***OFFICIAL 2010 Yankees thread*** (1 Viewer)

Last night was where the injuries first started really catching up with them. Forgetting Mitre's servicable night, it would look a whole lot different with Grandy in there in the 8th inning rather than Randy Winn. And yes, I know he wouldn't be batting 9th, but you get my point, Randy Winn should have been nowhere near that situation.
And Thames batting vs a righty late in the game

Someone needs to tell Valverde to stop dancing after every K. He looks like an idiot.
I actually like this stuff. It never bothered me and I like watching guys get excited :lmao: . He was filthy last night. As a Yankee fan you gotta accept it since Joba does his fist pump routine. Not sure why everyone makes a big deal about Joba and nobody ever says anything about Valverde but it doesnt bother me.

I think its a reverse racism bit. Valverde or K-Rod do it, its Latino fire, and Joba does it and he's an idiot.

I'm admittedly not the biggest Joba fan in the world, but at least pumping your fist is a cooler gesture. Jordan did it, Kobe does it, Jeter, etc.I think Valverde looks like a 5 year old playing Superman jumping off his mom's couch, followed with a big fart.

Seriously, is there any particular reason Chan Ho Yak is even ON THIS TEAM???

Much less in a tight game against a hated rival?

Girardi's moves are puzzling sometimes, but since he won a title he'll never be questioned all year.

Agreed. Park should be gone before dawn.

WTF is Joe supposed to goto? Their bullpen ####in sucks. Park, Logan, Marte, Robertson have all sucked this year and Joba was unavailable.

Time to bring up some youngsters from AAA or something. They can't be that bad.

I dont necessarily disagree with this cuz thats basically what they did last year. But thats more Cashman's fault than Joe's.

Joe babies the bullpen too much. Of course, Mr. Torre was just as bad, if not worse at managing the bully.

please tell me who he was supposed to use today? And what options do they have in AAA to call up if they release some of these bums? Again Im not disagreeing that Park, Logan, and Marte all suck or that Joe is a bad manager. I agree with both those statements. But what are some alternatives?

BTW Cashman had some offseason. Granderson has been bad and then hurt, Nick the Stick is his usual Mr Glass, Javy has been horrendous, Park is awful, Randy Winn should be called Randy Lose. The best move has been Thames.

Awesome finish last night. We had an insanely obnoxious Sox fan in our section that was screaming and jumping up and down for every STRIKE the last two innings, including foul balls, obviously trying to get under everyone's skin. And it worked because all I wanted to do was toss him over the railing.

But then he received his sentence as Thames HR went flying over the wall.

Interesting how many awesome May 17ths there have been for this team.

1998: Wells perfecto

2002: Giambi extra inning walk-off grand slam down by 3

2009: Damon extra inning walk-off HR

2010: A-Rod/Thames HRs off Paps

I actually forgot about the Damon one last night despite having been there for it. That was during the weekend of all the walkoffs against the Twins. This team has really provided some epic finishes this past year+ at the new place. You know it's been awesome when you try to remember all the walk-offs you've been to and actually can't remember them all!

 I bought tix from you last year for May 18. The only game vs the Twins that weekend that wasnt a walkoff.

Well DUH...if I sold you a walk-off game then I wouldn't have had it for myself! :wall:

Awesome... I was in a bar in the city for the Aaron Boone HR Game and this group of Sox fans were literally on top of Tables singing "nah nah nah nah... goodbye" as early as the 3rd inning I believe - or whenever the Sox took a lead....Went to another bar in the middle of the game and again obnoxious Sox fans were singing and dancing a lot of ####.... There's a level of obnoxiousness that so deserves a beat down or a stomach punch loss at least....Of course when it was said and done I made a phone call to my buddy, a sox fan. ;P

Ha, nice. My cousin's husband, who is also a good friend of mine, was at the game last night. He's a Sox fan and got corporate tickets from his company. He and I like some good-natured ribbing back and forth but like I said he's a good friend so we don't get vicious or anything. Last night though I had a little fun.Yesterday was his first game at the new place, so we're texting back and forth about the game and stuff. He texts me around 11:00 (moments after the game ended)."My co-worker had to bounce in the 7th inning and I'm stuck on the train with no Internet. What was the final?"Now keep in mind that when he left the Yanks had a 1-run lead.I texted him back, "Yanks won by 2".Poor guy probably went to bed assuming the Yanks tacked on one in the 8th and Boston went home quietly. I can't wait to call him later to see what his reaction was when he woke up this morning! :excited:

Nice job by Ortiz standing there admiring his single. I don't see how that's any better than what Hanley Ramirez did. At least he wasn't the go-ahead run or anything.

By the way, WTF JOBA???

By the way this home plate ump is a disaster (for both teams). McDonald just struck out looking -- meanwhile the ump is calling 'no swing'. NO KIDDING IT'S NO SWING BUT IT WAS RIGHT OVER THE INSIDE CORNER MORON! And of course, one pitch later the go-ahead run is on 1B.

Unfrigginbelievable. Thames goes from hero to goat in less than 24 hours. Rivera getting squeezed multiple times this inning. Joba with another disaster performance. Teixeira leaves a small African village on base in the last two innings. Jesus.

No worries. Pap is in.

He can't be a double goat right? Gotta hit at least a SF here.
Mike, you get my PM from the other night?
Nah I'll check later.By the way, serious consideratino here for Winn to take 3 strikes.

Im convinced its all mechanical with him. Some days hes in there throwing 95mph and hard sliders. Yesterday he was at 91 and had no control.

That was the most frustrating thing about the game. CDonald struck out looking AND swinging on the same ####in pitch!

How's Hughes look tonight to 'yuuz guyz'?
looked pretty good imo. gave up a few two out hits early and then Randy Lose cost him a run late. 7Ks and was hittting 94mph regularly.
I agree...first time I've watched him for a few innings this season...he seems to have a lot of power with a lot of options. He did throw some apparent meat to Wright and others...but they couldn't make solid contact.
