The injuries are really starting to add up for Jaguars defense. They've been known as a good D but at some point you have question if they'll be able to keep that distinction. Hayward and Peterson are the obvious players missing as Jacksonville's top pass rusher and tackler. But beyond those two the Jags have lost Pat Thomas LB, Jim Davis DE, Elton Patterson DE, Chris Roberson CB, and Tony Williams DT. None of these guys were starters but they did contribute to depth and as more people go down their loss will become more apparent. Also, Stroud, Wiley, and Sensabaugh among others have missed games and continue to battle injuries.
It may seem odd to question the Jags D after a shut out and in fact back to back home game shut outs, but even with the depth they had in training camp at some point the injuries will likely show in performance. Perhaps the shark move is to sell high after the shut out if you can find a decent deal.

This is another big hit to the front 7. Peterson, Hayward and now a gimpy Stroud, combined with the other players listed above, and one has to seriously wonder about the Jags overall depth on the defensive side of the ball.
A plus to mention is that Jacksonville Head Coach Jack Del Rio works his LB's tails off year round. And in being a former quality NFL LB, Del Rio's ability to recognize and implement talented players at the position that fit his defensive scheme bodes well. Which is obviously why he brought Peterson here in the first place. The addition by subtraction (Colts) factor was an added bonus to that deal.
This is definitely one to keep a close watch on, as
Mike Peterson is one of the most underrated LB's in the NFL.
