Game Thread W17 - New England V Houston (1 Viewer)

I wonder if Belichick is trying to get Edelman and Brady in there together in a game situation since he knows that Welker is done for the playoffs.

Brady back in at QB.
Here's my completely subjective take on why Brady is back in for what it's worth. It makes me believe that Welker is confirmed done for the year, and they need to see what this offense is going to be like with out him. The only way to do that prior to the playoffs is to put the starters back on the field in this game. Let's see what Julian's got.

that was my thought

Whoa, Brady back in the game. Odd decision.
I agree 100 %. Why? To an extent I can respect us playing our starters but after pulling him why let him enter again?I understand the thinking of some that we'll use this as a practice for "the without Welker offense" but I don't like such a strategy much. It doesn't seem typical of BB either to give away clues of what the team will do in the playoffs at this stage in a meaningless game. Make a gameplan after this game for it to use in the playoffs. Welker will no doubt be missed but I'm still not throwing our season in the can.

Brady pissed that someone was allowed to touch him and there was no flag.
"How DARE you push me!!!"
He was beggin the ref for a flag on that? What a p-p-p-#####.Thats is incredibly weak.
He won't be able to pull that lame ### crap next year. New rule goes into effect. No more crying for a flag.Trust Andre, Kubiak, you tool.
He has thrown it to him 3 times and he didn't score on any of those so obviously Schaub needs to go to a different well.

Kris Brown should be cut as soon as this game is over. If not for his terrible misses this year, this team could already be in the playoffs.

Why does K. Brown still have a kicking job with the Texans? I am being serious here.
A crap kicker gives Kubiak someone to blame for all the team's problems and deflect the attention from the fact that he doesn't know how to coach. For God's sake Kubiak...THROW THE $#%@ BALL TO ANDRE!!!!!

Kubiak has done a magnificient job of surrounding Andre Johnson with hacks the rest of the league wouldn't even use on Special teams. He will be fired very soon.

OK, so maybe I was the fool suggesting they shouldn't try some stuff out with Edelman in Welker's place after all...

Quality stuff by the Pats so far, I especially like that we've...

...been able to overcome another crucial RB fumble (this time for a TD)

...got a pick six from an important piece of the defensive backfield of the future

...had some great plays between Brady and Edelman

The Welker injury still sucks and he will be grossly missed but it appears there is some hope still. Of course the defenses in the playoffs aren't as vanilla as Houston's version.

We've got trouble putting a game away again it seems...

I can't even count the number of 3rd and 10+ conversions Houston has had lately!!!

For those keeping track at home, Arian Foster:

1.) Hasn't been fumbling.

2.) Has been able to punch it in at the Goal Line.

3.) Has the ability to catch passes out of the backfield.

Steal of next years draft.

Brady benched again for the last drive? This has been a weird usage pattern for brady to say the least. Why bench at this point?

So much for New England this year. They just got dominated by an 8-7 team.
Well, unfortunately I don't have high hopes for the playoffs myself but I don't fully get where you're coming from.(1) The Pats are a 10-6 team and Houston now 9-7, thus only marginally better. They Pats were already in the playoffs which sort of makes you play vanilla no matter how much you pretend you won't.(2) Houston has a great pass offense and is a very bad fit for New England as it is (which the Colts and Chargers also will be).(3) losing 27-34 isn't exactly domination although the yardage total goes very much in Houstons favor.(4) are you writing off your Vikings after the losses to Carolina (whom the Pats did beat) and Chicago as well?
