Just started today and going slower than usual. Lots of trade talk and offers. I have the 1.02 and 1.04 picks. Had 4 offers for the 1.02 and about 5 for the 1.04

1.01 R.Bush

1.02 D.Williams

1.03 L.Maroney

1.04 J.Addai

1.05 Lendale White

1.06 Vince Young

1.07 Matt Leinart

1.08 Santonio Holmes

1.09 Chad Jackson

1.10 Jay Cutler

1.11 Vernon Davis

1.12 Sinorice Rice

2.1 Brody Croyle

2.2 Pass

2.3 Devin Hester

2.4 Kellen Clemens

2.5 Pass

2.6 Greg Jennings

2.7 Jerious Norwood

I went with Deangelo because he tore it up on a crappy team with the other teams always out to stop him. Lesser competition I know, but kind of reminded me of Marshall. I like Maroney, but following Big10 football, Minnesota seems to get production out of any back they throw in there. That scared me away. He's also been injured, but so has Deangelo so that didn't make a big difference. I wanted Addai very badly since I have Rhodes and Mungro currently. I took a gamble but figured the 1.03 pick would take Deangelo if I didn't and would take Maroney before Addai, worked out well for me. :boxing:

I will update as it goes. Pretty Standard Scoring league with the exception that TE's are no different than WR's so there value is very low minus Gates and Gonzo.

What do you guys think of just the RB rankings of the guys after White?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Norwood,Calhoun,Drew and Harrison in that order. I could see switching Drew and Calhoun only time will tell on that wait till camps are done.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I agree. Norwood is probably in the best situation. Calhoun is a pass catching RB, and Drew is just too small I don't care how much he weighs he can't handle a full season.

Wow, do all the other teams have great stables of RBs? RB2 going at 1.06 is very strange from what I've seen. You getting both Maroney and White with pics 1.06 and 1.08 are steals IMO. Addai at 1.10!!!

How aout PJ Daniels out of Georgia Tech? Balt took him a few picks before Clev took Harrison. He should have some value backing up Lewis.

The owner that picked #3 drafted Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown last year. That said, I was still suprised to see him take Holmes that early, considering he traded up to make that pick.

Quite a few gomers from this board:

gates was #3 OVERALL in this scoring system last season...
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I took Maroney at 1.04 and would been elated to land Davis there.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
 I think everyone wanted Davis. I had no chance with the 1.07 in this league.FWIW, as Magaw mentioned, Gates was #3, and 7 of the top 40 scorers were TEs.

Add to that, you start 0-2 RBs, and you'll see a lot different draft here than in most leagues.

ETA - I just drafted LenDale White to go with Portis and Ronnie Brown. Great trio in most leagues.

Seems like Leinart is almost always going ahead of Young or Cutler.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
He should be, he dropped into the best situation of the three and by a fair bit. Playing behind an injury prone QB, a pair of great young WRs, Edge, Denny pumping the offense. And he was the most pro ready of the 3.

While I have Leinart #1 among QBs, I don't think James is a huge factor in this. James turns 28 this year. Assuming Leinart takes over in 2007, he may have a productive James for his first year or two. That will help Leinart early on, but he probably won't be a top fantasy QB those two years even with James. Leinart won't have James when he enters his prime.

Should start in a day or two:

BAFL Link

I'll edit with the first round when thats done.  I traded my 1.02/3.02 for DBrees and the 1.09.  I figure on getting a solid IDP with my pick. (Update - The trade ended up being:

-Gave up rookie picks 1.02 (Vernon Davis) and 3.02 (Tamba Hali)

-Got Drew Brees and Rookie pick 1.09 (LenDale White)

With comments, will update:
Code:
1.01	Bush, Reggie NOS RB (R)  Shouldn't be a huge surprise. Despite where he went and all the crap about his size, the guy has too much upside to let him get by.1.02	Davis, Vernon SFO TE (R)  The only player I really wanted other than Bush. I think he could be lights out in this scoring for a long time. He is why I traded up.1.03	Williams, DeAngelo CAR RB (R)  With Foster on my squad, Williams moved up a couple of spots.1.04	Addai, Joseph IND RB (R)  This is pretty much a no-brainer at #4.1.05	Leinart, Matt ARI QB (R)  1.06	Maroney, Laurence NEP RB (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List1.07	Hawk, A.J. GBP LB (R)  This is a hard pick but I need help at LB so I'll go with the top one in the draft.1.08	Williams, Mario HOU DE (R)  With the scoring in this leauge, Mario Williams is my man! I also see that this is ending up on FBG, and I just want to say HI MOM!1.09	White, LenDale TEN RB (R)  I was hoping for Hawk or Williams, but the last of the top tier RBs (although a little risky) will do1.10	Cutler, Jay DEN QB (R)  This should raise a few eyebrows. I need Qbs. It's the one glaring weakness of this team. I was targeting Leinart, but in the long run my gut tells me Cutler winds up the best QB from this class. Young has too many questions....1.11	Huff, Michael OAK S (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List1.12	Clemens, Kellen NYJ QB (R)  2.01	Lewis, Marcedes JAC TE (R)  need a pass catching TE ~2.02	Young, Vince TEN QB (R)  Being I've got McNair and Volek I didn't want to miss out on Young.2.03	Jackson, D'Qwell CLE LB (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List2.04	Jackson, Tarvaris MIN QB (R)  The last QB I like, and I think I can get one of my other targets later. This guy has huge upside and the Vikings really like him, and with Brad Johnson getting up in age, he will get a chance to compete soon. Very tough decision.2.05	Greenway, Chad MIN LB (R)  Grabbing my #2 LB after AJ Hawk...2.06	Holmes, Santonio PIT WR (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List2.07	Jackson, Chad NEP WR (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List2.08	Pope, Leonard ARI TE (R)  2.09	Moss, Sinorice NYG WR (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List2.10	Sims, Ernie DET LB (R)  Thought about trading up to get him, but then jet-lag knocked me to the curb before I could even negotiate... glad I didn't.2.11	Lawson, Manny SFO LB (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List2.12	Calhoun, Brian DET RB (R)  New coach. New OC. Possible threat to KJ. Have to take him here to lock up one of my guys primary backups.3.01	Scheffler, Tony DEN TE (R)  I could use another option at TE given the scoring. Guy is supposed to be pretty athletic with good size and hands. We know Denver likes to use the TE.3.02	Hali, Tamba KCC DE (R)  I considered Hali with my 2nd round pick when I took Tarvaris Jackson. Glad he is here, he is really the only DE I like beyond Mario, as I think he can be an every down DE.3.03	Croyle, Brodie KCC QB (R)  Wanted Hall, but Croyle's been on my list since the Chiefs took him. A solid backup for my Green.3.04	Drew, Maurice JAC RB (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List3.05	Wimbley, Kamerion CLE DE (R)  3.06	Carpenter, Bobby DAL LB (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List3.07	Whitner, Donte BUF S (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List3.08	Klopfenstein, Joe STL TE (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List3.09	Kiwanuka, Mathias NYG DE (R)  I considered a couple other players here, but figured I would get another DE, and Strahans possible successor.3.10	Washington, Leon NYJ RB (R)  3.11	Ryans, DeMeco HOU LB (R)  3.12	Dilfer, Trent SFO QB	Pick made based on Pre-Draft List4.01	Bunkley, Brodrick PHI DT (R)  4.02	Jennings, Greg GBP WR (R)  Well this looks like another homer pick, but I've got this guy as the 4th wr in the draft, he maybe the #3 wr, and my wr's are old.4.03	Adeyanju, Victor STL DE (R)  4.04	Manning, Danieal CHI S (R)  This could be a great value pick if Manning starts, because of his return abilities.4.05	Wilson, Travis CLE WR (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List4.06	McIntosh, Roger WAS LB (R)  Well the Redskins traded up 18 spots in the draft to get this guy so I'll take a shot at him.4.07	Allen, Jason MIA CB (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List4.08	Stovall, Maurice TBB WR (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List4.09	Norwood, Jerious ATL RB (R)  Pick made based on Pre-Draft List4.10	Bullocks, Daniel DET S (R)  4.11	Hodge, Abdul GBP LB (R)  He could push for the MLB in GB, although his value is hurt a little since they also drafted Hawk. Am I the only one that thinks it's crazy that Addai is getting drafted ahead of Lendale White?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
In rookie drafts around August, I might take White. For now though, until/unless I hear very good things about him in camp, I am staying away. Too many red flags. I would take 4 RB's over him, 1 TE, and possibly 3 QB's. RB's are great in FF, but not if they don't play. It's not just (or even mainly) the weight. It's the rumors of coasting on talent, the lackadaisical attitude over the last two months, the (supposedly bogus) drug test rumors, etc.

Do you honestly believe that a guy could coast through on talent alone and have the kind of success that White has at USC and keep Reggie Bush off the field half the time? IMO, that is completly irrational.

Well, I think it's clear that he did "get by" on his talent while at USC. He is very talented, no question about that. But even before the combine it was pretty much accepted that he didn't like to work out. The very first line in the PFW Draft Guide about his negatives is "Has a soft body and does not like to train and condition." Later it states "Not a great worker."The questions are (1) will his talent alone allow him to be as successful at the NFL level if he doesn't change his work ethic? or (2) will he be required to change his work habits to be successful in the NFL? And if it's the latter, will he actually change his work habits?

A hamstring tear on a guy who doesn't like to work out is a red flag. Especially one who carries so much wieght whether he's in shape on not.

It does not look like Norm Chow agrees with your assessment or maybe more directly PFW's. I'm sure White does not have Jerry Rice like work ethic, but something gives me the impression that if he had never torn his hammy and woked out like the pundits wanted him to. We would not even be having this dicusion.

LHUCKS posted this in an earlier thread about White...

Cowherd was interviewing Titans' GM Floyd Reese and brought up the topic of the value that Lendale White appeared to be. Lloyd explained how Chow was a staunch supporter of White's and has said that "he's the most misunderstood player in this draft." Reese basically stated they took a chance on this kid based on Chow's insistance that the negative reports and unflattering workout days are not what this kid is about, nor do they reflect his ability to succeed at the next level.

Afterwards Cowherd summarized by saying, do you trust one day of workouts or do you trust Pac10 scoring records, NFL makeup and a coach that worked with the kid on a daily basis for two years that is putting his credibility on the line as a talent evaluator.

How do you know whether or not Chow agrees with PFW's assessment? For all we know Chow agrees with them completely but thinks that White still has the talent to overcome the negatives. PFW did say that he had top 10 talent. But we all know that top 10 talent doesn't always get you to where you want to go.Anyone that has seen what happened with him over the last two months and doesn't believe that it has any bearing whatsoever is truly in fantasyland.

Ask Maurice Clarett. He was one of the best college RB's...his freshman year & helped lead OSU to a national title. Who knows whether he 'coasted' on talent alone there, but it sure the hell was apparent he couldn't coast in the NFL.Just as someone has every right to say White will succeed in the NFL, someone else has legit reasoning to believe he'll fail.

http://football22.myfantasyleague.com/2006...ns?L=38156&O=17

1.01    Bush, Reggie NOS RB ®  R-E-G-G-I-E !!!!!!!!!!!!!

1.02  Maroney, Laurence NEP RB ®

1.03  Williams, DeAngelo CAR RB ®  WOW didn't think he would fall to me at #3. I really like L White but cannot give up on D Williams. With the Panthers O Line and fragile D Foster you gotto like D Williams will get some carries and TD's this season

1.04  Addai, Joseph IND RB ®  really pleased with how this played out.

1.05  White, LenDale TEN RB ®  Almost went another direction here, but in the end decided to go with the last top-tier RB. White has slipped quite a bit since the Rose Bowl and is a decent risk to bust, but I think he's ended up in a great situation Brown/Henry isn't exactly stiff competition and a reunion with Chow just might get his head in the right place.

1.06  Davis, Vernon SFO TE ®  Mon May 1 8:50:12 p.m. PT 2006  Sorry guys was on the road and just got home. Can't believe I got my man......

1.07  Leinart, Matt ARI QB ®

1.08  Young, Vince TEN QB ®  With Manning on board, I can afford to roll the dice on this guy. None of the IDP's warrant the 8th overall pick

1.09  Jackson, Chad NEP WR ®

1.10  Hawk, A.J. GBP LB ®  Too many question marks with the skill players at this point. This guy will be a stud for years.

1.11  Holmes, Santonio PIT WR ®  My #1 WR out of this draft, and since I need a productive receiver it's an easy pick to make.

1.12  Moss, Sinorice NYG WR ® Wanted one of the other top Wr's but S Moss is a decent WR and in NY should be a #3 already

1.13  Cutler, Jay DEN QB ®  May not help this season, but I think Cutler was just as good as the other QB's and with my 3rd 1st round pick in the draft I can take a project player.

1.14  Calhoun, Brian DET RB ®      He might be a reach here, but KJ has not exactly been setting the world on fire, and I need RB's. Since all the top ones are gone, I think Calhoun has a great shot in Detroit with Martz calling the shots.

1.15  Lewis, Marcedes JAC TE ®  whoopie for me

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
just checked this one out - cant believe M Williams dropped all the way to 21st pick in IDP.

Clarrett wasn't half the RB White was in college.
