Targeting Shaun Alexander (1 Viewer)

The Alexander owner in my league is 1-3 and in need of help at the RB position. Is it crazy to consider trading for a RB with a bum wheel? With high risk comes high reward, just curious of everyones thoughts. If he's been traded in your leagues what did he bring?

This sounds like an AC thread and that's not what I intended. I'm more interested in knowing if he is being traded/shopped/pursued in other leagues.

My concern would be giving up too much, considering the Seahawks' line is not as strong w/o Hutchinson, he's struggled a bit so far, and Holmgren seems intent on opening up the passing game.

If SA winds up being your RB2 (behind LJ, LT, or another top-10 back), I'd strongly consider it.

Edit to add: I was offered SA for Bush, Heap and MBell (he has TBell) in a PPR, and I couldn't pull the trigger. If Foster ends up hurt or loses his job, and SA is slow to heal, I'd be sunk.

To help set the value....Last week I was offered SA and Roethlisberger for Favre and Bush in a PPR league.

I acquired SA from an owner who is now 0-4; gave up RB Jam Lewis, DB Gib Wilson, and LB Vilma...

Week 11: Seahawks at 49ers

Week 12: Packers at Seahawks

Week 13: Seahawks at Broncos

Week 14: Seahawks at Cardinals

Week 15: 49ers at Seahawks

Week 16: Chargers at Seahawks

Just hope he gets healthy.

The Sa owner and i have been going back and forth with trade offers and counter offers. Themost recent one was my counter asking for SA for boldin straight up. We'll see if he takes the bait. If so, that would give me LT2 and SA in my backfield for the stretch run.

I traded three firsts (2 in 2007 and 1 in 2008) for him. None will likely be top 5 picks though. I have LT and R. Brown and my thought was to have LT, Alexander and Brown for my playoff run would be worth it even if SA sits the next few weeks. Not to mention, I get him for the next year or two as well.

I traded away SA for C.Taylor and Sa. Moss last week. I have 0 regrets.
If you were able to get the trade finalized prior to this weekend's games I am sure you would have made that trade 10 times over after the numbers moss put up.
I did, but that was just a bonus. I am thinking further down the road and it just doesn't look like SA is going to get even close to where he was last year. BTW, I really enjoyed the OT TD.

It has really been quiet on his injury status. The limited information out there from another thread has him possibly returning in week 7. Bye week this week (5), out week 6 v. St. Louis, with maybe a return on Oct. 22 v. Minn. That said, any other fantasy trades for SA this week? Are owners looking to hold him or deal him? If hold, why? If sell, for what? If you are looking to buy, what are you willing to give and what is the reason?

I was just offered SA today in a deal for Deuce and one of my WR's.... he didn't say who. We'll see who the WR he's targetting before I get too excited. I have LT2 also.. note, this is a 16 team dynasty league... having LT2 and SA together would be huge.

I traded Deshaun Foster and Ben Troupe for SA and Shockey....(PPR league, high performance scoring)....I am counting on SA being back by week 8 at the latest.

SA > DF... Shock>Troupe..hah...glad you made out on that one

I just gave up Thomas Jones and Alex Smith in a 12 team start 2 QB league for SA (SA owner is a huge bears homer). Now that I have LT and SA I'm feeling pretty good. Here's to hoping he'll be good by Oct 22nd.

I was able to get Alexander through a trade. Gave up Julius Jones and Todd Heap. He was desperate for an RB. Honestly I was surprised but I'll take it.

I'm targeting him as well. I think if you have depth at RB and can get by the next couple of weeks, he'll pay off down the stretch.

I just offered Farve and DeShaun Foster for Alexander and Mo Morris. I was turned down.

The Alexander owner is 0-5 and has Plummer and Culpepper as his starting QB so he needs a QB.

I actually was able to aquire Alexander for Thomas Jones and Derrick Mason. I currently have alot of RB depth though.

DeShaun Foster

Willis McGahee

Clinton Portis

Shaun Alexander

Cedric Benson

bumpI'm thinking of going after SA in my league.
I own SA in one of my $ leagues. Its a 2-Keeper and I have owned SA for 5 years now. Despite SA being out of my lineup I am 3-2 and only one game back in my division.I have had several trade offers from owners trying to get SA for cheap. The last offer was Dallas Clark for SA. This league is a TE Heavy league (1pt/5 yards 1pt Rec, WRs only .5 Rec). I told the guy to pound sand.I have McNabb, Gore and McGahee so I think I can stay afloat until SA comes back.I would say that if you are struggling with depth you could get a WR1 and a RB2 for SA and maybe a WR3.

I've gone through the same thing with various players - SAlex and LT in particular. Offer a sweet deal that benefits them waaaay more than it benefits me, but the thought of not having the preseason #1 guy is too much for them to take. I could add maybe only 10 pts a week with either/or (providing they played to their usual form) while the other owner could add 50 pts/week from the deal and actually have a chance to win but it aint happening. "LT is due for some big weeks!" Well, probably - but if he gets you 45 points and the rest of your roster gets you 12, he aint helping you, ya dunce.

I just traded him away for Cadillac and Cutler in a dynasty league. Should I have held out for more? I don't think he'll ever be worth more than he is now, unless he has some ridiculous games when he returns. He is averaging 2.9 ypc and their line is not anything like is was last year with Hutchinson.

I also feel like Caddy is a good buy-low right now because of their horrid start. I even made the trade before Kornheiser spent three hours last night plugging Cutler.

Last week I traded:

Reggie Bush

Reuben Droughns

Michael Robinson

Chad Pennington

for

Shaun Alexander

Maurice Morris

Cadillac Williams

Ben Roethlisberger

We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, and 1 Flex of any position with a PPR for RB and WR. I'm happy with the deal so far.

I just upped my offer to include Bulger instead of Farve. So Bulger and DeShaun for Alexander and Mo Morris. We'll see what happens.I think I'm offering a lot but I like the idea of having Alexander in my backfield along with Tiki and can get by with starting Farve on a weekly basis.

Just pulled the trigger on a trade for him.

Gave up Deuce McAllister and Keyshawn

Got SA and D Jackson.

I'm hoping I was able to unload Deuce at his high point...and I expect Keyshawn will return to Earth.

Deuce and Keyshawn happen to be the 4th best at their positions in our scoring system, and I expect that to not last much longer...

Just dealt him in a keeper league. I just dont see him returning

to his previous form. He looked very tentative running and just

didnt look like the same guy, even going back to week 1.

Holding him in a redraft (running with FWP and Duece for now) and trying to trade for him in a Dynasty. Guy needs QB (I offer Bulger) and a TE (I offered Ben Watson, better than what he has and younger too). Would get SA and Crumpler - I can wait out for SA to come back with Portis and Westy in my backfield -- but I am more thinkign about next year -- he'll be a steal by then IMO.

Just acquired Alex and Gabriel for Dunn and Norwood. It is a 1 player keeper league. The guy who traded him was 1-4 and hurting bad at RB, with only Julius as a legit starter. I, OTOH, have Tatum, Tiki and Maroney in our league where you can start 3 RB's. Depth was the key. Now he just needs to get healthy and show why he was a lock as a top 3 pick.

I don't know what leagues you are all in, but those offers all sound cheap for SA.

I traded Gore/Maroney/Heap for SA/Wayne.....and felt good about it.

I have Chester Martin and LT already, and had little at receiver.

Gore's schedule is tough going to the stretch and Heap and Maroney are nightmares to know whether to play or not. SA and Wayne will be must starts, although I may bench SA against Minnesota next week.

I had Maurice Morris.

Traded EJames for Alexander last week to 1-4 team that needed a starter right now..

I accepted a trade offer of Alexander for Hasselbeck, leaving me with Harrington to start the next couple of weeks, and Frye to ride out the rest of the season. It's a 3 player keeper league and I have started 1-4 so I figure that if my team doesn't turn around I have a good RB option next season.

In a redraft auction league where you can keep 1 player at his previous year's salary + $10 ($260 cap) I dealt Tony G and Dunn for SA. I can't imagine I'd keep him next year but it gives me Ronnie Brown, Rudi Johnson, and SA at RB (start 2 no UTIL). At TE I stll have LJ Smith and snagged Alex Smith TE with the open roster spot for bye coverage. Technically Tony G and Dunn were only projected to start 1 game each the rest of the way on the LD so we'll see if depth or fading stud works out best for me.

I was just told my offer of Gore, Hasselbeck(6pt TD pass), Randy Moss, and Jamal Lewis for Morris and Alex was lopsided in my favor... :(

The guy has Leinart and Losman at QB, and Chester Taylor/Kevin Jones/Ronnie Brown at RB...

He was my # 1 pick and i am holding on tight...i figure when he gets back he will be healthy and fresh and the O line will have jelled by then....i see great things from him the second half of the season.

Me too. Fresh legs midway through the season has meant big numbers from a number of backs over the last couple years.

I just traded FOR Alexander & Morris.

Gave: Pennington, W.Parker, W. Dunn, D. Mason

For: Grossman, SA, M.Morris, R. Wayne

Traded for him last week.

McNair, Deuce and Mason

for

Daunte, SA, and Lelie.

He needed QB for week 8 since we start 2 QB and he had 2 qb on bye, and needed RB for week 5. He had Westy, Dayne, and SA.

So I jump on it.

Hopefully, SA gets fully healthy and help me down the road.

We start 2 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1, TE,1 Flex, 1k, 1 D

Grossman, Bledsoe, Farve, Brooks

SA, R. Brown, Gore, Dunn, Turner (Droped Daunte for him)

TO, Coles, Bryant, Jennings, Furrey (Droped Lelie for him)

Alex Smith (Drop Watson this week)

Gould

Denver
