Serious question urbanhack...did you buy these for everyday wear or just in rough terrain type of weather? I just bought a pair similar to these (black though), but basically to wear to plow through the snow during our rough winters.
i thought you lived in tucson?

Just got these in the mail today Pajar Boots.

thoughts?
boots with zippers? actually any footwear with zippers is a bad call, imo...

I bought them to wear to work when it's snowy and messy out or extremely cold.

I'm going to agree with Beau Bummer on this one. Brown shoes do not go with black or gray suits/slacks.
darker the suit, the sweeter the juice. no, wait, i forget the rule...
I think the only way to pull of light brown shoes with a suit is if you're a real dandy and you have a very fitted suit with a higher him (similar to a previous pic). It's good schtick on occasion but definitely not something I'd try on the reg. I let me suit do the talking. I think the light brown thing is either "hey, look at me guys. I know :style:". The boring blue suit with brown shoes says " I don't have a clue and I've given up".

i think dark brown shoes are perfectly acceptable with a grey suit. it's the light brown shoes that are much more up for grabs.

Don't know if this has been covered before.

Thoughts on brown shoes with a navy blue suit? It's a nicely tailored, slim-cut 2-button, smallish lapel suit. I think this is the exact suit.

I'm looking for a leather soled shoe or ankle boot that would work well for weddings, job interviews, and other semi-formal evening events.

Should I go brown? Stick to black? Lace-up oxford or ankle boot? I'd prefer to stick to under $150 is possible. $200 absolute max here.

Suggestions from the style gurus please.
I have these brown shoes. I wear them with any color suit.
I like the look of these (not sure if I can pull off the blue laces). Living down south, so I dont think there is a store with these available. Do they run small/large? My shoe size is a half size so should I round up or down?

Thinking about making a sizable investment in some shoes after the holidays. The type I can wear for the next 10+ years (resoled, ect).

Wingtip?

Cap Toe?

Calf Shoe?

Joe> I would stay away from bow ties if I was you. GQ has touted many a 'comeback' that never materialized. There are perhaps two occasions for a bow tie I can think of:

1) Summer wedding

2) Black tie

It should go without saying, but it you do still choose to go down that path, at least make sure it is hand tied

You should get these instead. Remember brown shoes are so 5 years ago.
Nothing against Browne but you can get a similar look for a lot less here http://www.zappos.com/product/7737411/color/72J
Aldo shoes are pretty crappily made. Decent for a year of wearing but after that will start to show some pretty good wear and tear which you don't want in a nice dress shoe (threading unraveling, sole worn down, heavy wrinkle marks, etc.). But, decent if you wanna give the boots look a try for a decent price.

I think these all look awful. The suits would look much better with black shoes. If you want to stand out and be kooky, wear colored socks.

Any of you guys buying that bow ties are back? http://www.gq.com/style/wear-it-now/201011...z-beatz#slide=1

If you're a really cool rockstar who you can get away with a bowtie. Or just about anything. But very, very, VERY few people can pull off that look. For the most part it makes you look like like some ridiculous liberal arts professor.
Good for special occasions (holiday/theme parties) but that's about it IMO. The people that wear this stuff to work or a night out are trying too hard IMO. However, it is good peacocking material. Teh wimmenz will approach.

If you're a confident guy just about anything will work. This past weekend I wore a big fake mustache. I was shocked at the number of women (and dudes :lmao: ) who came up to me to talk about that thing.

Peacocking? But the bowtie is just awful. I want to gut anybody I see wearing one without a tux.

What's the backstory here Doc?
Still wondering.
Not sure there's much of a backstory. I'm just a goofy fun loving attention whore. I spent a quarter on a fake mustache and wore it that night for laughs. I saw an old friend that night and we partied hard...when I woke up around noon the next day I realized that thing was still plastered on there. I only had a few hours until dinner with different friends, so I kept it going. Towards the end of the night it started hurting but in the name of shtick I was determined to keep it on a few hours more. We went to the bar next door to the restaurant and I was floored by the number of chicks who just came up and grabbed it or said/asked me about it. One chick just came up and started talking to me...not two minutes later it was a full makeout session. I let her rip it off if she'd give me a kiss. I got 5 or so #'s that night. :P My looks are pretty average and I'm not as stylish as you folk. But I've worn all kinds of crazy stuff. I don't do it to pick up chicks but because it's funny and causes some laughs. The wimmens are a bonus. I've worn some extremely colorful jackets, an oversized bowtie, a monkey hand puppet, a fake rubber hand, a giant party hat, nerd glasses, and the biggest gimmick of all, a crazed wig. I would sometimes bring a bag of suckers and shout "Lollipops for everybody!" That seems to work incredibly well. I can't remember everything I did but it really was for shtick...but the women - they love shticks. If you're the quiet type just wearing a suit is a :boxing: move. I've done that a few times. I used to have women randomly grab me in the bars and exclaim "Omg, my friend took a picture with you last week! Can we take a picture with you?!" And from there they'd usually buy me a drink and many a nights I hooked up with random chick. I got more booze/attention than all but the hottest of women. It becomes a feeding frenzy. People would always drag me out to the bars because I managed to quickly gather a following or would always find the after hours party. And because I had so many groupies other folk saw me with a crowd and the cycle just fed into itself. It was fun for a few years but then I fell into a relationship. I recently broke up and have slowly started going back out. Doesn't seem to be as much fun this time around. I think I'm getting old.
