Made the cut again, but this is going to be my toughtest week with Manning on bye and Simms on IR.

My team is still breezing, but there's trouble on the horizon. Week 7 is looking nasty. I'll be missing:

Frank Gore

Reggie Bush

Antonio Bryant

Isaac Bruce

Muhsin Muhammad

Chris Henry (suspension)

That will leave me with Kevin Jones, Corey Dillon, and Laurence Maroney at RB.

Worse, I'll only have three WRs going: McCardell, Williamson, and Evans.

The good news is that I'll have three QBs, two defenses, two kickers, and two tight ends (if Shockey is healthy). Also, I suspect that a ton of people will be missing Gore and Bush. That should lower the cutoff.

Bottom line is that you have to get a little lucky to do well in an event like this. If I get through week 7, I should have as good a chance as anyone to win.

So you were wrong before and decided to be wrong a second time? :loco: The percentage of Gore owners has actually been rising as you've been predicting doomsday...Originally it was at 60.6%After week 2 it was up to 65.4%After week 3 it was up to 69.2%Gore was only $10, so he's probably the RB4 on most teams. If he does well, it puts the 30% of people who don't have him in danger. If he doesn't do well, it only hurts the guys who are thin at RB.

And the % goes up again to 69.6%. Good call again, butcher boy. With Parker on bye and nothing from Dunn or Chet Taylor I actually used Gore's lousy 10 points and still finished in the top 600 overall. Try not to be too bitter over passing on him.

Talk to me in a few weeks and see what happens. Gore gets Chargers, Bye, and Bears the next 3 weeks. Good freakin' luck getting production out of him then. That percentage is going to plummet drastically and when it's all said and done, most Gore owners will be out.

There's no reason he'll go down in weeks 6 or 8. San Diego just gave up 17 points to FWP. Gore is more involved in SF's passing game than FWP is in Pittsburgh's. Gore will get his points whether they are winning or losing. Aside from that, he's much better off this week than Green, Droughns, Rhodes, Addai, Taylor, Drew, C Taylor, Maroney, or Dillon. Those are the players whose percentages will likely decrease this week.In week 8, against Chicago, he should be no worse than the 10 points McGahee scored, the 11 points Chester scored, the 14 points KJ scored, or the 16 points Green scored against the Bears. Again, he'll also be much better than McGahee, KJ, Ronnie Brown , or Portis. The only week his percentage will likely decrease is week 7 when he is off. But, there are 5 other teams with RB's off that week and that will soften the decrease.

I set my lineup the first day it went live and then forgot about it so didn't make any changes after the first day. Missed out of the Gore steal.

I'm in good shape for week 6, but week 7, with no Gore/Bush, looks less wonderful. I think a lot of people have been relying on these two, some high-scoring teams could take a fall next week.

Actually, I have a correction with Rivers actually beating out Delhomme (assuming I did the math right). Should put me at about 108. I haven't verified this, but it seems to me that the games were generally even lower scoring this week than last -- could mean I make the cut. :shrug:

This is a risky week for me. Poor planning as I have 6 players on bye weeks and Alexander still out. I need big weeks out of many players:

Manning off ===> Loseman must produce (Risky)

Alexander out ====> Gore & Parker (should be OK)

R. Wayne, T. Williamson, D. Gabriel off ===> L. Evans/T. Glenn/B. Engram/R. Curry (Decent but at most 2 will have good weeks)

Watson off ===> Scheffler must produce (ouch)

Gostkowski ===> Elam (OK)

I will be lucky to be around after next week. Loseman has to have a good week play Detroit, and three of four WR must have good weeks which is not likely.

I think I worked in one more stud WR and the Smith/Keyshawn combo will be lethal. Bush/McAli offers some injury protection and Bush in a ppr still posts an OK number. Gave a lot of thought to working Rudi into the lineup.

Hey David...any chance that next year you could update player values on a weekly basis in August. Those submitting entries early wouldn't be impacted by the changes, but those making adjustments later would have to work to your new values? It might make things even more interesting and would really spread out the distribution of players selected. In lieu of that, you might just want to make the contest entry timeframe limited to the timeframe from the last pre-season game to the first NFL game so you could factor pre-season changes and injuries into your values.

Gore for $10 was a steal and anyone not drafting him had to have an extrinsic motive. His price was set before the Barlow trade and that trade greatly increased his value.

Of course, this is almost certainly going to happen over the next 3 weeks simply because a very large percentage of teams left have Gore. It has nothing to do with Gore's production - in fact, as a greater percentage of teams own him, the less his performance is worth because a higher percentage of teams will benefit from it.

Unfortunately, no Peyton, Jones-Drew, Wayne, Gabriel, Ben Watson due to byes and Henry is still grounded. So my top 3 WR's are limited to Toomer, Burleson, Mark and Mike Clayton. Eric Johnson is my only TE. That could be trouble. I'll need lots of production from QB/WR. Any chance the Dolphins put on a dominating defensive performance vs. the Jets? If I can get by this week I've got a great shot as the rest of the bye weeks don't hurt me much. C'mon boys!!!!!!

That's the most important point of this discussion.It's the owners who are alive WITHOUT Gore that have the opportunity to get a good score from an RB that the other 80% Gore owners won't have. That whole being different thing.

 
Just missed the Top 1000 this week and never been within 20 points of the cut.

Week 6 I'm missing Peyton (Rivers/Cutler), Wayne, Williamson (Glenn, Evans, Horn, Engram, McCardell) and Franks (ASmith).

Week 7 I lose Gore, THenry (Rudi, Parker, Barber III) and Horn.

My RBs need to carry me for a couple of weeks...

I predict two more weeks of cuts in the 105 range, then a jump into the 130s.

Bye weeks eliminate the bottom feeders, the real competition begins in Week 8.

Seriously. He's my 4th in terms of cost, but it's been a boon that he's been able to count for me in multiple weeks. Rudi, McGahee, Parker, Gore, Jacobs...
