Game Thread W5 - Green Bay V Washington (1 Viewer)

...After all the crap Packer fans have been giving Vikings fans this year... :scared: :pickle:
Considering the crap Viking fans have been spewing all year and AE in this thread...you whine is laughable.
No wine...more like, my preseason Packer analysis was honest and spot on. It's looking like these shades weren't so purple after all. :pickle: Either way it's still too early for any Norris team to talk big and that's what a majority of Vikings fans have been saying all along. All three teams have shown some major cracks, but yet it was all about bashing Favre for a typical slow start.

Still at the end of the day, here's hoping the injuries are not too serious, and I wish those guys a speedy recovery because week 7 is right around the corner. I can't wait.
So you knew they would be 7 starters down after 5 weeks and maybe 8 considering Rodgers concussion? It's the Amazing Kreskin!

Packers fans still whining about the refs? Who would have guessed?
The refs sucked again today.Did they cost the Packers the game? Hell no. But they sucked. How is it a penalty on every other team for even looking at a QB wrong, yet when they crush Rodgers and hit him helmet to helmet it's never called? This week he freaking got a concussion on a helmet to helmet hit and no call.Pathetic.

the officiating was pretty bad.....for both teams.

I only saw the 4th Qrtr, but I believe it.

Because Rodgers is a ##### and even the refs are out to get him. Need a tissue?

I'm glad the Redskins won today but I also hope that Finley, Lee, Rodgers, and Matthews recover quickly.

Isn't there a half a dozen penalties you can cry about or something?

Request for Packers fans: we don't mind you bringing your loud purple friends to our party, but please make sure to clean up before you leave and make sure that you and they remember to take all of your baggage. kthxbye

Watching the short cut now. Wow, how can the refs miss face gaurding in the endzone like that? I mean it was horrid.

There is no face guarding rule I don't think.Nice buzz word...but without actual contact...its not going to get called.

Um, yeah, there is.
Care to find face guarding in the NFL rules? Its a myth...people thought it was a rule...but if a player does not make contact, they will not call him for interference.Had the receiver run back to the ball on that and created a good bit of contact, there likely would have been a call.It didn't happen.

Did you catch the 2 pass interference infractions against Woodson that weren't called?
Except they weren't PI.happy to help
Ball in the air and approaching the receiver. Woodson approaching the receiver. Woodson hits receiver before ball arrives.OK, what were they then?

http://www.ehow.com/facts_4778957_nfl-rule...e-guarding.html

It may come as a surprise to many football fans across the country, but there are currently no NFL rules on face guarding. It does not quality as pass interference. According to the official rulebook, it is not a banned technique in the National Football League at this time.
Thats just the first link I could find.I have read about this before too.
Regardless. It’s a second-and-seven play on the Patriots 19-yard line. Peyton Manning sets up behind center, checks the coverage and calls for the snap. He takes a three step drop and fires the football into the end zone, aimed for wideout Reggie Wayne, who’s given Ellis Hobbs the slip and is streaking down the sideline for a touchdown catch.

But Hobbs stays with the Colts No. 2 receiver. He closes on Wayne, chopping his feet to avoid bumping into the wideout, a sure penalty since his back is to the passer. Wayne’s eyes widen, indicating the ball is on its way. Free from contact, Hobbs jumps up but doesn’t turn to look for the football, which strikes Hobbs’ left biceps from behind and falls to the turf dead.

Penalty flags fly, and referee Bill Carollo turns on his mic to let everyone know that the penalty’s on the “Defense. Automatic first down. The ball will be placed at the 1-yard line.” Manning hits former Patriot Dan Klecko for a 1-yard touchdown pass.

Looks like they will call it sometimes and it did exist at one time.

Why didn't you post the rest of the story?League Admits a bad call

..............Not so, according to replay official Dean Blandino, who joined Bob Boylston in the booth that day.

In a recent posting by Vic Ketchman, Jaguars.com senior editor, Ketchman responded to a fan’s posting about the play, writing, “You are absolutely correct. Face-guarding was discontinued several years ago and I completely missed it.”

Apparently, Ketchman had already responded to questions about the play, attributing the call to face-guarding just like Simms and countless fans across the nation who tuned in to watch the most viewed AFC Championship game in over 20 years. There is no NFL rule against face-guarding.

“I talked to Dean Blandino in the league office and he confirmed what you’re saying,” wrote Ketchman. “Ellis Hobbs should not have been flagged for pass-interference. He didn’t make contact with the receiver and in no way did Hobbs impede Reggie Wayne’s ability to catch the pass. Blandino confirmed that the incorrect call was made. … Referee Bill Carollo made no reference to face-guarding in his explanation, but CBS analyst Phil Simms did. Apparently, he, too, doesn’t know the rule no longer exists. The next time you hear a TV analyst say, ‘he wasn’t playing the ball,’ think of the Hobbs play, then turn down the sound.”

You've got me wrong. I'm just bringing up the flip side to all the complaining from Packer fans about penalties that weren't called. It works both ways. Non-calls aren't the reason for the outcome of the game.

Refs where terrible in that game, but thought they equaled out. Im also a huge UofM fan and love watching Chuck, but he is able to play db like he did when he 1st entered the league, he hand checks all over the field

Fatness, now you are learning how Packers fans think. This is how I can grow up in Wisconsin and become a Bears fan. The blind homers that only see things one way and continue to complain about calls over and over again.

I don't think anyone is saying the calls are what lost the game for the Packers.

 Real classy there...

If I was a packer fan, I would be a little disappointed that the packers don't trade to upgrade the rb position. It's a down year in the nfc and with a little running game, I think the pack can get to the superbowl. I know Jackson had a good week vs Washington, but I not sure if he is the guy. I know all the injuries the packers have, but to keep asking Rogers to carry the load is to much, I mean teams will just go after Rogers every game. I think the coaching is questionable for the packers, but I guess T T is going to keep building with draft picks, which could work out.

Shanny has done a nice job with the skins, they could make and go deep in the playoffs.

I'm stating facts...look at this thread. This game has been finished for almost 2 days now, yet yall are discussing calls back and forth. It's like this every week.

You are not stating facts, you are stating your very biased opinion.

We are discussing calls.

Should we not discuss a missed helmet to helmet shot that may knock our QB out of the next game?

Nobody is blaming the refs for the loss.

Perhaps you need to read the thread if you think they are.

Instead, you stoop down to try and take shots at Packer fans and just call others blind homers (funny given how much of a homer you are for your own team too).

And if you can't discuss the game without taking shots at the fans, perhaps you should just stay out of the thread.

:bag: Stating "facts" about all Packer fans based on the crazy comments of like 2-3 people in the Shark Pool. Too funny.BTW - I can't believe that you grew up in WI and became a Bears fan. That says more about you than it does about Packer fans.

Packers fans still whining about the refs? Who would have guessed?
The refs sucked again today.Did they cost the Packers the game? Hell no. But they sucked. This is complaining about calls....

Bolded the important part for you.Yes, the guy complained about missing a call that may put our QB out for next week.

I think he has a legit beef there.

and what about his statement is making us "blind homers"?

Finley, Pickett, Matthews today. Burnett, Barnett, Grant, Harris, Bigby, jolly. This team has had so many injuries and people being out. Unbelievable.
Complaining about injuries...
And your point?Ok, I guess as fans of a team we should be happy our QB got concussed and we are missing that many starters.Awesome.Im sure nobody could ever find a Bear fan complaining.Heck, you and Dr are in a Packer thread, complaining about Packer fans.Seriously...grow up man.

Grow up...does that put me in my place on a message board. If you have already forgotten, my point of blind homers was b/c I have and currently do live in a state which Packers fans are homers. I have literally sat and watched a game where they complained if the call didn't go the Packers way, even if it was obvious it wouldn't....they would cheer on injuries of the other team...etc. This is why I am biased....but living in the state gives me a different perspective that you don't have Sho Nuff in Tennessee. In the end, you are in this thread as well...so trying to place blame on me is very contradicting. Bad calls are made....injuries happen. But it is week 6...move on.

Nothing you quoted was an example of a "blind homer".And you calling other fans homers is hilarious...look in the mirror.Ahh...going for where I live right?Yet another thing you have no clue about.I grew up 30 minutes from Lambeau. My family all lives there still. I try to get back for a game every other year or so. I have a pretty good idea about what is going on up there most of the time.Now...enough of this BS back and forth crap. If you can't discuss a topic without just going after an entire fan base with your biased opinion, you probably need to just stay out of Packer threads. And no, the grow up was not to put you in your place...it was advice, because you are acting like a child.Im in this thread as well? Yes...Im in a PACKER thread. Imagine that, as I am a Packer fan.Bad calls are made and injuries do happen...I don't think it makes anyone a blind homer to discuss them.

This line of reasoning may have been relevant two or three weeks ago. With the current rash of injures R.B. is not nearly their chief concern.

:goodposting: @ the cheese brains calling out someone for being a homer. So 'Skins fans are supposedly ignoring a non-existent penalty, faceguarding, making them homers, but "it's called football" when Saint Woodson makes contact before the ball arrives. Rube.
