From Friday night's broadcast:
“God’s been awfully good to me, allowing me to do the things I love to do. I asked him one more year, at least, and He said, 'OK.' ”
As befits Scully, he made the announcement quite casually, between innings. It's truly remarkable that this man was the Dodgers broadcaster when they won their first world championship in 1955. He covered Don Larsen's perfect game in the World Series, all of Sandy Koufax's games, and the list goes on and on. He is arguably the possessor of the greatest broadcasting voice in American popular culture, sports or otherwise. And he's one of the few public figures on this planet whom everybody seems to love.

They are all terrific, and while its fun to argue who is the best, its sort of silly. What is not silly is how much guys like John Sterling suck compared to the great ones listed above. I bet Vin Scully hates John Sterling.
