL commissioner's leadership on a number of player safety issues. These issues of Harrison's and Ward's are related.

 
Still trying to figure out how his hit on Fitzpatrick was a fine or penalty. Forget which one it was

 
I don't have a problem with Harrison's comments - what bugged me was the reporters howling with fake laughter after he was finished. Could sportswriters please try to kiss the asses of the guys they cover a little less?

 
I think Goodell would be smart to find a way for the players association to lead the levying of fines for on-field hits. They should be protecting their players. Then he wouldn't always look like the bad guy.

What's the over/under on quarters it takes Harrison to draw a flag on a HtH hit?

And if he spears Rodgers, does he get ejected?

If he does I beleive it would be the first game ejection for a HtH hit. The only ejections that I can recall this season was for fighting and/or throwing punches. Does anyone else remember a player being ejected for a non-fighting penalty this season?
