Chad Johnson (1 Viewer)

I'm really asking why you wouldn't start someone like Bryant over him this week? I mean how many guys bounce back the next week after a hit like that? All week everything has been quite about him... and I'm worried to not have heard more.

Check out this video after the game:

I think CJ looks hurt too - not smiling, said his neck and shoulder is hurting and he is on a liquid diet.

Bryant's going to blow up this week

Well... I'm having a hard time relying on rankings anywhere. Across the net CJ was ranked top 5 this weekend. Not one sight mentioned the possibility of him being used as a decoy or not being the goto guy. I'm sticking with my gut from here on out.

I'd love to see a pic of a PIT CB w/a big white board with the title "WRs WHO ARE GOING TO BEAT ME THIS YEAR" on it and CJ's name with a big "NO" checked for Week 3

CJ is one of the most overrated "top tier WR" in fantasy football...
You may want to check the stats over the past three years.
Yeah... The TDs were never there (he only scored double digit TDs once in his career). As far as yards go, he was never consistant enough to help you week in and week out... I expect more from someone who's consistantly being ranked as the top WR in fantasy football.

Agree with HBK here.Someone above mentioned they didn't realize CJ would be used as the decoy and not the go-to guy. Since when has CJ really been the go-to guy? The only thing that makes him come off that way is that he's the only guy that's stayed healthy throughout the entirety of his career so far. When Housh has played the last two seasons CJ has outscored him by only 18 points in 15 games (using 10yds/point and 6pts/TD).

The numbers (15 games):

CJ: 1470yds, 7 TDs

Housh: 1110yds, 10 TDs

This is much more of a 1a and 1b than people give credit for. CJ is also lightyears, LIGHTYEARS behind the other top WRs in terms of "big games". I believe he has two multi-TD games in the last 3 years, whereas guys like Owens and Smith do that within a month or two.

To be fair, CJ always faces the top corners and is often double covered while the other guys generally have lesser talents covering them.

True, but looking down their schedule the last few years I see very few teams with much of a disparity between their CB1 and CB2 a la teams like Denver.

So you're proving the point, CJ is grossly overrated. For whatever reasons you want to come up with.Projecting him #1 FF WR, and having a career year (as FGB did) was without basis. Housh is a better big play WR then CJ, and Henry has more talent them both of them.

CJ is a glorified possession WR who talks smack. Yes he's a very solid WR, I'd be glad to have him. But people taking CJ in the top 15-20 overall this year was an utter joke.

I couldnt disagree more, I could try, but I would fail.

In our league Johnson finished as the #3 WR in 2005, as the #7 WR in 2004, and #3 WR in 2003...

:lmao:

Chad Johnson is like the 400th best receiver in the league this year. gb smart fantasy owners. he should be deep on the wire in all leagues.

The stats don't lie.Go check the top 20 WRs in redraft or dynasty. 80% of them have had better career years then CJ. CJ is never going to get 15 TDs, ever. End of story. Move on. His ceiling just isn;t that high. CJ is about to turn 29. He's not young, he's not on the upswing. He's not going to get better. Palmer isn't going to throw the 50 TDs needed for CJ to put up elite numbers.

Plamer threw 30+ tds last year, and he got 9? How many does Palmer have to throw for CJ to hit doubt digets? 40? 50? If housh plays the rest of the way, he'll get more TDs then CJ. He has over the last two years when they've played.

Two years ago you probably didn't even know who CJ was. Funny how he gets hyped because he gets play on ESPN. Dancing doesn't get bonus points in my league.

Again he's a top 5-10WR. He had better years with Kitna then Palmer. With all the weapons Cinci now has, CJ has no shot at 10 TDs this year, which is his norm. Most of CJs love is due to his smack talk and his dancing.

Yep... too many working parts in Cinn this year. Great for Palmer..... but, that offense looks like anyone could catch god knows what. Watch the injuries closely... as that might dictate whos going to break out, but I'm going to see if I can shop him.

I believe the price for him was too high... where as this proves to those of us learning the game that value play would have been a guy like Housh (injuries aside).
