Is Gabbert good for Fitzgerald? (1 Viewer)

Will Gabbert improve Larry's stats from 2010 or should we expect more of the same? Would Larry be better off if AZ brought in a veteran such as McNabb?

Thoughts...

A trade to a team with an NFL QB would be better for Fitz.
I agree with you I do think that bringing in a veteran would be better for Fitz. That being said that is not what the question asked. The question asked if Gabbert would be good for Fitzgerald and based on those parameters I would have to agree that Gabbert would be good for Fitzgerald because the Arizona QB's were awful last year.

I think a veteran like Orton, and McNabb will be a better fit for Fitz. Gabbert is a beast, but a veteran IMO is better for Fitzgerald

Staying with AZ, here is my take. Getting a #1 Palmer (assuming his arm strength is truly back) or #2 McNabb would be ideal. Orton isn't terrible, but he doesn't seem like a good fit since he doesn't have a great deep ball in the arsenal. Free agency coming after the draft makes it much harder though. Unless AZ is 100% sold on Gabbert as a franchise QB, there is no reason to waste this pick just because the team needs a QB. Too many holes to fill even though a QB makes sense. Maybe a guy like Mallet would be better in a later round. He throws a great deep ball and may help raise Fitz' value more. Mallet's reported lack of maturity almost pushes the team to get a vet to show the kid how to prepare for being an NFL QB. He is almost guaranteed to fail if he doesn't have a mentor.

The largest factor going against Fitz last year was his torn mcl in preseason. Fitz put up pretty stellar numbers with skelton at the end of last season because he was finally healthy.Fitz is like calvin johnson, it doesnt matter who is throwing him the ball. Fitz will be a top 3 wide reciever next year as long as he can stay healthy. For fantasy football purposes I hope that the Cardinals do not bring in a quarterback, that way I can draft Fitz in the early to mid second.:edit:First half of the season42 receptions for 510 yardsSecond half of the season48 receptions for 627 yards

Coach Ken Whisenhunt said that Larry Fitzgerald's knee started bothering him late in Sunday's win over the Rams, and it "slowed him down some."
Larry Fitzgerald was spotted with a plastic brace on his left wrist after Sunday's loss to the Falcons, but said it's nothing serious.Fitzgerald added that the wrist issue was related to something he sustained in Week 1. It's clear he isn't 100 percent between his knee woes and this tweak, but he's not in danger of missing any games. Fitzgerald is surely looking forward to the Cardinals' Week 6 bye, which should give him a chance to get back to full strength.

The deep ball is not Fitz's game. He hasn't caught a ball for longer than 50 yards in 3 of the last 4 seasons.Fitz is Fitz so short answer: You can't say because, as bad as the QB play was last year in AZ, there is no guarantee that Gabbert would be any better...just specualation.

Long answer: The safest way to get Fitz back up to where he normally is...draft AJ Grren or Julio Jones. That would make the biggest impact to Fitz in a positive way this season. Speculation on my part but I honestly believe if they could add Green and get Orton, this would be an extremely dynamic offense this year.
