Rudi's hammy (1 Viewer)

according to rotoworld:

Rudi Johnson's hamstring injury reportedly "flared up," which caused him to sit out Wednesday's practice.

There have been no other reports on the injury. If Rudi feels better Thursday, it figures that he'll return to practice. Hopefully Bengals coach Marvin Lewis will have an update later in the week, but for now this is a concern.

I picked up Kenny Watson just in case. He could come up big against CLE in rough weather. We'll see how this plays out...

Even if you have Watson or not, you have to hope that the report comes out that Rudi is a full GO or NOT in time. Though Watson looks to be the better play even if Rudi is part timer...Watson FT would be much better for any owner that has the handcuff.

Benching them both in a meaningless game for me this weekend.

I'm done messing with this BS. Rudi ruined my FF season!

I dropped Mike Furrey for Kenny Watson today. I wasn't gonna start Furrey anyway, and I might just be crazy enough to start Watson over Addai if Watson gets the full load.

If the weather gets dicey in a number of cities, and if Rudi is ruled out due to his hammie, Watson might be an excellent play here (particularly if you get PPR).

Rudi tried really hard to ruin my semi-final, and I won't be giving him another chance this season. I will be starting either Watson or Kevin Jones over him.

Rudi didn't practice again on Thursday. No way should he be started in any league this week in my opinion. Ignore the matchup and find another RB and bump Kenny Watson way up. He could be huge this week.

Running back Rudi Johnson (hamstring) didn't work for the second straight day.

just got this email bulletin from draftsharks;

Draft Sharks / MVP Weekly Report

BREAKING NEWS

December 20, 2007

--------------------

** We just talked to Shannon Russell at the Cincy Enquirer about Bengals RB Rudi Johnson. Russell confirmed that Johnson is having problems again and he didn't practice Thursday. "His hamstring still seems to be bugging him," Russell said. "He didn't practice yesterday [either]." Here we go again. We're taking Johnson off the Weekly Updated List and adding Kenny Watson, who already had 12 touches (for 53 yards) last week. If Johnson is limited or out, Watson could jump back into 20-touch mode like he was earlier in the season. DeDe Dorsey will mix in as well.

I've said this in other threads, but Watson should be the #1 RB on everyone's rankings this week in PPR leagues. No way anyone starting him this week can lose. Guaranteed.

Seriously....quit with this no way this no way that and guarantees...your predictions are making me lose all confidence in some of my players.I guess you figure if you throw enough of these out there that you might get one right....just stop.

#1 in PPR leagues this week ? Not sure I'd go quite that far, but if Rudi looks like he won't play, I'm likely pulling Jacobs for Watson.

Rudi not at practice, unlikely to play

The official injury report will not be available until later this afternoon, but starting tailback Rudi Johnson was not at practice on the game field at Paul Brown Stadium this morning.

Asked after practice, at about 12:45, whether Johnson would play against Cleveland, Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said, "Probably not. He hasn't been able to practice, so he can't play."

Asked then it Kenny Watson would get the start, Lewis said, "We'll see." ...

"We'll see"?

I don't like that....I was all ready with visions of his 130 yard 3 TD performance against the Jets dancing in my head...but I hate that quote.

Might be something to the whole thing about trying to get Dorsey some work. Might have to stick with Portis even with a matchup just because I know he will get carries.

:goodposting: I would like to see your rational behind Watson this week. I think I am going to start him aover Dayne for what it's worth.

I have Kevin Jones penciled in due to his strong matchup against KC, but I'm having second thoughts now that it looks like Rudi will be out and Watson will see the bulk of the work.

Have the same 2...plus Kolby and Portis.Portis is close to the pine now.

should watson owners be worried about Dede? i don't watch bengals games but Dede went off a couple weeks ago. looks like he didn't play much last week though ...

Rudi Johnson (hamstring) did not practice on Friday and has been ruled out for the Bengals' Week 16 game against Cleveland.

"He hasn't been able to practice, so he can't play," coach Marvin Lewis said. Lewis didn't name a starter, but the job will likely go to Kenny Watson, who's averaged 4.4 yards per carry this year to Johnson's 2.9. DeDe Dorsey will also see action off the bench. The Bengals' offense shouldn't experience a drop off with Rudi out. Look for a pass-heavy attack against the Browns.

Bengals | R. Johnson OUT Week 16

Fri, 21 Dec 2007 10:51:02 -0800

Mark Curnutte, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals RB Rudi Johnson (hamstring) did not practice Friday, Dec. 21, and is out for Week 16.

I am very much interested in any homer insight into this question.Marv declared Rudi out and said "we'll see" when asked if Watson would start. Is DeDe a serious threat to touches? (source is Rotoworld)

Willie - Last Home Game?

Willie: Last home game?

By GEOFF HOBSON

December 20, 2007

Updated: 12-21-07, 4 p.m.

Willie Anderson says he'll play in his 180th game Sunday against the Browns and he says he's heard enough lately and seen enough in his 12 seasons to think it could be his last home game as a Bengal.

And he's calling it "Senior Day," along with some of his other teammates that wonder if they'll be back next season.

"This could be all of our last home games," said head coach Marvin Lewis, who offered earlier in the week that the Bengals alumni list could grow in the offseason. "I'm not going to worry about that. None of us are promised tomorrow."

With three years left on his contract, it's assumed Lewis is going to be back. But Anderson, who can become the seventh player to appear in at least 180 games as a Bengal, is viewing his situation like the Fatburger franchises he owns.

"I look at it as a business," said Anderson before Friday's practice. "I tell my family, 'Don't look over and say that will never happen.' It happens."

Lewis would only say Anderson has a chance to play and listed him as questionable.

Anderson, who has four years left on his contract after next Sunday's finale in Miami, thinks it could happen because of the concern surrounding his knee. Concern he is trying to alleviate, in part, by playing. He has been saying he could have played against Pittsburgh Dec. 2 and he believes he can play at least three more years.

The season started uncertainly for the Bengals Pro Bowl tackles but they hope to have a more definitive finish in the last two games.

Anderson practiced for the third straight day Friday in an effort to show the club he's healthy enough to play next season with his healed knee in case it started to believe rumors that he's finished. And he said before practice he'll play.

Left tackle Levi Jones, who openly wondered if the Bengals were getting ready to trade him when he had trouble getting back into the starting lineup at the beginning of the year with his rehabbing knee, is hoping to finish healthy after a gritty season he virtually played on one leg.

Anderson is hoping to show the club in the last two games that the bone bruise and sprained medial collateral ligament that cost him the past eight games and his fifth straight Pro Bowl is healed and has nothing to do with his age, which is 32 in July.

"I definitely want to finish with two wins," Anderson said. "And at the same time I want to show them, or whoever wants to know that I can play football. I don't want that rumor put on me by whomever to whomever that I couldn't finish out the season. It's not an age thing. It was a contact injury."

Anderson is waiting to get word from the club on his playing status, but he indicated that he got a good deal of work in Thursday's practice and didn't just have a cursory workout.

After being named a Pro Bowl third alternate this week despite the limitations with his knee, Jones was far from pleased.

"It's what is to be expected," said a disappointed Jones. "With the kind of start I had and all the drama around the injury, I couldn't expect too much more. It's not good enough for me."

Jones has started the last 11 games after he had words with Lewis about his health. Following a mid-game benching against Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen, Jones has been solid and is a big reason the Bengals are tied for second with Cleveland for allowing the fewest sacks in the league with 17.

Jones, coming off two procedures last season, is hopeful an offseason stint with his trainers back home in Arizona will be just what the knee needs.

"Then we can get it corrected and I plan to come back faster and stronger wherever I come back to," he said.

All indications are he'll be back in Cincinnati since Anderson's status seems up in the air at the moment and Anderson's backup, Stacy Andrews is unsigned.

INJURY UPDATE: Running back Rudi Johnson (hamstring) didn't work for the third straight day Friday and has been ruled out, making it the fourth game he's missed with hamstring problems and first since Oct. 28. Lewis wouldn't announce Kenny Watson as the starter.

Both of the Bengals starting safeties appeared on the injury report Thursday and didn't practice Friday with Madieu Williams (quad) doubtful and Dexter Jackson (calf) questionable. Cornerback Deltha O'Neal was sick and sat out Thursday before going full Friday and is probable. Wide receiver Chris Henry (ankle), who missed Wednesday's practice, went full go Thursday and Friday and is probable.

For the Browns, starting cornerback Leigh Bodden (back) was a new addition to the injury list and was listed as did not go. The three defensive linemen, Robaire Smith (back), Shaun Smith (back) and Orpheus Roye (knee), were all limited, as was linebacker Antwan Peek (ankle). On Friday, Peek was limited and listed as questionable. Also Friday, Shaun Smith went full go and was listed as probable. Roye and Robaire Smith were, too, after they went limited. Left guard Eric Steinbach was excused for personal reasons and is probable.
Looks like Willie Anderson may play. I'd think that this would bolster the Bengals' run game as well.

Mr. consistency Rudi Johnson almost ruined my season this year, that was until I picked up a FA back by the name of Ernie Graham. Man I thought I was a lock this year for 1200-1500 and 12-15 tds out of him. Well he is on the bench but will still get a ring when I win this week......

Seems to me that the 'Bungals' have taken a step back each of the last 5 or 6 weeks. Palmer just got me bounced in a round 2 game and in my other league Housh tried to f me but Witten picked up his slack... If anything DeDe will probably see some significanf playing time so, Steer Clear! :blackdot:

I would not let my season ride on Watson this week. There is a VERY good chance a majority of the 1st and 2nd down work goes to Dorsey. The Bengals need to see what he can do in those situations. They have too many 3rd down backs - Watson, Perry, and Irons. If Dorsey can't handle 20 + carries they may have to go free agent or draft a RB early.

Rudi is probably done in Cincy.

Sad but true.

Starting Watson over MBIII with the league championship on the line... :pickle:
Going against Watson and starting MBIII   If you are starting Watson for your championship, you might want to rethink that logic if you had Barber on your bench. I could see if you have Rudi as your only alternative.

If Watson gets 75% of the workload + gl carries he will be a stud this week. FBGs now has Watson ranked in the top 10 RBs this week, so they obviously believe Watson will get the majority of the work. I have to decide between Watson, MJD, and Kolby Smith in a PPR league and I'm leaning towards Watson. It might make sense for a lot of owners to plug in Watson in PPR leagues this week BUT those owners also might get burnt if Dede gets most of the work...Anybody else with any opinions on how the running game will shake out in Cincy this week?

Rudi and Watson owner here. They've been so unpredictable the last few weeks, I don't know what to expect.I like Watson this week, but am just not sure about Dorsey's role. Because of this, I'm going with Kolby Smith instead against Detroit.

Nice guarantee...I started him...still lost. Oh...and Watson was 5th this week in points. And if I would have taken your advice on Jennings...I would have scored less.Take your guarnatees and shove em (though, this was the closest you got to a real hit).
