Bump GronkI think he might be the new Jermichael Finley.![]()
Really? Gronk is even taller then Gates. Hernandez is 6'1.I think Hernandez is more comparable to Gates.
Gronk is a better Jason Witten.Really? Gronk is even taller then Gates. Hernandez is 6'1.I think Hernandez is more comparable to Gates.
Yep.-Hernandez owner.I'm saying in terms of size, elite QB, and red zone targets, Gronk could have Gates like numbers this season.
Beat me to it, but better is a strong claim to make. Witten's topped 1000 yards 3 of the last 4 seasons and hasn't seen less than 950 yards and 80 catches since 2006. But I agree that Gronk reminds me of Witten. Both good blockers on the line, great route runners, consistent hands.Gronk is a better Jason Witten.Really? Gronk is even taller then Gates. I agree, but to be clear I think very highly of Witten as well. It's just I think Gronk is even more physically gifted, a true freak among freaks.Gronk had more TDs then Witten's best year in his rookie season. Maybe but 90+ catches and 1100 yards is a pretty high ceiling to start with. Gronk's gonna get a lot of TD's but I doubt he equals Witten in catches and yardsGronk had more TDs then Witten's best year in his rookie season. Witten's clearly had the better career, but it's not a stretch to say Gronk is the better option right now, especially talking about fantasy. He had 10 TDs in his rookie year, and has 3 TDs in 2 games so far in 2011.Witten is heading towards a HOF career and you guys are already calling Gronk better?? Simmer down a bit.
would like to know as well. i really didn't mind having hernandez in there. its not like either of their numbers were suffering... just made it even harder for the defense to pick which TE to focus on.what happened to Hernandez?
doubt he can get much betterwith hernandez now hurt, gronk is going to explode

Actually, it might have the exact opposite effect in that offense. And I'm a Gronkowski owner.with hernandez now hurt, gronk is going to explode
I agree, Hernandez allows Gronk to get open and vice versa. If Hernadez misses time defenses will be doubling Gronk.Actually, it might have the exact opposite effect in that offense. And I'm a Gronkowski owner.with hernandez now hurt, gronk is going to explode
You can't prove that!'jackdubl said:I'm just bummed I took Hernandez over this guy. Witten on steroids.
why does everyone think Gronk is such a better option than Hernandez? Doesnt Hernandez have more targets? I'd say they are about equal. You can't prove that!'jackdubl said:I'm just bummed I took Hernandez over this guy. Witten on steroids.

Who are their No. 1 TEs?? Do they play in 4 team leagues?
A bit premature, IMO.Gronk is a better Jason Witten.Really? Gronk is even taller then Gates. Hernandez is 6'1.I think Hernandez is more comparable to Gates.

I'm pretty sure the writer is trying to say he ranks Gronk as the #2 fantasy TE, or the #2 TE in all of fantasy football. He just worded it poorly and it almost reads like he is saying Gronk is a backup.CBS Sportsline:

That's some awesome analysis right there.
Bill is himself a former TE. Another part of the reason I fought so hard for these guys, because if anyone is going to change the way we look at the position it's him.Belichick loves the TE in his offenses. Always has. We can go way back to 1995, when Belichick was with the Browns and was salivating at the thought of drafting Kyle Brady at #10. The Jets took him at #9, and Belichick was so upset he traded down to #30.So any TE getting looks in a Belichick offense is of fantasy interest. The only problem is that Belichick keeps drafting TEs. He might take another one next year and get rid of Gronk.

That's some awesome analysis right there.
CBS is pretty consistent and most reviews announce where they consider a player as a No 2 WR....No 2 QB....low end NO1 receiver...etc.
Examples:
Foster: "but even if he plays in Week 3 against the Saints, then he is nothing more than a No. 3 Fantasy RB or flex option."
Lloyd: " If Lloyd does return in Week 3, the consider him a low-end No. 2 Fantasy WR"
Sanchez "It's still not time to treat Sanchez as a reliable Fantasy QB, but he is certainly worth holding onto as a No. 2 Fantasy option to start with favorable matchups."
Tolbert: "Fantasy owners should view Tolbert as a quality flex option for Week 3 against Kansas City."
etc etc.
These #######s actually view Gronk as a backup TE.![]()
they can double all they want, but teams don't beat brady by running the same defense all game. he might see a little more attention, but that will likely offset by a few more targets. i think his numbers remain unaffected by hernandez injury.I agree, Hernandez allows Gronk to get open and vice versa. Yup. Gronk will put up great numbers regardless, but I don't think the bump goes to the WRs this week. I'm the very first person that says every season is unique like a butterfly, but have a gander at week 16 vs the Bills when Hernandez was out. http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2010122601/2010/REG16/patriots@bills#menu=gamepass&tab=analyzethey can double all they want, but teams don't beat brady by running the same defense all game. he might see a little more attention, but that will likely offset by a few more targets. i think his numbers remain unaffected by hernandez injury.I agree, Hernandez allows Gronk to get open and vice versa. Or a little more of Woodhead in the flats.
I agree... also a Gronk owner. Pretty much made this same argument in the Player Spotlight Thread.Actually, it might have the exact opposite effect in that offense. And I'm a Gronkowski owner.with hernandez now hurt, gronk is going to explode
