Demetrius Williams, remember him? (1 Viewer)

I'm going to highlight him in Buy Low, Sell High this week, but I figured I would give the pool an early heads up for dynasty waivers.

Demetrius Williams got back on the field late vs. the Packers and drew two long PI penalties. He is a more natural deep ball receiver than Mark Clayton, health has been the main thing holding him back. If you've watched Williams in the past, you've seen he is a natural when it comes to ball tracking and body control. Young WRs like Sidney Rice, Miles Austin, and Mike Sims-Walker have flashed similar natural ability before losing time to injuries and falling off the fantasy radar to some extent. Williams might be a more brittle than those guys, and not as naturally talented, but if he can become Flacco's designated deep receiver, very good things could be in his future. He's too talented to be on the waiver wire in deep dynasty leagues, and he could break out this weekend vs. Detroit.

The Ravens definitely need to get some deep ball action in their passing game. Defenses are just sitting on the short routes to Rice and Mason. Williams is interesting but in order to become a big part of the offense he'll need to show he can catch the ball. I think both of the PI's he drew against the Packers were passes he could have caught. Neither would have been an easy catch but both hit him right in the hands.

Tra Williams was putting the old arm bar him for both (hence the PI calls), so I'll give Williams a pass for not catching them. If you watched Williams at the beginning of last year or at Oregon, you saw that reliable hands on the deep ball is not a problem for him.

should get a lot of snaps against weak DET secondary with Mark Clayton out, can't wait to see what he does today

I'm a huge underdog in wk1 of our playoffs as I started Harrison/Ward on Thursday night and have had injuries really knock my team around. Do you like Williams over Josh Morgan in a ppr as a 'What the heck flex' type play? I'm not expecting to win so I'm looking for the biggest dice roll/reward out there. Thanks Bloom!

That a huge reach, imo. 49ers have spread their offense and Josh Morgan has been a huge beneficiary catching 12 ball the last 2 weeks.I would definitely go with Morgan in a PPR set up.

That was basically what I was thinking...guessing the 49ers will pass all game, whereas the Ravens could be up pretty big and just run the ball most of the 2nd half. Plus, as you mentioned, Morgan has been getting quite a few targets the past few weeks. Thanks for the words.

Agree with morgan in PPR.

I think the Ravens upgrade their WR1 this offseason. Mason, while still their best WR by far, may or may not be back. [Don't think it'd be worthwhile to keep him if going after Boldin]

Kelley Washington [while never likely to be a fantasy relevant WR] is the guy that's really impressed me this year. I think he's really 'got it' in terms of work ethic it takes to be an NFL WR.

Williams is probably a WR7-8 type for the offseason. Depending on what happens during that time will determine if he's rosterable. Not holding my breath with him & his inability to stay on the field -- even when used in limited capacity.

Added him earlier this month, he's a solid dynasty stash, especially this late in the season.

Will he be a starter next year? Don't know.

Is there a potential opportunity? Yes.

Does he have the talent to start? Yes.

Why hasn't he seen the field yet? Health and in the coach's dog house, anyone's guess which has been the bigger issue.

What's his current competition look like? Not good, Mason seems ageless but even if age doesn't get to him there's nothing behind him. Clayton is not the answer and Washington's a slot guy at best. That said, I'd be stunned if they don't draft a guy and there's a good chance they trade for one too/also.

I have no idea if he'll be worth a damn come May, but I'll find out with him on my roster, easier to get a guy before his potential value becomes something than after, very very low risk, unknown but potentially moderate-to-high reward.

He's kind of like Laurent Robinson. Good deep speed and jump ball skills. Thin frame and poor durability.

I'm not sure either will ever become a reliable NFL starter, but there's at least an outside chance.
