Childress throws Favre under the bus (1 Viewer)

I'll say one thing in Childress' favor... he appears to be in better shape right now than Brett Favre. :P
I wonder who would win in a fight. I bet that Brett would... but that Chilli would be scrappy and not as easy to dispose of as many people would expect.

Of the three INT's, which ones were completely his fault? I understand when Favre scrambles he looks deeper some times but Moss was completely lost or does not have chemistry yet with Favre. I point to this one because on another slant play Moss did not even look for the ball when Favre threw it and while that one did not get intercepted, it should have been.

On another one Harvin was the intended receiver and when the ball was in the air he just stood there. The ball was there if he moves to it... is that not what receivers are taught... to move to the ball? Collins made a good play on the ball but Harvin is also to blame there.I cannot think of the third one off hand.
Funny, when I saw that play, I had the opposite take. All week we've been hearing from people like Sterling Sharpe about how WR's are partially to blame for these concussions because they go running through the zones instead of slowing down and sitting in the seams like they are supposed to. And then what does Collinsworth say when Harvin does exactly that? He says Harvin should've kept moving to keep Collins from closing on him. Maybe we should get he and Sharpe in a studio and they can debate the issue.I'm pretty sure it was zone coverage and Harvin found the spot. It could be that Favre took a bit too long to find him or Collins was watching his eyes and anticipated the throw to Harvin. It's very possible it was just a good, heads-up play by Collins.

For a guy who has thrown as many int's as Favre has in his career, I'm pretty sure we can put some of them on him instead of his WR's.

Favre also missed seeing Moss wide open on a couple of occasions. That sort of thing happens, so I'm not blasting Favre for it. I'm just saying that he isn't perfect and has been even less so this season. Could he have been trying too hard last night and forced some balls? I think so.

but if Chilly throws the challenge flag, they probably win
Hard to say...GB gets a FG there...maybe later they don't go for the fake or on 4th and short and kick another FG.Just too hard to say what would have happened had that play changed just because of the final score because it would possibly change some of the game plans and decisions that were made.

Who cares, he deserved it. Favre should know better than making some of those god-awful throws.
But you don't do that in the presser if you are a head coach.Just mindnumbingly dumb.I liked the comment in the game thread calling McCarthy, Childress, and Lovie the three stooges.
:) Childress blames his players, Lovie blames no one and says everything is fine, and McCarthy says, "We'll have to watch he tape to find out who to blame."
Is it possible that the Lions have the best coach in the NFC North :) I hope the 3 Stooges stick around for a long time coming... :lmao: :lmao:

The turning point of this game was the Shiancoe non TD. While the Bishop int was brutal, I agree the other 2 have as much to do with the WR. And the guy made some incredible throws in that game.
Like that incredible underhanded lob that should have been picked off, too? You can break down the INTs all you want and try to blame them on others, Favre threw a number of really bad passes last night. And on the most important play of the night he tripped over his own feet.

Childress knows the season is circling the drain and Favre will simply walk away from the wreckage into the sunset. He doesn't want to go with him, extension or not. So he's separating himself from Favre.I'm sure he doesn't like the clear disrespect on the sidelines, either. He picked him up from the airport. he'd probably be happy to drop him off.
This.Childress is getting heat for being critical of Favre in the presser. Funny.Meanwhile, everyone in the press is talking about how sources in the locker room are saying that the players are not happy with Childress's running of the offense and the players wish Favre had more control in running the offense. The Childress/Favre rift has been widely reported all season long. Anyone think it was Childress going public with that? Maybe he should have voiced his displeasure in the form of an anonymous leak.I don't fault Childress much at this point. Every other bit of in-house dirty laundry has somehow made it out into the public eye by "sources" in the locker room, so why not just say it out in the open now? He's probably decided it's time to quite playing nice and start defending himself. It's never Favre is it? It's always someone else. His WR's, his coach, his GM.

Did Childress know what he was getting when he begged Favre to go to Minnesota?

I think so.

Favre didn't earn a "gunslinger" reputation by playing it safe. He's always tried to force passes into tight places and he's always played with the "gunslinger" attitude. Usually, because of his athletic ability and right arm it works. Last night it didn't.

Childress knows who his quarterback is,he isn't going to change his game now.

And frankly, I'm sick of him walking fine and breaking high jump records after a TD (Shiancoe) but limping like Festus from Gunsmoke after a bad play.
No need to mess with Favre's signature move. You know it's coming. If he can just play another 5 years or so, when he throws that ill advised pick-6, he will grab his elbow and then switch over to limping when he remembers that it was his ankle that was on the injury report.

Of course there is this, the second article:http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikings/...mP:QMDCinchO7DU

Face it haters, it just might be possible that the guy is tough as nails and not as much of a drama queen as you guys are.

Concur. Spot on for Childress to call out Favre. He's exactly right on target with this one.

I'm sorry but this is actually one instance where it's not Brad's fault. You have guys up in the booth to see all the angles and make the call to throw the challenge flag or not. You can not waste the TOs in a close and tough divisional match-up on the road. Score one for the Packers stadium guys for only showing the very best parts of that catch. You just can not fault him for that one.Now was his fault for not using those timeouts before the half to score. That was another in a long line of the worst head coaching decisions I've ever seen from Childress.

From PFT

"I was going to give him that next series and he took us and moved us down the field," Childress said in reference to Minnesota's last touchdown drive.

The Vikings coach didn't hide his frustrations with Favre's three interceptions.

"It still goes back to taking care of the football," Childress said. "You can't throw it to them. You've got to play within the confines of our system. Sometimes, it's OK to punt the football, and you can't give seven points going the other way. Not in a game like this."
This is it? Seriously, this is what people are getting all in a wad about? The ironic thing is that people call Favre a drama queen for limping on the field. Talk about hypocrits.

To be fair, after Favre threw what he thought was the game winning TD to Harvin, he tried to jump to celebrate and noticeably couldn't do it, so it's not like when things are going well everything is magically fine.

Bears don't really have room to point fingers do they?
Why not? Yes Cutler threw for 4 picks. Yet, the refs and his coach let him down with an obvious TD which if called correctly, the game is over at 21-10. AT least 4 different experts (NFL Network guys; Aikman etc) said Knox had a lot to blame for 2 of the ints. YET Cutler said in the presser that all 4 TDs were his fault. That is being a stand up guy. Cutler does not fake injuries. Favre is a drama queen who has been doing this for years. I remember in his prime too, when Favre would lose a game (for eg I remember the MNF game against Panthers very well where Hoover ran all over the packers) and he would not even shake anyones hands after the loss....so much for someone who just loves to play the game). He is a fraud and he is being exposed now because packer fans finally are willing to admit this too now that they see threw his BS.

i dont blame childress.........he probably tells favre over and over behind closed doors to cut that stuff out and favre just doesn't listen...........maybe now that he does it in front of the media favre will get the message

let's get one thing straight, Brett Favre is all about Brett Favre first and team 2nd...for every great gunslinger play he makes, he make 2 disastrous plays......Favre basically ruined the jets chances of a playoff spot during his short stint in ny by playing the last 4-5 games of the year just to keep the streak a live, later revealing he had no business being on the field.

And it's ridiculous how the sunday night football cameras follow him off the field, into the locker room etc like he just save somebody's life.......he just stunk up the building.....again.

Can't wait to see Childress end his consecutive games streak.......can you imagine if any other NFL quarterback made the decisions he has?? they've would've been pulled weeks ago not glorified.

Yeah Cutler a stand up guy. Said he didnt sweat DeAngelo Hall(4 individual interceptions including a pick 6 off Cutler yesterday) at all and would continue to throw at him if they played again tommorow :lmao: When DeAngelo was told of this on NFL Networks "Around the League" he responded "If I played Jay Cutler every Sunday I would be in the Hall of Fame right now!"

I'll take Farve......

Cutler is Favre Lite... Pretty much the same player but Cutler will never win a SB, because his attic is bare...

There was much more than that... Chilly was going on and on about Favre going to one side of the field when the play was designed to go to the other. There was a lot of frustration coming out in that press conference. People act like that a lot when their concoction blows up in their face.
