Leinart discussion thread (1 Viewer)

Can somebody point me to the threads where I was mocked for stating Leinart will be a factor in this league before all is said and done...

VINDICATION

...just sayin.
Maybe he finally decided to get serious about football. The ones that dedicate their off season to improving their football skills usually are the ones to make a step improvement. It happens. Hope so for the Cardinals.

In all seriousness...it looks like the game has slowed down for him. He'll be a starter, just a matter of when.

In every draft he should be taken as a last round flier, whether you have Warner or not. He has top-10 upside in the event of a Warner injury. I'd much rather have a lottery ticket like Leinart than take some mediocre 3rd QB like Collins or some low upside equally unproven guy like Quinn.

If you are a Fitz/Boldin owner or are looking to draft one of them, I wouldn't be worried about Warner staying healthy at all. In my opinion Arizona may have the best backup QB in the NFL right now.

Maybe that whole BS about having to fight off St. Pierre was just what Leinart needed.

... and for how long.

And at this point if he does start it will have nothing to do with which conference/school he attended. Which is your point in this matter.

Yeah it was a half, but he also threw the ball 38 times. Pretty sure he wouldn't throw the ball 76 times a game if he was the starter.

so would the shark move be to take him as your backup if say you got Brady/Brees as your starter...at the end of the draft?

Did he do this vs the 3rd string?

I think he has a good chance of passing St. Pierre on the depth chart now though.

I missed Leinart tearing up the Packers 3rd string. I couldn't stop laughing from the Packers shredding the Cards first string for 38 points.... in ONE HALF. D. Rodgers-Cromartie still can't cover anyone.

I wouldn't draft him as a primary backup, but in a deep league, I'd snag him as a QB3 very late. He'd have top-10 potential if Warner got hurt, which at 38 and that hip, is a realistic possibility.

Not that a preseason game means that much, but I've always had a hard time believing that Leinart can't be a good NFL QB.

I think LHUCKS will be vindicated at some point. He's stood strong no matter how bad it looked. He might just be a PAC-10 homer, but that doesn't make him wrong.

Of course he'll be vindicated since the definition of "factor" is so large. Leinart can come in this year and throw 4 TDs and 22 INTs and that makes him a factor.

Watching a replay of last night's game right now. It's the 3rd quarter, and it appears that Green Bay is playing mostly 3rd-string defenders. I would hope that Leinart could move the ball against a bunch of guys who are probably going to be cut in a few days.

His stats from that half project out to 11,520 yds, 96 TDs, and 32 INTs over a 16 game season.

Being a bit more conservative if Leinart were to start the entire year I think we can now safely project 8000 yds and 75 TDs. Better move Fitz and Boldin up in those rankings.

As an owner of both Larry Fitz and Randy Moss in two different leagues... I gotta say... I feel MUCH better about Fitz's fantasy prospects should Warner go down to injury then I do about Moss without Brady throwing him the ball.

I agree. LHUCKS has this one right. I still disagree with him on Addai, MJD and most other matters - but I believe Lienart will make good.

It tends to do so when GB has their 2nd and 3rd and 4th string on the field and was up 38-10 at half.

Well...at some point...sure.The guy has a ton of talent. IMO if he ever puts in all of the work needed (not sure how much he really did this offseason) and dedicates himself more to it...He can be good. he has the skills...but does he have the mental makeup to truely be an impactful NFL QB.

Hey if you keep saying every year that player X will be good, eventually you might be right.

To be fair its not like he was throwing to Fitz and Boldin or even Breaston against those Packer backups. He was throwing to guys like Morey and Long who are special teams players at best.

Matt Leinart is getting lose so he can caddy Kurt Warner's water bottle up and down the sidelines.. good for him :)

Its game 4. He's probably going against second team guys at best but more likely fringe players just trying to make a roster spot.

Right... but when your only 2 reasons for endlessly supporting Leinart are A)he went to USC and B)he plays for Arizona, should you really get credit for being right? It's more a lucky coincidence than an accurate assessment of talent.
