New Orleans Saints at Philadelphia Eagles - Wild Card Game (1 Viewer)

Feels good to finally get the road postseason win. We can stop talking about it. Very happy with the win and maybe I don't even care if Seattle beats the snot out of us again.

Good game.

NFC East was historically bad this year and Philly really looking like the only team on the upswing headed into next season.

The Saints won but have to travel to Seattle, that will not be pretty and the run game you saw tonight will be non existent next week.

Make the kick, suddenly you can win on the road and in the cold. Miss and you're still incapable.

Huge win. On par with St Louis 2000, Minnesota 2009.

GG Philly, really impressive season! I'm just glad the Saints got this far with the injuries in the secondary this season. Going from the worst defense last year to top 5 ypg this season is pretty nuts. I just wish Payton would stick to the run like this game.

#### YOU ALEX HENERY! CUT THAT MOTHER####ER RIGHT NOW!
What about the racist? If he makes that easy catch, he runs for 40 yards. Whole different game.
Well he is a free agent so we can't cut him. But he had 800 yards and 8 TDs. Cutting Henery isn't a knee jerk reaction but something that has been brewing amongst us fans all year. His leg isn't strong and at least last year he was accurate.

I will say that N.O. Fans are class acts and I hope you win it all. Good luck.
x2. Good game.
Eagles fans in here have been very classy as well. After listening to so many arrogant A holes on sports radio, it's refreshing to come in here to see such a knowledgable set of fans.
Yea, we that one bad apple spoils a bunch kind of deal here. The guys here definitely a good group that know their ####. My girlfriend thinks Brees is awesome, so I hope you guys take it down now. GL!

That's a nice road win by NO. Eagles gave the game away at home, didn't capitalize when it counted. Good playoff battle.

Wasn't expecting a win, but when's it's there for the taking it's tough to take. All things considered, great season Eagles.

Payton could barely get a word out when asked "how gratifying is this win after not being able to coach last season". Literally stumbled over words, said "fine, next question" and shot the guy a glare. I don't think it's an out of line question.

Here's a position breakdown as the New Orleans Saints get set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles in their NFC wild-card playoff game Saturday night.

Defensive line/pass rushers: I'm including Junior Galette and Trent Cole is this mix even thought both are listed as linebackers.

Galette and Cam Jordan have become one of the more dangerous pass rushing duos the NFL is just starting to learn about as they've combined for 24½ sacks this season. Something tells me they will knock around Foles once or twice Saturday.

Cole leads the Eagles with eight sacks, but there hasn't been much help along the front line creating a pass rush. Philly has been solid against the run, ranking ninth, but the Saints only allow seven more yards per game so the difference isn't all too dramatic.

Edge: Saints

Secondary: New Orleans ranks second in pass defense. Philadelphia ranks last in pass defense. It's not all on the secondaries as the Saints have better pass rushers than the Eagles. But a lot of it is on the secondaries.

Edge: Saints
That's some lazy ### analysis right
And I will also say that I will not be confident in our winning this game until after it is over, due to the scar of the last playoff game, where the Saints held the ball for almost the entire final 11 minutes.
Well that didn't help.

Maybe he's a doosh?

It's possible every question he fielded during the week was the same. And none of them had anything to do with this game. A couple road losses don't make a trend.

Cool man. I just try and be realistic when I can and hope I don't piss anyone off. Saints fans were great all week to chat with, been a good thread.

What an amazing game.

Eagles fans - Congratulations on a great season and winning the division title. What a year for you, Foles, McCoy, Jackson, Cooper, improving defense, the tight ends, terrific young team. Exciting team, really fun to watch, I don't think this is the last time our teams will be meeting in the postseason in the next few years.

The Saints have had several franchise benchmarks against the Eagles, first franchise win, 2nd playoff win and 1st playoff win under Payton, now first road playoff win in 47 seasons - maybe this was fitting. I can't imagine how much money I would have bet on the Eagles gaining more rushing yards tonight. What a performance by the Saints line and Ingram, just inspiring.

I watched this game at a wedding reception tonight. Irish Italian families, the kind of people that watch Saints games together with beer, bbq, spaghetti, crawfish you name it. They were so confident that the Saints would win the division that they put their daughter's wedding on the night of the first playoff weekend. I don't know how many saints and angels they had on their side tonight but it was a lot, I'm glad it worked out as good kismet for the marriage. I was glued to the set the whole night. With Graham's kick I turned around and there were 200 people behind me, the whole place erupted, we ended up getting down to an awesome brass funk band and 2nd-lining to the Saints Go Marching In. Night's not over either

Good luck next year, Eagles.

This was a nail biter, 2 points is a close one. Props to the Eagles on a great season. Good luck to you guys next year, you have a great rebuilding franchise there with Chip Kelly at the helm.

Nail biter. If that would have been Hartley going for the game winner I would have been able to turn suppository coal into diamonds.

Tough game coming up against Seattle, but the Saints will have game film and a pretty good idea of what Seattle wants to do on offense/defense.

Really hoping for a Saints/Panthers rematch in the championship game, but Seattle is obviously the best team in the NFC (especially at home).

Not looking forward to the game thread. For a team that has won as many Superbowls as the Jaguars, Seattle fans are awfully chirpy.

Yep. Next week will be insufferable. I say we just enjoy the 'cold, road' monkey we just got off our back.

We've got our championship and now the stupid road win. It's time to play spoiler.

We may or may not score on that drive. We came back and took the lead after that play. 3 pts were not scored because of henery.
Not to mention his total inability to even get a kick off into the endzone let alone out of the endzone. Just brutal! And in his 48 yard attempt it wasn't even close! The league now grows free agent kickers that have the range to hit 60 yards and to kick the ball into the stands. This shYt bird can't come close and was actually drafted in round 4!!

Other than that I'm cool with the loss except the cheap FG they allowed at the end of the first half playing prevent defense.

Seriosly they need to cut the bum and put that mistake behind us. What did fatman see in this guy to waste not only a pick but a 4th on a kicker.

Congrats Saints fans on a tough road playoff win. As I expected the lack of pass rush from the front was the Eagles downfall more so than a missed field goal or a dropped pass. This has to be aggressively addressed in the offseason

Yeah don't mean to pile on about henery but I will. He's a sack of #####. Akers is 55 years old and still consistently kicks it thru the back of the end zone on kick offs. Honestly is there a team out there that has to contend with returns from the five every KO? The Foles sack to move them out of his range hurt, but I put just as much blame on his ###-tactic range. Get any FA kicker out there with 60 yard range and get rid of that fourth round abortion.

Well here are the two worst Saints fans, this we can be sure of. "I know what a Championship team looks like" shtick is pretty solid stuff, you know...because you guys won a Super Bowl once and you're the expert.

Last time these two teams played everything was great between the fan bases, only you two snippy #####es were problematic.

Uh, ok. What I said is true. The Seahawks definitely look like a championship squad. This Saints team doesn't. Not sure what problem you have with that. We may put up a fight and even win, but it would be a shock.

Id also like to thank the refs for staying out of the way yesterday. Good game by them I thought.
For the most part I agree the one play I still don't understand is the penalty call on Cox for holding. I agree the call was right but there was no flag on the field and they didn't throw it till Brees pointed and started yelling when Sproles was under Cox. As for the game it was a good game that could have gone either way. The missed FG hurt but Foles taking another horrible sack didn't help. I also think the Eagles have to add a OLB this offseason who can get to the Qb Cole just isn't consistent enough and he is only getting older. One last thing my biggest worry going in was Chung stuck on one on one coverage and again he got beat on a deep pass against the Saints 4th or 5th weapon.
