What are the chances each of these guys play this year? Who is more likely to play, and for which team?

ETA: I am understanding the poll to mean "What are the chances these guys are active on a game day roster in 2009?" not necessarily who's going to play as in "be on the field for at least one snap."

I think Vick has a better chance of playing with the UFL this year and the NFL next year. I also think this would be the best scenario for all parties.

Vick will be a very interesting situation. I heard a rumor that Tony Dungy might speak with Goodell on Vick's behalf. Which I feel would go a long way to getting Vick eligable to play in NFL again. Now finding a team might be another story.

I think he should get another shot at the NFL and feel like he will. Just not sure it will be in 2009.

This is all about when they can get Vick back into the league with minimal PR damage; make no mistake about that.

Plax has a ton of talent in a high demand position and his charge was a) a state offense, not federal, b) did not result in harm to anyone other than him, c) Burress was licensed in FL (expired) and presumably, the gun was legally purchased, registered, and not traceable to any other crime(s), d) the club scene is the bane to the NFL (Pacman, Javon Walker, etc) and given the support of Irvin, Cotchery, and others who are speaking to support Burress, I see a four game waiver appealed down to three, e) teams are speaking of pursuing him or "not interested, why do you ask?" as opposed to Vick and Jones, f) guy shows up to play when on the field. I don't see jail time, he will have a great attorney and guns in clubs not involved in harming others rarely results in anything other than confiscation, loss of gun license (in states that issue), and suspended sentence. Will it be Jets, Tampa Bay, Tennessee, Chicago, even Seattle? He could go for close to vet minimum with incentives after this. Burress could be good financial value to whoever grabs him.

Favre, comes down to whether he clipboards in Minnesota or not. It is really a PR thing as Minn would gain more from Green Bay insight he could offer, than his field presence, as much as that pains me to say. Sad, I think he should have ended his career in GB and been grateful for a long career there.

Jones, a good, not great receiver who has a couple problems. Never a difference maker and with the exception of Cincy, I don't see anyone taking this risk for the limited reward.

Vick, will not happen this year. He will have to spend all of 2009 doing PR rehab. Also, isn't he still on parole with some state charge pending? Maybe I am wrong as I am not following this story closely. I see so many protests that an owner would have to be insane to do this. Oh... I guess he could end up a Raider.

Matt Jones - I think some team should and will take a shot with him.

Vick - maybe in 2010

Farve - His myopia will probably allow him to tarnish his legacy even further in 2009.

This is professional sports, so there's really only one kind of "PR rehab" that will do Vick any good: get on the field and perform well. Imo, Vick will be on an NFL roster this season.

Strange as it may sound, the protestors may actually work towards Vick's PR advantage. Prostestors, especially animal rights protestors, are good going over the top and making the public hate them.

The public sentiment is swaying towards people feeling like Vick ought to be able to return to football. Most real football fans will not be carrying picket signs on Sunday afternoons. They'll be in their living rooms, bars, and parking lots drinking a cold one excited to watch some football (which will be more enjoyable when Vick's on the field).

The animal rights folks have had their pound of flesh, via 2 years in Leavenworth. Excess protesting will make Vick seem to be a more sympathetic figure.

Owners will be hesitant and most will not go down that road, but it only takes one.

Personally, I'd love for Vick to become a Jag. 10-15 plays/game using Vick creatively would do some great things for the offense.

Ultimately, I think that's the question. While most really think Vick deserves another shot to play football, the only thing that matters is, do fans want Vick on their team? That's what owners will be trying to figure out over the next few months.

I also think the media buildup can only help Vick's chances. This is a compelling story. The months of Vick-hype that's about to ensue (kicked off last night) will only picque more interest. By the time Goodell's ruling comes out, many will be very disappointed if he's not reinstated. If he's reinstated, someone will take a flier on him.
