Anyone benching Torry Holt? (1 Viewer)

I hate to bench him, but I think it is a good play. Bulger is banged up and lets face it the Bears D is tight!

that is exactly what I am doing only because MJD is facing the horrible colts run defense. I am still having a hard time pulling the trigger because Holt plays on Monday night. Big game Torry Holt seems to show up when the spotlight is on him!

Yes, I am considering it. My opponent this week is also considering benching Bulgar.

My replacement would be Tatum vs San Diego

Don't do it. Holt is a stud. While the Bears D is tough, they will be keyed to stopping SJax.

Holt should have a nice day. Not a great day, but a nice day.

I am not worried about Holts ability to get open. I am worried about Bulgers ability to stay upright and in the game. I think Stl will pound away with Jackson because the bears can be run on by the right back. Even so I don't think that will open up the passing game. I see a lot run blitzing.

No way am I benching Holt in the first round of the playoffs. The passing game's recent struggles do worry me, but if the Rams can get a decent run game going (and the game remains fairly close) then Holt could put up some decent stats.

I'd kick myself if Holt caught a touchdown or two on my bench in the playoffs.

IM 50/50 on Bulger right now. considering letting him ride the pine. Something tells me that Bulger/Holt/Bruce put up some 4th qtr. garbage pts. Seems like they do every week.

As both a Bulger and Holt owner I'm not excited about this week, but due to lack of other options (Carr at QB) I'm probably going to play both of them. Good news is they're at home on the turf and it's Monday night. Bad news is Bulger's playing with sore ribs and this may account for why he's missing Holt on some deeper routes (based on what I've read in the game threads-haven't had the chance to see them play a whole lot). Also a few big hits and Bulger could be out of the game.

While I have the option to plug caldwell in instead of holt (or Coles), I agree that having Holt on my bench is unwise.

His matchup next week vs Oak worries me more than this week.
:goodposting: My thoughts exactly. CHI DEF vs. Rec Types:WR1 = ranked 24WR2 = ranked 2WR3 = ranked 2TE = ranked 2I am not expecting a huge game from Holt, but the 'looks' are still there, and based on last weeks #'s I am looking for 5/80 1TD from Holt. At this point, I'll take it.OAK DEF vs. Rec Types:WR1 = ranked 4WR2 = ranked 27

I am more concerned about SJax than Holt. While SJax might be the right type of back to be somewhat successful against the Bears, the question is will the o-line be able to hold up? I would be curious to hear thoughts about benching SJax for the first week of the playoffs. He was most likely a top 5 pick, but do you play the better matchup this week (examples such as JLewis @KC, CTaylor @DET, Dillon @MIA, Westbrook @WAS, AGreen @SF)? Not a WDIS, I don't own all of these other RB.

I was on the fence back when Arizona played Chicago. Boldin came up BIG. Bears are good but so is Holt, even after some sub-par weeks.

Where is this from? There are a few other aspects of this I want to check out.

:goodposting: Good point! From what I've seen, WR1's have fared pretty well against Chicago. Driver, DJax, Boldin. Even Coles hauled in a respectable 80 yards in a shutout. Considering my next best option is Bryant, gotta roll with him this week.

100 and TD is probably the most you can expect, but you don't bench Holt, especially when the Rams will probably be down for most of the game...

I figure Bulger to have a rough game and when they are down late, they'll have to throw to Holt. So I think that works out to an average day for Holt overall.

I'm going to have to play him in my playoffs game. I traded away good WR depth for a RB #2 upgrade and it appears as though I may now be without Colston too. Holt vs anybody is more appealing possibility than Chambers, even though it's quite possible it doesn't turn out that way.

What it comes down to is I can't allow myself to be the fool that sat Holt and lost in the playoffs. If I lose with him, at least it doesn't loook like I lost because I'm an idiot. And don't forget the general playoffs rule of playing who got you there. Holt was on fire in the earlier part of the season.

The bears are all about pass rush and midfield coverage. Their corners are still very good and their run d is very good but teams are running on them up the middle and passing to the outs.

If Bulger can get time he can throw out and Jax up the middle.

At least he's better than Grossman...

Holt should do something. 5 for 75 and a TD...

edited to say - from Frerotte...

This stuff always happens during FF playoffs time. I'm considering benching Holt in favor of Antonio Bryant vs. the pass-D weak Packers. Bryant could go off. Sigh. I have no idea what I'll do. I'd sure hate to have Holt turn in another 40 yard, no-TD performance, which is what he's been doing quite a lot during the second half of the season.

no. why? garbage time=primetime in fantasy land.
garbage time is great for FF if you are on the right end of it. Back in Culpepper's Minny days, he use to get alot of garbage time FF Pts

Not only am I starting Holt, but I'm starting him and Benson and the Bears defense! No reason that all of them can't do well. If I read this game correctly, the Bears will run the ball down the Rams' throat, get a big lead, and Jones and Benson will see HUGE running lanes all night. On the other side of the ball, Bulger will be in "throw it every down" mode from the 2nd quarter on. This will lead to plenty of sacks and turnovers by my Chicago defense, but Holt will also catch his share of balls. Everyone's happy. :)

Bottom line... if you sit Holt and it costs you a playoff game, you deserve to lose.

Accdg. to FBG std scoring only 4 WRs have scored more than 10 pts against CHI this season (Boldin, Evans, Bryant, Chambers).

I have Driver and DJax too so they get the start.

You should also note though that they haven't really played many big time WRs through 13 weeks.Of the top 15 WRs Chicago has played....D. JacksonD. DriverR. WilliamsA. Boldin

So, only 1 of the 4 you listed topped 10 pts, and that (Boldin) was a little fluky.

Lee Evans is ranked at #16, and he topped 10 pts.Top 10 Offenses the Bears have played....New England = LOSS with 267 passing yards againstThe Rams are a Top 10 offense.

I didn't draft Torry Holt to sit him during the playoffs. He had a great week last week. I'm starting him AND I'LL SEE YOU IN HELL!!!

I have Smith, Holt and Boldin.I am going with Smith/Boldin this week.
What a WR corp. I must ask, are you playing against 5 yr olds? :)As for benching holt... I don't think it's a good idea... The game is monday night and in the dome. Not many people have better options than holt, including me.

Right now I have Holt on the bench with Andre Johnson and T.O. in the lineup instead. If I didn't have other options like these I'd probably be starting him. With Pace gone Bulger is taking a beating in the pass rush except for the AZ game since they weren't as capable of producing one. Chicago won't have such a problem.

Nope, just a good squad and I barely made the playoffs with Palmer/LT/Rudi and these wrs... :loco:

 Ok first of all, how did you get this team? LT and Rudi are both 1st round picks, Holt and Smith are both 2nd round picks and Palmer and Boldin are probably both 3rd round picks? Did you have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds? 2nd, how the hell did you "barely" make the playoffs with that team? No offense but a monkey would be able to manage that team to a championship pretty easily.....

All sorts of variables can play into it...1) It can be a dynasty league, like my main league is, and he could have drafted/traded for each of them over the years2) A team may look great on paper, but you never know until they play. Last season I had McNabb, Portis, LT, Owens, C Johnson, R Moss, and Holt, and a pretty deep bench. This particular league is a dynasty league, so I traded/drafted each over the last 9 years that this league has been going. When all was said and done last year, due to injuries, conduct-unbecoming, etc. I was like 5-7 and facing elimination. I made some drastic trades and was able to eek my way into the playoffs at 7-7 (and got bounced in the second round).3) Along with #2, your opponents have their players too. Some bad luck could come into play where you just face the wrong team on the wrong week, and lose games, despite throwing tons of points up. One owner in a league I'm in, has the second most points scored, yet just lost again and will finish the season at 4-10. Who really knows?

I gave up the most points in the league.....tell you the truth, it's hard to manage a team full of studs....because the decisions are hard every week who to play.....sometimes the match-ups are enticing (over playing the best player instead)

I benched him, and that combined with playing Kitna over Favre (due to the weather! ugh!!) cost me the playoff win...

Start 3 WR's...Wayne, Fitz, Walker, and Holt. I could've played Holt at the flex, but started Thomas Jones instead (who did well).

What really sucks is I benched Holt for Walker about 10 min's before the Denver game because I thought Walker had a better shot to have a huge game (expecting him to get several deep balls playing from behind) after my team got off to a horrible start. Always start your studs, but sometimes having too many studs is a bad thing I guess... :wall:

Exactly. It's akeeper league I am in and built the team a few years ago by trading vets and 1st round picks..For example I got LT this past off-season for Portis/McGahee and a 1st round pick....

I was just messing with you. I kind of figured it had to be a keeper league and I agree with you that sometimes it's more difficult to manage a team full of studs than a team full of duds.
