Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread: Kings win 2nd Cup in 3 seasons (1 Viewer)

I think most of us have to be Hawks fans now. An LAK/NYR final would be pretty boring and bogged down although a great goal tending match up.

Henrik stole that one. Montreal brought it. Tokarski played well. That nash shot is in on most goalies.

Now, as any rangers fan will tell you, they will lose the two home games because nothing comes easy

Yep. Easy to watch that game and blame the absence of Price, but that wasn't it. That was something much different. Love watching stuff like that. Trade you Rask for Lundqvist?

Jinxy!
How excited were you to bump that post?
About as excited as I am to read your most comical posts. Since none of those ever happen, you do the math LHUCKS.
Help me out Doc, math isn't my thing... Keep calling me LHUCKS though. Just like Drummer, MoP, & some other respected posters call me.

Yeah, you've mentioned that before. Now you're being both obtuse and humorless. That's the daily double!!!!!

LHUCKS always jinxed his own bets, I found it funny. Sorry you didn't get it sweetie.

Rangers just played better IMO, all the shot blocks and the forecheck was superb. They didn't dominate, but they didn't have to with Henrik playing that way. I thought Habs would come out on fire, but that quick Rags goal after Montreal scored snatched all the momentum away just like that. Pretty impressive.

Not to put the cart before the horse, but these Stanley Cup Finals tickets are going to be ridiculously expensive (should they get there)...

Worst seats in the garden are $760 and you need binoculars in those... Decent seats are $2500... Even center ice top deck are $1500 a seat.

Just got game 6 corner 200s 13th row for $1400 each. I'm not putting the cart before the horse by any means, but I'm not ####in missing this either....just in case.

Nothing new. Scalpers were getting 500-1,000 bucks for blue seats last time around and that was 20 years ago. I showed up with $200 and hoped for a miracle. Ended up spending it on booze at the Blarney Rock.

I say this understanding full well that the series is no where near over, but if the Rangers do move on:

Holy cow, I could pay for half of my season sub selling one game.

But I wont because who knows how many times they will make it***

*** if they make it

Great game by Hank. He was superb.

Tokarski played well enough to win - although I thought he got over a bit slow for the Nash goal which was shot at the center of the net (you know it wouldn't have gotten by Hank).

The great generalization: I've come to the realization that Hab fans are major whiners. Had to laugh when one of the Hab players tripped over his own feet and the fans were screaming for a penalty. Any hit it was the same thing. The refs did let one go in the third when two Rangers basically mugged a Hab in front of the Ranger net. I'm pretty sure they got his lunch money.

Interesting interview: One of the Rangers said they were specifically trying not to turn the puck over at the offensive blue line because the Canadiens are a really good counterpunch team.

Noticed that with the Bruins. You can dominate play, and then the counter attack happens and you're dead.

So cool hockey strategy. I think it was Dorsett that commented on that. Good stuff.

Second goal should have been stopped - as you said Tokarski was slow moving over there. Easy save for Price.

The fans are no different than any other home fans. When they get the sense that penalties are favouring one team (aka the Visitors) they holler at everything. And it is laughable at times, but it's not like it doesn't happen in NY or Philly or Chicago. And the penalty call against Galchenyuk - when St. Louis scored - was a bogus call so the fans were a bit on edge after that.

Easy to see it in effect too. The Ranger defensemen will almost always shoot the puck along the boards if there is a defender in front of them. I noticed that the Rangers D only had two shots where the shot could have been blocked up close. Montreal had ca. 8 shots like that - although about 3-4 of those shots were by someone who shoots the puck 110 mph, so that does alter the idea a bit. If you're a forward who gets hit by a 110 mph slapshot, chances are you're not going to be making a play on the counter.

There is some truth to what you say, but last night it went to ridiculous proportions. The fans were definitely wayyyy over the top with their screaming for penalties.

he's talking about entering the zone.

and that's always a bad place to turn the puck over, not just against the Rangers. you don't turn it over there, you get it deep. every coach preaches that.

Probably makes sense. Personally, I feel the Rangers shoot the puck in too often. Especially on the PP. Would be nice if they could skate the puck in while on the man advantage more often than they do..

Montreal fans always cheer when they see a perceived penalty against. and if it's not called they boo. always. every rink in the league fans complain about calls...well, the ones that get into it at least. if you want to rip Montreal, rip them for trying to put Chara in jail.

Vanek, SHOOT THE PUCK!!!

Cherry said "his head is already in Minnesota" :)

He's a frustrating player to watch, Sometimes it looks like he'd rather be anywhere - even Minnesota - than at a hockey game. Has moments of greatness but he's been invisible for most of the playoffs.

YES!!! I MADE THE THREAD TITLE!!!

Seriously though, we're all gamblers here. That ticket is 5k IF they make it. If not, money comes back.

Had no idea you were a Rangers fan. Rangers and Pantera :tebow:

The Bruins have to be  for losing to this merry little band of try-hard Rudy scrubs.
Montreal was built to beat the Bruins... that was their goal (sort of their Stanley Cup) Unfortunately, they have now become the Bruins (minus the 15 hit posts) as they can't handle the Rangers speed and forecheck and the Montreal D keep getting turned...

The only thing keeping Montreal close is the Rangers' proclivity for defensive zone turnovers...they are so careless with the puck
