MLB in-season thread (1 Viewer)

Brett Wallace hitting .324 after tonight's game. Only 1 HR but it's nice to see him hitting at the MLB level.
His minor league stats kind of tell us he's gonna be a 20-25 HR guy but he has extra base attributes having 63 doubles in the minors. His total line is pretty consistent (.304/.375/.487) and I think that will translate to the majors. I think with him if he is hitting for average he's comfortable and the power will come. Not real bullish on him being a big HR hitter these first couple of years but I think he can really be a good run producer and thus a viable option at CI.

And hes got a big tuchus

Ubaldo Jimenez - Josh Johnson matchup today. No score in bot of third. Josh Johnson is dealing again.
Ubaldo gives up the first hit for either team in the bottom of the fifth. Unfortunately for him he had walked the bases full before the 3-run triple.

James Shields shut down the Jays in a CG victory. It's early, but it looks like he's going to reward those who bought low on him after his terrible 2010 season.

Dice-K is such a strange pitcher. Guy can go from looking like an ace to a below average starter in an instant. So inconsistent.

ESPN: Please stop with the live K-zone. It's distracting and obnoxious. I want to see the movement of the baseball and the hitter's approach at the plate. Not your opinion of what the strike zone should be.

Brian Wilson: Enough with the beard schtick. I realize it's made you famous, but after giving up 6 runs in your last two outings you might want to try something else in the offseason instead of doing commercials.

x1000 It's a close race between who I'm more tired of seeing, Wilson or that Jane Lynch chick, the dyke form that glee tv show. That's enough now, we get it, you're weird and quirky, and try too hard to be funny, your 15 minutes is now up.

On the day that Ian Kennedy becomes a father for the first time, he does this vs the Phillies

114 pitches

9IP

10K

3H

0BB

0ER

MLB lied to me and just corrected themselves. Baby was born yesterday.

Still -

I remember someone saying they thought Kennedy would be the best out of him, Hughes, and Joba. Lemme see if I can find it.

Put Hughes or Jobber in the NL west in pressure free environs and I'm sure you see more than IPK has showed.

...and that's today's East coast bias moment.
No kidding.
It's one game folks. Relax.
You DO realize Kennedy started 32 games last year and had a very good year, right?

Who had a better year last year? Who's having a better year this year? I'll hang up and listen

Gavin Floyd is dominating the Yankees. 8 innings, 3 hits, 1 walk, 10 strikeouts. 2 of the hits were homeruns but that's still impressive. He get into Arod's stash?

He's shown flashes of this numerous times. The only thing that's odd about this is that it's happening in April

I'm not surprised to see him flash talent...but I'm surprised to see him flash so much of it against a team that can hit as well as NY. But I'm always happy to see the Yankees lose so go Floyd!

So far this year it seems that team defense is really good.

I'm not just talking about the White Sox outfielder Lillibridge from yesterday or Choo nailing the two runners at the plate on Sunday, or the Web-Gems,but in general it looks like most teams are playing very sharp, and consistent defense all around the diamond.
