Players start to line up for supplemental draft

Posted: June 21st, 2010 | Gil Brandt | Tags: Harvey Unga, Quentin Castille, Vaness Emokpae, Jeremiah Masoli, Joshua Price-Brent, 2010 Supplemental Draft

The NFL supplemental draft will take place on July 15 and three players have already applied for entrance.

BYU RB Harvey Unga (6-foot 3/4, 245 pounds) hopes to get in and will have his pro day on July 8.

Northwestern State running back Quentin Castille (6-1 3/8, 250), a transfer from Nebraska, also has petitioned for the supplemental draft, and ran a 4.8 at his pro day earlier this year.

Vaness Emokpae, from Truman State, a WR/TE/FB also hopes to make himself eligible.

Two more players — Oregon QB Jeremiah Masoli and Illinois DT Joshua Price-Brent have not yet formally filed, but are expected to do so soon.

Anyone have any insight into this guy, beyond that he's not an ideal Goodell type of player?

Masoli is certainly athletic. When he (finally) got booted from Oregon I asked around in the scouting community about him. Most think he doesn't have NFL game, but he could switch positions and try to make it as a wideout.

Unga is the guy to watch here, and several teams have already shown interest in him (Bengals, Dolphins, Rams, Chiefs, Steelers)

He's a big back who is hard to bring down. He gets low and will fight for every possible yard. However, he lacks instincts, does not have enough burst, and takes FOREVER to change directions. Literally takes him three or four steps to cut back because of all the momentum he generates with his size.

just went back and read some email exchanges about Masoli.....some also see him as a RB or KR - but most feel he'll have a hard time getting picked up because of all his off field stuff.

Gimmick player whose game won't work in the NFL. Doubt he'll ever make a roster, let alone play a meaningful down.
