***Official Super Bowl Game Thread*** (1 Viewer)

What a TERRIBLE technicality if someone who is obviously trying to get off the field.. penalizes in this situation. Awful.
If there weren't a penalty, then defenses could substitute at virtually any time. This puts the control back in the hands of the offense.
The ref missed it, too bad so sad. They'll catch it the next 99 times.
There's no reason to make it unreviewable, because it's an observable fact and not a judgement call. There's a good reason to make it reviewable, because the offense may try to get the quick snap while the 12th player is on the field and then make a bad play specifically because the refs didn't catch it. Very reasonable to review it in those cases.
It's bad football.... a guy running off the field 20 yds from the snap vs the defensive trickery.... a technical call that' snot in the spirit of what happens on the play = bad for football, if not the SuperBowl.
The spirit of football is to have 11 guys play 11 guys - not to have 23 different guys constantly changing back and forth against the offense's 11 guys. If the defense wants to gamble by making frequent substitutions, they have to be penalized for screwing up, and the offense has to be able to counter it. The way they counter it is by snapping the ball before the defensive adjustments are completed. And if the offense successfully catches them, and the refs don't notice, it's perfectly reasonable for the offense to challenge the call.
Because the offence never swaps out personel  The defence can't know what package to have on the field till the offence decides.
Exactly... if a guy is trying to duck out, and has ZERO to do with the play... it's like when head coaches walk onto the court during the game in NBA... technically they CANNOT Be there... but they aren't called for it... and certainly not in the Championship Series.
He doesn't have zero to do with the drive, though. That's the difference. The offense owns the drive. They control the snap of the ball. The defense responds to the offense. If a defensive player wants to substitute, they need to get it done during the time alotted. And yes, it is different from head coaches walking on the floor in the NBA. It's more like having too many players on the ice after a line change in hockey. Which is called, and for good reason. It's a huge advantage not to have to make your line changes as quickly as the other team. It's a huge advantage not to have to make defensive subtitutions as fast as the offense does.

Seriously the Bears are lucky to be in this game. Last year I sat there in disgust as my team should have been in the lead and let the game slip away. Completely different scenario. Bears still have a great shot but they need a big play on D or Special Teams. I don't know if the O can punch it in unless they get a short field.

Looks like another long drive for the Colts. Man up defense. Don't let this happen. Carry us to victory like you have all season. Our offense can't. You have to do it again.

I don't know which effect I'm most afraid of from that Dunkin Donuts maple sausage and cheddar and egg sandwich, the taste, the heart disease, the heartburn, or the regurgitory reflex.

ABSOLUTELY MONSTROUS POSESSION HERE
:goodposting:
bad posting... it's a 5 pt game with a quarter left... every possession is huge. Besides possession is spelled wrong.
so if every possession is huge then it is good posting. stick your head back in your dictionary.
wow.. now THIS ... this is a big 3rd down (you can thank me later for pointing out the most prolific moments of this game... drive thru)
