my boy Coughlin is doing just fine. Although he looks like he's on the verge of cardiac arrest whether they are up by 20 or down by 20.

Can't think about firing Sean Payton yet, but he's getting schooled this season. Not enough adjustment between 2009 and this year ... the book is out.

Haven't thought about this before but we could be looking at a monumental shift this offseason:

NFC

safe: Coughlin, Shanahan, Reid, Schwartz, Mike Smith, Payton, Morris, Carrol, St. Louis coach (no clue who this is)

should be safe: Whisenhunt, McCarthy

Hot Seat: Phillips, Lovie, Childress

lame ducks: Singletary, Fox

AFC

safe: Bellicheat, Ryan, Harbaugh, Spags, Tomlin, Kubiak, Mangini, Colts coach, Fisher

should be safe: McDaniels, Haley, Cable

hot seat: Turner, Del Rio, Lewis, Gailey

2 coaches almost assured to be gone, another 7 at least likely.

I think the best thing to do is fire every coach as soon as the team loses a game. That way the coach that wins the Superbowl will be able to claim an undefeated season!

Like it or not your team is doing better than expected. Didn't you guys win yesterday?

McCarthy should not just be safe.

No way Chan Gailey is on the hot-seat. There's not a chance, unless Cowher come knocking on Ralphs door and says, "Can I coach the Bills? You can take Chan's remaining salary out of mine."

Hey this isnt Congress, where they all suck except your own. I would like to see a new playoff format where 2 BEST teams actually play each other, Ravens vs Steelers....come on how about it

Agreed. Ralph won't can him after Year 1. They all know there aren't the pieces for anyone to win there. Now after Year 4..........

Yeah because Bill Cowher is so good that he won 1 SB in his entire career....only thanks to a Pick Six before the half. Bill Cowher is so good that he had multiple 7-9, 8-8, 6-10 seasons but no one cared.

 Maybe losing Pierre Thomas, Reggie Bush is actually a factor. Maybe on D you are not supposed to get turnovers every year. I love the fire everyone after one game crowd. This is why the person who said fans are dumb and should stick to drinking beer and eating their wings was correct.

I heard somebody say that there more than likely won't be that much turnover coaching wise this offseason. This is b/c of the impending lock out. If there is truly a lock out then the OTA's are probably not going to happen. That is where new coaches would implement their systems. If by chance the lock out looms longer it becomes even more likely that a new coach couldn't even get a new system implemented before and during training camp. Most GM's and owners understand this so they won't make any moves this offseason...

If the Bears fired Lovie and hired Cowher, you would be on this board and the other telling everyone what a great hire it was and that the Bears were heading to the Super Bowl.Just as Im quite sure you went on and on and on about how great it was to hire Martz.

Some, but this isn't close to a total answer. Teams have been taking away the deep part of the field, and Payton's been able to respond with anything consistently effective from other positions (TE, slot WR).
Maybe on D you are not supposed to get turnovers every year.
The Saints' defense has done it's job -- much better yardage rankings than last year. Being so far down in the turnover dept is on the offense this year, not on the defense.

Maybe you were speaking to the house, and not to me, but I never said fire Payton. I did say he was getting schooled -- watch a Saints game and check how often the WR routes are getting jumped.

That was more a function of the Rob Ryan defense than anything else. I don't know...Mangini has just left a bad taste in my mouth. If the Chucky rumors are true, I would love having him here. Gruden would be a great coach to have.

I wish this was true, but it probably isn't. Norv was just renewed in January until 2013. AJ likes their relationship, and Spanos isn't the type to fire a coach and keep paying him.

The argument locally isn't whether Del Rio should be fired.

It's whether he should be fired on the Week 9 bye or wait until after the season.

Point differential in the Jags 4 losses is -99. When a defensive coach has a team whose defense is ranked 30 or lower in just about every category, the writing is on the wall.
