Yovani Gallardo (RHP, Milwaukee Brewers): You would be hard pressed to find a pitching prospect better than Gallardo anywhere in the minors. Through seven starts with Triple-A Nashville, Gallardo is 4-1 with a 2.53 ERA. Gallardo has allowed just 26 hits in 42.2 innings and he has struck out 55 batters. Opposing batters are hitting just .174 against him. The 21 year old Gallardo is likely ready for the majors right now, but with the Brewers playing so well, there is no room for him at this time in Milwaukee. Despite the fact there is no room for him right now, it's likely that the former 2004 second round pick will make his major league debut at some point this season. If he keeps pitching like this, the Brewers are going to have a hard time keeping Gallardo in Triple-A much longer.

There will be no rush on Gallardo or Braun. Particularly Braun who has a tender wrist right now.

Unless there is an injury, I wouldn't expect to see either one until late in the season. Who would you send down? Greg Gross? Counsell and Graffanino are too important in the clubhouse (along with Suppan) in terms of helping the young players through what will hopefully be a media storm this summer. Gwynn isn't going anywhere. It is possible the Brewers might still move an OF - but what do they need?

this site has Miller at #30 overall and Gallardo at #42 overall:http://www.scoutingbook.com/prospects/rhp

Miller:

Scouting book: #30

Baseball Prospectus: #19

Baseball America: #23

SI Preview: #27

Project Prospect: #10

Gallardo:

Scouting book: #42

Baseball prospectus: #14

looks like 2 out of 5 favor Miller, and 3 out of 5 favor Gallardo.

Good site...thanks for the link

FYI -- I have it on good information that Gallardo is about to be added to Yahoo's player pool in the next few days. Along with the following:

Ryan Braun

Joey Votto

Eric Patterson

Kevin Slowey
