Hurricane Sandy (2 Viewers)

Christie presser right now, just admonished AC mayor for telling people to stay in the city. Says rescue efforts not possible until tomorrow morning
No love lost between these guys...I'm paraphrasing here: "Mayor Langford, who for some reason told people it was safe to stay in the city...for those of you who decided it was better to stay or the elected officials who suggested people stay, it is now your responsibility. It's too dangerous and we can't send any rescuers in the dark. Urging those of you if you can hear us to get to higher ground and hunker down until morning, because it is now too late"I'd be ####ting myself if I was in AC right now and just heard that.

Code Red. Code Red.

I have just finished the last of my beef jerky rations. Still have a couple cans of Pringles, and a bag of mini oreos.
Any relatives you aren't fond of staying with you?
:lmao: I am stocked up on water, but I did a horrible job of stocking up on food. Cooking some spaghetti now. I have no way of cooking if the power goes out, which stinks. I live in a condo. Can't have a grill.
CAMP STOVE FTWHave a single burner unit in my emergency supplies with 2 tanks of propane ready to go.
You must have a jeep
:lmao:

Generally cloudy; Cold; Snow showers and flurries increasing late today and tonight; NW wind 25-35 mph with gusts to 80 mph (even stronger at above 5200') 8"-14" for 4500'+ elevations near the TN/NC line ("blizzard" is not an understatement for 5000-foot-land).
Yuck. Will miss out on the fun in person but probably will need to go chase down the grill and deck furniture after this is over.eta - Beech Mt NC forecast.

Wait. Where's The_Man? Along with roadkill and James Daulton (where the hell is HE, come to think of it), there's only about 4 regular Ravens posters (shut up, yinzers).
I've been following this thread throughout the day, just haven't posed. Here in Catonsville, power's still on, rain is heavy, but not crazy. Got my gennie ready to go, plenty of gas, snacks, etc. The worst part is I gave up booze last Sunday for a month. I'm actually getting ready to go downstairs and workout. I'd rather be getting yucky watching storm coverage. Good luck to all!

Christie pissed at AC mayor, apparently told folks to stay in their house
And he has them in a shelter a block from the water which has flooded. Also gave the President a huge shout out. Conspiracy theory perhaps he does this so Obama wins in 2012, thus helping Christie '16. But it is nice to see some reaching across the aisle, just not in AC.

He really didn't hold back. I like his style.

great reaction by Christie
I don't know about that. I agree with what he's saying but its not a tone of leadership. He seems more chafed about HE being dissed than the situation. The problem is the problem and it needs solving, not fingerpointing
He is solving it. He said there isn't anything they can do now, tomorrow morning they'll be out first thing for anyone. Nothing he can do now. And I can't blame him, I'd be just as upset and it takes a much better man to have someone specifically disobey you and then go help them. Heck, I'd send a boat to them in a week. Lights starting to flicker...

I thought it was a huge tacit endorsement of Obama myself. Very over the top congratuatory of him

Seems as good a time as any for some roof work.

ETA: I would love to hit the disco with Bloomberg's ASL chick. She's got moves.

Some idiot who was jogging in NYC got hit by a falling tree. Who goes jogging when the city is in lock down? Crane's are falling and this guy goes jogging.

Yeah, I'm not a huge conspirator, I like to think its just human nature and disasters bring Americans together. Obama really has done all that has been asked and Christie acknowledged that. Perhaps our politicians are learning to play together or at least realizing that politicizing this will just anger the electorate.

Seriously concerned, i have trees all around me and they are whipping around like crazy
Get the things you need, get into a bathroom or other windowless room, sit in the dark, and take a few deep breaths for a few minutes and relax as much as possible. You've done what you can to prepare, now you just wait it out for awhile.

I agree, and I don't think there is anything beyond it. But he sounded more convincing in 30 seconds putting Obama over than he's sounded in the last 6 months advocating for Mitt.
