Well, I'm going back and forth between these two guys. They appear to be somewhat similar players. Both are a little smallish for feature back material, listed around 5-11 and 200 pounds. Of course, there are a few teams in the NFL that they would probably start for, assuming the vacancies aren't filled by trades or the draft (Buffalo, Green Bay, Houston as a long term deal, Tennessee). Without getting too heavy into where they might end up, which would heavily influence answers to the above questions, who do you think will be better?

In typical FBG fashion, give us your logic.

It is almost impossible to answer this question before seeing where these two players end up. Their talent level is pretty similar IMO, and their value will depend on their situations. That being said, if I had to pick one, right now, it would be Pittman.

This poll is a lot more lopsided than I would have thought. Evidently everyone listened to the podcast with Russ Lande gushing over Pittman, saying he was the #2 back in the draft behind Peterson BUT IN FRONT OF Marshawn Lynch.

I think the two are fairly similar. Pittman appears to have a little more power and Irons a bit more speed. Did I miss some numbers from the Combine? Did Pittman have comparable 40 times to Irons?

I like Irons quite a bit more than Pittman. Pittman is a better receiver, but Irons is a better runner.

Of course their team and situation will dictate a lot but Pittman is more talented than Irons and under similar circumstances would be the better back IMO. Better combonation of speed, power and moves at the line. Not sure about receiving ability as to which one will be better.

Personally, I prefer Kenny Irons.

Don't ask me exactly why right now, I just think he has "it" whatever "it" is. He reminds me of a running back that used to start for the Saints years ago. I forget the players name, maybe Hilliard? Just can't wrap my mind around it.........oh well. I think he is a little small to carry the load for anyone team, but I do think he could take the majority of reps in a committee situation. Not sure on his blocking, just haven't seen enough.

I think Pittman would do better in a Pittsburg - rush first type offense. In alot of ways he reminds me of a smaller Cedric Benson the way he runs, honestly. I would like to see more shiftyness from him personally. Either that or more bulk. But he could be a nice 2nd or 3rd option in a RB rotation. I have no idea how well he blocks either.

Good Poll though.

ETA I haven't seen much from Pittman out of the backfield either. How many catches did he have last year?
