10 bold predictions for 2011 (1 Viewer)

Vick will continue to score more fantasy points than any player in the league.
Bold, so bold.
Actually it is. If people thought he would score like he did last year, he would be going #1. Seems the vast majority are doubtful and he is falling late first, early second. A healthy Vick would be an easy ticket to the Super Bowl.
I get what you are saying, but a bold prediction like Llyod will be a top 3 WR, or Hillis scores 12 TD's or Stevie Johnson will be top 5 are BOLD last year, this year they would just be trending.

1. The Patriots will go 15-1 this season.

2. Cleveland Browns are the surprise team of 2011 - usurp Pittsburgh and win the division

3. After the first 8 games, Peyton Hillis will lead the league in rushing. (at least, according to fantasy points)

4. Peyton Manning has his worst season statically since he was a rookie.

5. Blaine Gabbert does not play until the Jag are eliminated from post season.

6. Matt Flynn is the next Matt Cassel or Kevin Kolb. (ie Flynn will get the franchise tag before he is traded in 2012)

7. Jake Locker out performs the rest of the 2011 rookie QBs.

8. Marvin Lewis is fired half way through the season.

9. Jets make the playoffs but are eliminated early due to a poor performance by Sanchez.

10. An 8-8 team wins the AFC West.

I tried to make these predictions bold but I am not sure if I succeeded.

Apparently you've been missing out on the "Why shouldnt Vick be the #1 QB/Overall Pick" discussions that have been going on since the eagles beat the redskins last year.

He's going 8th or later in my redraft mocks.

Carson Palmer will show up a few days before the season starts... Trying to force Mike Brown to cut him but he will pay the $11.5 million salary instead.

2010 players most likely on a championship team - Michael Vick, Peyton Hillis, Brandon Lloyd and Jason Witten. 2011 - Colt McCoy, Reggie Bush, Mike Wallace and Greg Olsen.

It would have to be from an Addai injury, but not by performance. Addai looks like a new man so far in preseason.

Yes, but that part didn't seem so "bold" so I left it out. :P

Bears Win the NFC North (Cutler top 10 FF QB)

Redskins win the NFC East (Hightower top 5 FF RB)

Rams win the NFC West (SJax returns to top 5 status as well)

(Atlanta wins the NFC South, but that's not a bold prediction)

Michael Vick finishes with 100 more points than any other QB.

Matt Ryan leads the NFL in passing yards.

Mark Ingram leads the league in rushing TD's, but fails to crack 1,000 yards.

Jahvid Best has 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving in route to being the #1 RB.

Tim Hightower leads the NFL in rushing yards with over 1,500.

Calvin Johnson has a TD in every game.

Mike Wallace leads the NFL in receving yards with over 1,500.

Miles Austin and Dez Bryant both top 1,200 yards receiving

Lee Evans finishes with 1,100 yards and 9 TD's.

Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez both finish as top-5 TE's.

LeGarrette Blount will finish as the #1 RB in fantasy. He will be this years Arian Foster/Michael Turner breakout guy.

Burleson has 80/1000/10

Jordy Nelson emerges as their #2 WR and has 80/1000/10 (wow, same as Burleson)

Ingram 1000 yds / 15 TDS

Calvin 90/1500/16

Mendy 1300/16

Kendricks 70/900/12

Drew Brees does not finish as a top 8 QB.

Dez Bryant is the fantasy WR to own in Dallas.

Ahmad Bradshaw is a top 10 PPR back, and the value of many drafts.

Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram, and Darren Sproles finish within 10 spots of each other in PPR scoring, and none in the top 20.

Fantasy Zombie Donald Driver remains the 2nd best WR in Green Bay, AGAIN.

Danny Woodhead scores more PPR points than BenJarvus Green-Ellis.

Philip Rivers is a top 2 Fantasy QB.

Michael Turner finishes outside of the top 20 in PPR Scoring.

The Kansas City Chiefs do not have a top 10 fantasy player at any position.

Rashard Mendenhall leads the league in Touchdowns.

Peyton Manning either retires or is put on IR. The Bengals release Palmer after he shows up, so that they don't have to pay that much money. Palmer signs a 1 year deal with the Colts and takes snaps from Jeff Saturday this year!

ETA:

If it's not Carson Palmer it will be Brett Favre.

1) Donovan McNabb has a great comeback year and leads the Vikings to a wildcard slot
I could see them battling for a wildcard spot
2) The Chiefs bomb and finish with a losing record
not a reach
3) The Bills surprise us with a winning record with Fitzpatrick lighting it up
Doubt it
4) The Patriots under-perform
It like saying AP will have a down year by rushing for 1300 yds and 10 TDs, Still pretty damn good
5) Shanahan gets fired in mid-season
LOL
6) Tarvaris Jackson is better than we thought
If he finishes as the worst starting QB in the league at the end of the season he will has done better than I thought he would
7) The Titans bomb
Not nearly as bold as your previous 2 predictions
8) The "Dream Team" isn't
I think Vick plays less than 16 games but I think the Eagles are a playoff team
9) Cowboys make the playoffs
10) The 49ers are a train-wreck
see above. Nice read.

1)Detroit in Playoffs via wildcard spot.

2)Bears finish 4th in their division and Lovie keeps his job.

3)Danario Alexander #1 WR in STL

4)Tampa wins their divison

5)CLeveland misses the playoffs with a winning record

6)P Manning misses the 2011 season

7) Roy Williams 2011 stats inline with FBGs which is pathetic for what the Bears believe to be a #1 WR

8) Henne finishes as a top 20 QB

9) Randy Moss has a better stat line in 2011 than Roy Williams

10) Leon Washington will finish season as Seattle's top RB

3) Texans get to the AFC Championship.

4) Arian Foster plays week 1, blows up, and never looks back... finishes as #1 RB.

5) Eagles miss the play-offs (no middle defense and O-line woes).

6) Peyton Manning misses the season... Colts miss the play-offs... Reggie Wayne is a WR3 (at best).

7) Chiefs come back to earth... finish 5-11.

8) Lee Evans averages ~20 yds/rec and hauls in 10+ TD's.

9) Madden Curse turns Montario Hardesty into a top-10 RB.

-my surprise team this year is Cleveland

-Foster is a bust and I complain all year long

-GB repeats

-49ers sign Garrard

-Gore gets hurt, Hunter becomes stud

-Denarius Moore or Little become WR2

-Evan Moore is a top 10 TE

-Knowshon has a good year, RB1 value

-Kerry Collins is a low end QB1

-Ingram 900 yds rush, 15 tds

Hera are mine...-Jets AND Steelers do not make the playoffs-Browns win 10 games and make the playoffs-Matt Flynn throws for over 2,000 yards-Bradford finishes in the top 3-Kendricks catches 70 balls-Lance Moore says hello to the top 5 WR club-Reggie Bush finishes in the top 10 (ppr) -Rashad Jennings finishes with over 1000yds and 10 TD's-Michael Jenkins has over 1000yds-Greg Little will be your best ROOKIE WR in 2011
THIS JUST IN....I SUCK

1. Houston makes the playoffs for the first time :football: But loses in its 1st playoff game. 2. Arian Foster repeats as the top rusher in the league.3. Julio Jones has a "disappointing" rookie season of only 900 yards and 5 TD's.4. Tampa Bay finishes with a losing record.5. Jets have a winning record but miss the playoffs.6. Arizona wins 10 games.7. Peyton misses 4 games and Indy misses the playoffs for the first time since 2001.8. The Raiders make the playoffs for the first time in 8 years.9. Chiefs win at most 6 games.10. An AFC team wins the superbowl but not the Pats, Steelers, Colts or Ravens. It will be the Chargers.
except for 6 and 10, this one looks pretty good

Round about this time of year, we usually have some fun with predictions for the forthcoming season. As ever, it's only interesting if predictions are bold. "Adrian Peterson finishes top 5 in rushing" is not a bold prediction. "Wayne Chrebet comes out of retirement and leads the league in receptions" would be.

Anyway, here are my 10 bold predictions for 2011:

1) Donovan McNabb has a great comeback year and leads the Vikings to a wildcard slot

McNabb has had his fair share of bad press but the fact remains that he put up superb numbers with the Eagles (check out his regular season INT % - one of the lowest in NFL history) and consistently took them to the post-season. That was often, although not always, with pretty average receivers. Sure, he had a terrible year last year but a) look at his horrific supporting cast and b) there seems to have been some really weird, neurotic thing going on with the Shanahans.

I say McNabb passes for 4000+ yards pass and leads the Vikings to a more than respectable 10-6 finish, enough for a wildcard.

2) The Chiefs bomb and finish with a losing record

Sure, they won the division last year and sure Cassel put up very impressive numbers. However, that was against an easy-peasy schedule (only 2 opponents with winning records) and with a now-departed coaching genius as his offensive coordinator. I say with Charlie Weis gone, it all goes horribly wrong, Haley reverts to type and becomes the hapless former golf coach he is, and the Chiefs finish 6-10 or 7-9.

3) The Bills surprise us with a winning record with Fitzpatrick lighting it up

I thought Fitzpatrick did really well last year and with some really promising young WRs (Johnson, Nelson, Easley) I think the Bills take the next step. Chan Gailey has done an awesome job so far and I think this year the Bills finish with a winning record, despite their still leaky D.

4) The Patriots under-perform

All I've heard this week has been about how they're going 15-1 or 14-2 or whatever. I don't buy it. They just brought in two complete headcases and the fact is, although they did amazingly last year, it was basically with smoke and mirrors. They did it with a very limited pass rush, very limited WRs, very raw LBs and very average RBs who really over-achieved. I think they get found out a bit this year. They'll still finish 11-5 or thereabouts but it won't be plain sailing.

5) Shanahan gets fired in mid-season

Has anyone noticed the remarkable similarity between Mike Shanahan, the genius former Broncos coach who won 2 SBs, and Mike Shanahan, the idiot Redskins coach? Are these guys related? Separated at birth? Shanahan's tenure has been a trainwreck and I can't believe Rex Grossman to Jabar Gaffney is going to be a winning formula. Some coaches get better with age. Others get more stubborn or more senile. Shanahan is not improving with age. He's gone after the Skins open 2-8.

6) Tarvaris Jackson is better than we thought

Everyone's been pulling their hair out about the T-Jax acquisition but in limited relief for Favre last year he looked quite confident and showcased a great arm. I'm going to stick my neck out and say he does better than expected.

7) The Titans bomb

Their lead WR is a headcase and has been in trouble with the law, Chris Johnson is holding out, they've got a rookie coach, their new veteran QB is exceedingly fragile, their new rookie QB is very erratic and inaccurate, how is this one not going to end in tears?

8) The "Dream Team" isn't

I will make a small wager that Michael Vick plays fewer than half the snaps in 2011. He's just too injury-prone now. And the Eagles' revamping of their D appears to have completely ignored their appalling LB corps. It'll be all pass-rush and coverage and no tackling and they'll get run over.

9) Cowboys make the playoffs

I say Garrett is a good coach and he has a fundamentally very good team that just got a bit lost last year. With good discipline and with Romo, Austin, Witten, Bryant et al back in the groove and with a refocused D they go a good 10-6 or 11-5.

10) The 49ers are a train-wreck

Harbaugh was the most coveted coach in the land but he has had no time to prepare his team, their star HB is holding out, their star WR has injury problems, and Alex Smith is not the answer at QB. Could get messy.
1. XXX...Vikings 3-12....McNabb 1000 yards, 4 TDs.2. Good call, but not that bold. Few expected much out of the Chiefs.

3. XXX...Looked like a winner, but crash and burned after big contract.

4. XXX...Patriots #1 seed.

5. Correct, but who really thought the skins were any good.

6. XXX...13 TD, 12 INT

7. Semi-correct...7-8 isn't good, but not too far off what people expect.

8. Best prediction of the bunch...Dream team clearly was a disappointment

9. Might still be correct, but not that bold. Dallas has a good nucleus.

10. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX...SF exceeded everyone's expectations.

At least, I got one right. #6 also looks good.

Not really. No stats are worse than Peyton's rookie stats. I was closer on #9.
