Buccaneers | Stovall seeing action at TE

Published Sun Jul 30 7:33:00 p.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) Jim Flynn, of the PewterReport.com, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are experimenting with rookie WR Maurice Stovall at tight end. Stovall has spent a few minutes of every practice working with Bucs senior assistant/offensive line Aaron Kromer on blocking technique. Although he hasn't lined up as a tight end during any team drills, Stovall could be a player that sees some action at that position before training camp is over. Playing tight end might be Stovall's only chance of playing on offense at all during his rookie season because the Buccaneers are loaded at the wide receiver spot. Stovall said he is open to the possibility of playing tight end just as long as he is put in position help the Bucs win games.

Nothing newsworthy here.

Every TC Gruden does something crazy.

The year before he had Ronde taking snaps at RB.

Probably just for a couple gadget plays this year....

This could be a good gadget, though - line up on third and short in the moronic spread formation to draw a dime defense, then bring in your WR to block on the line for a run.

Buccaneers | Stovall struggling

(KFFL) Rick Stroud and Stephen F. Holder, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Maurice Stovall is having difficulty with drops during camp thus far.

While Bucs WR Maurice Stovall has worked at TE

(Rotoworld) While Bucs WR Maurice Stovall has worked on some tight end techniques, the team have no immediate plans to play him there.

Impact: It looks like Jon Gruden is looking for position flexibility with Stovall. The rookie probably isn't any higher than fifth on the wideout depth chart. He's struggled with drops in camp.
