Breaking Bad on AMC (3 Viewers)

Another awesome episode. Does Lydia live in new Mexico? So she was helping supply the chemicals?

14 shows to go, no idea who the machine gun is for. But I think everyone dies in the end.

Hope we can stop with the "Walt cares about Jesse" stuff. What a dirtbag.
Don't really see how that scene changed anything.
You're right, it's always been that way.
You never did come up with an explanation on how saving Jesse from those dealers was in Walt's own best interest.
I was in the 'Walt doesn't love Jesse like a son' camp (as someone upthread claimed). But there is no denying in that moment, Walt stepped up for the kid so Jesse wouldn't have to live with what he was about to do. That said, 99% of the time, Walt comes first.
Not to get into this again, but a great deal of the "Roomba" (or whatever it's called) bit was on Jesse's behalf. It was Jesse that was worried that he'd lost it and would feel responsible if someone picked it up and smoked it.I'm not even really sure the whole charade did any good for Walt. I don't think it makes it any less likely that Jesse would figure it out. "Lost for good" vs. "sucked up by the Roomba" really makes no difference. The charade exposed him a bit.Actually, when Jesse first started crying, I was positive he'd figured out the truth. I still feel like he did and just didn't say it. Walt suggests looking in a place Jesse had already looked and it suddenly shows up? It could happen, but I could where that smells a little fishy to Jesse.

Totally out-of-left-field question: did you guys get the impression that Schuler was eating chicken nuggets or tater tots in the beginning? There seems to be some dissension about it on another board.

Here are the sauces he dipped:

Honey mustard

half French dressing/half Ranch dressing

Cajun kick-ass

Smoky Mesquite BBQ

Ketchup

Now, if they had left ketchup off the plate, chicken nuggets would be the easy answer. But who dips chicken nuggets in ketchup. :X OTOH, ketchup is GREAT for tater tots, but not so much with those other dips.

Verdict?

In the beginning chicken. With a closer look tots.
Yes - definitely tots. The disc shaped kind, not your traditional barrel shape.
Thirded. And btw, my wife eats chicken tenders (pretty much the same as nuggets) with Ketchup.
I thought they were nuggets at first. I'll have go back and check the game tape. And nuggets with ketchup is a perfectly fine combo, preferably with some hot sauce mixed in.

Thought the Roomba was the perfect cover story.Jesse hadn't checked it for a week, it probably runs 24/7 , covers lots of nooks and crannies, and Jesse's place is an absolute mess.

He buried it in the roomba, too. No way Jesse is the least bit suspicious. Hank, otoh, just wised up and we are off and running. That one look was all they gave us but it was unmistakable and just a moment's thought will reveal how many coincidences there have been with Walt.

First, it took me a couple of viewings to feel reasonably confident that what Walt does is to hide the real Chekhov's Ricin behind an electrical socket (in case he ever needs it again without having the time or resources to make a new batch of ricin), while the one he and Jesse find inside the Roomba is a fake one to give Jesse peace of mind.
What? It took him "a couple of viewings" to figure that out? Was he folding laundry and not watching the TV or something???

Guys I forgot some of the stuff from last season. Help me out here, Jessie thought that he left the cigarette with the Ricin in the hands of the kid who smoked it and got sick. In reality the kid got sick from those plants right? Does Jessie know that it was the plants and not the Ricin? Refresh me a bit

Never have a woman over when Breaking Bad is on. Major got the  face for giving said woman the Heisman during the opening scene. Guppy move on my part but I still put that a to sleep.

No kidding.It was pretty straight-forward.

almost got :pickle: thinking a Gus flashback was going to happen when dude was  in the boardroom

Walt poisoned the kid with the plant. Jesse thinks it was a random accident. He also thinks he lost the cigarette but doesn't know how or where and was freaking out because he was worries an innocent person could find it and get exposed to the ricin.

Huh? Lydia isn't in ABQ?
I thought they made it quite obvious with the Geto Boys reference
The what? I think she's local.
I first thought she was Gus's accountant/bookkeeper, now I am not sure
She works for Madrigal. She was in the DEA office with the Germans.
Definitely Houston. Google is your friend for my uniformed music friends. Even Sepinwall agrees.

Some of us really aren't up on our Geto Boys. I still don't know what H-town refers to.
Could only be Houston, I assume. What other h is there?
H-town typically refers to Hartford, Connecticut, but that's not where she's from. She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, grew up in Henderson, Nevada, attended college in Huntsville, Alabama, then lived in Huntington Beach, California for a while. Her current residence is unknown.

Jesse knew it was Lily of the Valley plant berries that poisoned the kid, not the ricin beans ( :lmao: @ that line). The doctor explained that Lily of the Valley poisonings are somewhat common with kids because the plant grows in the area and kids come across it sometimes and try the berries not knowing better. Jesse probably thinks that's what happened at this point.

I was thinking California from the get-go, based on the Paris Hilton looking shades and what she was ordering at the diner...chamomile tea, something inaudible to me that sounded very artisan, soy milk instead of dairy, stevia (and the fact that she carried her own)...It all came across as So Cal rich-trendy-snobbish...Could H town = Hollywood?eta: I dont know what the Geto Boys reference was, or if/how "H-town" even ties into the episode, Im only making this assumption based on someone in this thread mentioning H-Town....that said, when she started ordering at the diner I instantly thought she was from (or living in) Southern California, but I was actually thinking more Beverly Hills or Malibu or somewhere like that...seems cafes out there would have all that crap she was ordering...but her house seemed to have a NM feel and look to it.

I noticed that after tasting each of the sauces he continued eating the chicken, but without any sauce.
And I think that's the give away that it's chicken. You can't take tot after tot like that without something to drink... especially without a condiment of somekind. And those are pretty exotic dipping sauces for just a tot. Cajun kick-###?

I liked the speech the chief gave to Hank and his partner about not Frings and their relationship. Contrasted beautifully with Hank and Walt's relationship. Hank's reaction at the end of that speech is interesting, like a look of recognition.
Probably the most significant moment of the shoe.
The family barbeques will never be the same now
It looks like Merkert's career is killed because of his relationship with Fring. Hank has to be wondering that if Walt is his man, then what might happen to him.I expect Hank's intial reaction to be 'nah..it couldn't be...could it?"

Yup. You could just see it. Here the whole time I'm thinking either the gray haired guy or the partner are in on it. Watching for that, and suddenly the stillness of Hank's expression after he takes another drink say's it all.

I don't think we can assume Hank suspects Walt based on one facial expression. If and when Hank ever suspects Walt, it shouldn't take him too long to confirm it.

I remember Cho now. Got it.One last question - had we seen Chris before?
The driver for Gus.For those who watch it live there is a great site from AMC called something like breakingbadinsync.com that gives you little facts, reminders, polls, videos, and quiz questions the entire hour, pretty cool.

I agree. It seems like a set up moment that leads to him finding out. Maybe he asks Jr some leading questions but gets no where. It still nags at him so he talks to Syler. That would be a great scene. How is Mike going to work, he is going to have intense police scutiny.

I think, at first, he'll try to rule it out. When he can't rule it out, he'll start to take that "crazy" thought seriously.
